Chapter 1523: The Rear Guard and the Wolf Choice

Northern Hui-3, deep in the Evolution Forest, at the edge of the hot spring basin.

A human wearing a protective mask with a headlamp lit, and a small white-faced monkey, were cleaning the affected skin areas of a giant bear lying on a rock that had a skin disease and applying medicine, while an evolved wolf standing on a slightly higher rock was taking photos of them.

Xia Qing didn't dare step forward to treat Xiong Wang's fur at first, until she saw Daigua using the ointment like paste, about to smear a thick layer on Xiong Wang's affected area, and her heart ached so much she forgot to be afraid and took over herself.

"Roar…"

Feeling the washed area become cool and much less itchy, Xiong Wang stretched out its limbs and let out a comfortable sigh.

Broken-Waist Wolf immediately snapped a photo, sent it to Fourth Brother, and even added a happy sticker.

In a cave on the cliff of Mountain 22 in southern Hui-3, Fourth Brother tapped open the photo sent by Broken-Waist Wolf, looked at it for a few seconds, then turned to look at Zhang Shi beside him.

Zhang Shi, who was watching videos with Scarface Little Wolf and Ye Yiyi to learn characters, was also keeping constant watch on her patient. So when Fourth Brother looked at her, Zhang Shi turned her head and asked, "Fourth Brother, what's wrong?"

Fourth Brother nudged his phone toward Zhang Shi, indicating she should look at it.

Zhang Shi walked over and squatted beside the old wolf. Seeing the photo sent by Broken-Waist Wolf, she was shocked. So, Xia Qing went to the Xiong Qun's territory to treat Xiong Wang?!

This patient's tonnage and combat power…

Zhang Shi focused, enlarged the photo for the old wolf to see, "Look at the movements, Sister Qing and Daigua are treating this bear's skin disease. Fourth Brother, look at the bear's… arm here, the fur is sparse, it should have lost hair after a fungal infection…"

On Mountain 67, Xia Qing, wearing rubber gloves, instructed, "Daigua, this tube of ointment isn't enough, have you run out of your ointment? If you haven't, go get it and use it on Xiong Wang first, I'll have Broken-Waist bring you another tube tomorrow."

"Eek!" Daigua the little monkey took off its tiny gloves and put them in a sterile bag, grabbed a tree branch and climbed up, and in a little while came back with a tube of ointment that was almost half used.

"Probably still not enough." Xia Qing took the ointment, treated another obvious skin lesion, and nudged the giant bear that was lying there snoring, "Bear Brother, turn over, let me check the fur on your back."

Xiong Wang obediently turned over and lay flat on the rock. Xia Qing turned on her flashlight, and together with Broken-Waist Wolf, checked Xiong Wang's back fur from head to paws, then discussed how to handle it, "Xiong Wang still has multiple infections, this half-tube of ointment isn't enough either. Broken-Waist, should I first use the anti-itch and antibacterial powder on it? Otherwise Xiong Wang will keep rubbing against rocks and the infected area will spread."

Broken-Waist Wolf raised its paw and pointed at the ointment.

"I know, finish the ointment first, then use the powder." After using up the ointment, Xia Qing pulled out the powder used for rubbing down foxes, rubbed it through the remaining fur on Xiong Wang, then instructed, "Bear Brother, your skin disease is quite serious, you can't soak in the hot spring for the next couple of days, and don't use that tree to scratch anymore…"

After Xiong Wang turned around and sat up, Xia Qing immediately lost her nerve, backed up a few steps, and called her temp worker Daigua, "Daigua, I'm assigning you a 1,650-point mission: go put on protective gear, take Ergua with you back to Xiong Dong with Xiong Wang, watch Xiong Wang and don't let it rub or scratch randomly. Once Xiong Wang is healed, the 1,650 points you owe me today will be waived. How about it?"

"Eek!!" Daigua immediately accepted the mission and ran back to put on protective gear.

Xia Qing raised her voice to remind, "Bring Ergua's medicine, and have Ergua put on clothes too!"

Bear Mountain isn't inside the basin, it's quite cold on the way.

Xia Qing discussed with Broken-Waist Wolf, "There must be a source of contamination in Xiong Wang's cave, Broken-Waist, we can't go into Xiong Dong, right? This is the time when mother bears give birth, isn't it?"

Broken-Waist Wolf pressed its mouth shut, looking very serious.

"Alright, then I'll leave this to Daigua too. Let's go back and test the samples, and once we determine the treatment, you deliver the medicine to Daigua… Of course, we'll definitely charge for treatment, but Xiong Wang doesn't understand the rules yet, so let's let it owe us, and we'll collect once it joins the Blue Star Territory Alliance…"

"…Not a loss at all, not a loss at all. Broken-Waist, think about it, if Xiong Wang were already a Territory Alliance member, would you still have gotten a pack of pretty stones and eighty percent of the seized supplies today? This is Xiong Qun's territory."

Broken-Waist Wolf thought for a few seconds, bared its little fang tips, and the human and wolf who had struck it rich faced each other, smiling extremely happily.

Xiong Wang, thoroughly comfortable, lay lazily on the rock, in a good mood as well.

After watching Xiong Wang carry Daigua and Ergua, both in protective gear, depart, Xia Qing shouldered her backpack, brought supplies, carried the tin house on her shoulder, and together with Broken-Waist Wolf carrying the Yi Snake and stones, hurried to the west side of the Mountain 67 basin to rendezvous with Yang Jin, Watching Huo Zhun, and the wolf pack.

After meeting up, Broken-Waist Wolf and the Head Wolf were all lovey-dovey, and Xia Qing shared the latest news with her companions, "Daigua overheard people from Fiery Fire Team Two talking and learned that in three days, someone from Lan-5 will come to this basin to pick them up…"

Before Xia Qing could finish, Watching Huo Zhun volunteered, "Sister Qing, I'll stay here and wait by the stump for the rabbit!"

According to the cleanup range Xia Qing originally delineated, when the northern and western wolf pack territories need support, the Territory Alliance handles it.

The northern Xiong Qun's territory is even further north than the wolf pack's territory, so in principle it should also be handled by the Territory Alliance. So Yang Jin didn't fight Watching Huo Zhun for the mission, only reminded him, "Fiery Fire Team Two has strong combat power and doesn't like using poison, but the people coming to meet them might not. If Xia Qing hadn't drugged Liao Wen with medicine, the poisoned weapons he brought could have destroyed the entire basin."

Huo Zhun nodded, "Understood, I'll try not to clash head-on with them.

Xia Qing asked the Head Wolf walking over, "Does the Queen my lord send two wolves to stay here with Watching Huo Zhun to keep watch?"

Broken-Waist Wolf immediately raised a big paw.

Xia Qing pressed down Broken-Waist Wolf's big paw, "If bad humans come to meet Fiery Fire Team Two, Brother Huo immediately call me, and we'll formulate a battle plan based on the combat power of the support personnel. If we need reinforcements, we'll first deploy the combat power of Territory Eleven. I want twenty percent of the seized supplies, the wolf pack forty percent, Brother Huo forty percent, how about it?"

Watching Huo Zhun was the first to nod, "No problem!"

Broken-Waist Wolf moved, couldn't break free from Xia Qing's paw, and could only nod in agreement.

"Alright, then it's settled." Xia Qing reminded Watching Huo Zhun, "There are many poisonous insects and poisonous plants in the basin, a lot of hostile evolved plants, there's a brain-domain evolved python in the hot spring lake, and the Xiong Qun will come by periodically to patrol. Brother Huo must be very careful. Do you have enough food and drinking water?"

Watching Huo Zhun grinned, "Just three days, three nutrient solutions are enough, I don't even need a tent, I'll just dig a snow cave. Sister Qing should hurry back, it's best not to let people discover you've left the territory."

Not to mention he was carrying a backpack full of supplies, even if he brought nothing, Watching Huo Zhun could survive here and maintain combat power. If he didn't have this ability, he would never have passed the layers of selection to join the special forces team and stayed until retirement.

Xia Qing nodded and asked Broken-Waist Wolf, "Broken-Waist, which wolf should we station here."

Broken-Waist Wolf looked at Broken-Leg Wolf, who was rummaging around Xia Qing asking for food, and Xia Qing… "Can Broken-Leg handle it?"

The Head Wolf stood up and howled, and Black Wolf and Little Wolf Brother stepped aside. The two of them would stay and guard the basin with Watching Huo Zhun, while the rest of the wolves followed the leaders back to the northern wolf pack's territory.
