Chapter 1430: Employee No. 002, Motivated by a Jar of Honey

Before soaking in the medicinal bath, the first thing that must be done is to confirm the territory is safe.

Xia Qing opened her phone and checked the surveillance cameras across the territory. She checked the camera inside the wolf den in the house ruins first, and saw Wolf Lao Si and the Earless Wolf lying together. Wolf Lao Si was sleeping deeply, while the Earless Wolf's ears kept twitching—it was obvious that tonight it was on night watch.

When she led the northern wolf pack home after dinner, Xia Qing went up to the house ruins to visit these two old wolves first. The Earless Wolf's anesthetic had completely worn off, and the injection Third Brother had given it had also taken effect. This sparse-furred old wolf was in better spirits than Wolf Lao Si, who had lost his teeth, and could take on the night watch duty.

But when Xia Qing mentioned that she was going to soak in the medicinal bath and wouldn't be able to come running tonight, the old wolf's eyes still made Xia Qing's heart ache a little. So she called over the alpha of the northern wolf pack and asked the alpha to have the three main battle wolves of the northern wolf pack include Wolf Lao Si's territory in their protection range.

The alpha and Wolf Lao Si stared at each other for a few seconds before the alpha nodded in agreement—this might be one of the reasons Wolf Lao Si could sleep soundly.

Xia Qing switched to the East Zone 1 camera to check on her courtyard. The silver-gray handsome giant wolf, the brown giant wolf Big Guy, and the giant wolf cub were lying together on an old straw mat under the corridor—seen through the camera, they looked like one big fur ball.

The Black Wolf, Scar Wolf, Little Wolf Sister, and Little Four-Eyes were also curled up in a group on the shelf-building's rooftop grain-drying area. Unlike the three wolves under the eaves, these four wolves all faced outward. The strongest fighter among the four, the Black Wolf, was watching Yang Jin, while the second strongest, Scar Wolf, was actually watching the east—its pale fangs glinting coldly under the camera.

Xia Qing carefully observed Scar Wolf's expression, then switched the camera to other areas in the eastern part of the territory and found nothing unusual. But she didn't dare let her guard down for a moment. She turned and went into the bedroom, wiped away a piece of window decoration, and looked out at the northern farmland area. She quickly spotted Yang Jin, who was checking the farmland rain covers, and sent him a message:

The wolf pack detected unusual movement inside Territory Four—situation unknown. Please trouble Captain Yang to remind Teacher Wang to watch her safety, and to carefully check whether there's anything abnormal in the territory. If any problems are found, contact the investigation team immediately.

Yang Jin by the farmland paused for a few seconds. After hearing the message content through his Bluetooth earpiece, his first reaction was worry for Xia Qing. She must be so busy tonight that she can't even check her phone—otherwise she wouldn't have entrusted contacting the territory alliance members to him.

Yang Jin took out his phone, which was kept in an insulated bag, looked down, and replied with one word: Okay.

After receiving Yang Jin's reply, Xia Qing also sent messages to her idol, Yue Haiying, and Seeing Xin Yu, before calling the alpha, the Broken-Waist Wolf, Little Wolf Brother, Wolf Lao Er, and Does Daigua to the first-floor bathroom.

Next came arranging the task assignments for the medicinal bath. The pain would be three times stronger than last time, and Xia Qing estimated she might pass out, so she had to make arrangements in advance.

The first thing was to motivate tonight's important task executor—temporary worker No. 002, Does Daigua.

She took out a one-jin jar of Green Lantern honey, unscrewed the lid, and Does Daigua, who was standing at the door, immediately lit up.

Xia Qing smiled and promised, "Does Daigua has two tasks tonight. After completing these two tasks, you can have this jar of Green Lantern honey. The first task is to help Sheep Boss and the wolf pack put on and take off the wooden cricks. Can Does Daigua do it?"

"Eh?!!!" Does Daigua, who had been a little scared just now, perked right up, eyes shining, voice booming.

"Excellent! Our Does Daigua is a monk-faced monkey standing at the top of Blue Star's pyramid, the hope and pride of every monk-faced monkey on Blue Star. I believe you can definitely complete the task and earn this jar of delicious honey."

After motivating her employee, Xia Qing began assigning tasks. "Tonight's medicinal bath will be very painful, but after soaking, your physical fitness will go up a notch. Once I'm done soaking, I'll have to sleep, and I can only come down after I've recovered some stamina. Queen my lord, Broken-Waist, you all watch the wolf pack—don't let them howl, or you'll alert the humans in the neighboring territory. Queen my lord, I'm leaving Sheep Boss to you—make sure it soaks for a full hour."

The alpha quietly watched Xia Qing, waiting for her to continue.

Xia Qing was confident the Northern Wolf King could handle the task and didn't need to be told twice. She picked up a wooden crick she had made herself and continued assigning tasks. "These are the protective gear that every companion taking the medicinal bath must put around their neck before getting into the tub. Look, each wooden board has a name on it. These two are for Queen my lord and Wolf Lao Er, this one is for Broken-Waist and the giant wolf cub…"

These wooden cricks were made by Xia Qing—protective gear worn around the neck to prevent wolves who faint from the pain from drowning. Fearing the wolf pack wouldn't be able to tell the sizes apart, she wrote each wolf's name on every crick and arranged them in the bathroom. Apart from Wolf Lao Er, the three wolves and one monkey here could all read and tell which wolf used which crick.

This was something Xia Qing had made out of wood based on the style of an ancient Huaxian torture device—just a wooden board with a hole in the middle. Because the wolf pack didn't trust other humans, and Xia Qing didn't know what state she'd be in after soaking in the medicinal bath, she had to make arrangements in advance.

After making sure everyone had a clear look at the wooden crick's structure, Xia Qing called Wolf Lao Er over and began demonstrating how to use the protective gear.

"I'm going to put the protective gear on Wolf Lao Er now. Queen my lord, Broken-Waist, Little Wolf Brother, Does Daigua—watch carefully. You must make sure every companion has the protective gear secured around their neck before getting into the tub, or they'll faint from the pain and drown. After the medicinal bath is done, drag the companion out of the tub before you can open this iron clasp and remove the wooden crick."

Xia Qing first opened the iron clasp, slipped the wooden crick around Wolf Lao Er's neck, then fastened the clasp. "That's how it's done. Does Daigua, put the wooden crick on Wolf Lao Er; Queen my lord, fasten the iron clasp."

Compared to the coursework the wolf pack was currently learning, this task was very simple. The alpha and Does Daigua, Broken-Waist and Does Daigua, Little Wolf Brother and Does Daigua could all work together to complete the task of putting on and taking off the wooden cricks. During the medicinal bath, as long as at least one of these three wolves stayed awake, the wolf pack members' safety would be guaranteed.

Does Daigua? At this moment, Does Daigua's motivation was through the roof—absolutely no problems there.

The next task was for the Broken-Waist Wolf, who would be the last to soak in the medicinal bath. After the companions had their wooden cricks on and were in the tub, the two of them would fill the tub with warm water, set the alarm clock, and then add the medicinal solution according to the alarm clock's prompts.

To improve the wolf pack's medicinal bath results, the potions Zhang San Kai gave Xia Qing were all extra-strength. When the bath's effect weakened, another packet could be added to ensure the wolves soaking later got the same effect.

For the beloved disciple of the big shot, this task posed no difficulty at all.

Next up—the important part.

Xia Qing sternly instructed the father-and-son duo, who were full of curiosity and loved stirring up trouble for no reason: "Broken-Waist, Little Wolf Brother. Little Feimao, Does Daigua, and Ergua aren't soaking in the potion tonight. You are not to push them into the water. Got it?"

Little Wolf Brother immediately bared his little fang tips, while the Broken-Waist Wolf looked thoughtful.

Xia Qing knew this scoundrel couldn't be trusted, and her expression grew even more serious. "This potion is very painful. If they faint, they'll drown. If they die because you pushed them into the water, you'll have to compensate me with twenty fist-sized pieces of high-grade Yestone. Understand?"

The Broken-Waist Wolf's face went solemn, and he nodded.

"If a wolf can't get up after soaking in the medicinal bath, drag them over to the straw mat by the fireplace and let them dry their fur slowly. You are not allowed to use my blankets to dry the wolves off, or you'll have to compensate me with ten pieces of Yestone this size. Got it?"

"If the straw mat gets wet, get a new one. But you are not allowed to use the hair dryer to blow-dry the wolves or the straw mat, or you'll have to compensate me with five pieces of Yestone this size. Got it?"

"The constant-temperature heater in the tub must not be fished out and taken apart to play with, or you'll have to compensate me with ten pieces of Yestone this size. Got it?"

……

After going through everything she could think of to warn them about, Xia Qing took Does Daigua and the honey back upstairs, ready to soak in the medicinal bath.
