Chapter 1554: Yang Jin's Derivative Plan

"Buzz—"

Hearing the phone buzz in her pocket, Xia Qing pulled it out and saw it was a video call from the Fourth Brother. The stone weighing on her heart dropped at once. She looked up and asked her idol, "Fourth Brother and Yang Jin's squad finished their mission. Third Brother, can I take the call here?"

Zhang San nodded, and then through Xia Qing's phone screen, he saw the Evolution Wolf Fourth Brother wearing a mask, and the human Yang Jin wearing a wig…

Through the silhouette cast by the wall lamp in the upper-left corner of the video feed, Yang Jin confirmed Xia Qing's exact location. "Sister Qing is in Third Brother's office?"

"Yes."

Xia Qing tilted the phone slightly, and Yang Jin saw Zhang San sitting behind the desk. He immediately greeted him, "Third Brother."

Zhang San nodded.

Seeing Zhang San nod, Fourth Brother also gave a solemn nod with his big head.

Xia Qing asked, "Fourth Brother, Brother Jin, have you returned to the southern wolf pack's territory?"

"Yes." Yang Jin gave a brief report. "Under Fourth Brother's lead, we found the Fire Phoenix and ten members of Fierce Fire Squad One in two caves within Hui-1 Mountain Area 33. We've already transported the eleven bodies and part of the supplies back to Hui-1 Mountain 27."

Hui-1 Mountain 27 is both the core territory of Fourth Brother's wolf pack and the experimental zone belonging to Zhang San's team. Supplies brought here are safe, which is why Yang Jin and Fourth Brother called Xia Qing.

Originally, Yang Jin had wanted to use his own phone, but Fourth Brother disagreed. He howled twice, and had Earless Wolf deliver his phone over from Hui-3 Mountain 22.

The time from Fourth Brother's howl to Earless Wolf's delivery of the phone was less than ten minutes, which confirmed for Yang Jin that Earless Wolf of the southern wolf pack was also a high-level Evolver!

Xia Qing caught the key point in Yang Jin's words. "Fourth Brother, it was you who led the mastiffs to find where the Fierce Fire squad's bad guys were hiding?"

The solemn Fourth Brother nodded.

Xia Qing continued to praise him. "Fourth Brother, you really are worthy of being an Evolution Wolf standing at the top of Blue Star's pyramid. If not for you, we definitely wouldn't have found where the bad guys were hiding. Fourth Brother, you didn't just avenge your wolf pack, you also avenged the humans, tigers, giant lizards, and other species that were harmed by Fierce Fire. Fourth Brother, thank you."

Yang Jin!!!

The masked Fourth Brother gave a solemn nod.

"Fourth Brother did perform exceptionally well this time." Zhang San steered the conversation back on track. "How did the Fire Phoenix die?"

Yang Jin explained, "We found the cave where she was hiding, knocked her out with anesthetic, dragged her out, and injected 30 milliliters of air into her artery."

Originally, Yang Jin had planned to wake Deng Yufeng, question her for a confession, and then kill her. But Fourth Brother disagreed and demanded she be killed immediately.

Because Fourth Brother was the captain of this mission, Yang Jin followed mission rules and decisively killed this notoriously evil Fierce Fire captain.

The reason for using an air injection was that the Fire Phoenix's entire body was poisonous, so she couldn't be killed by blade or gun. Poison wouldn't work either, because she was a Recovery-type Evolver—the recovery factors in her blood could neutralize toxins.

Without Zhang San asking, Yang Jin proactively explained why he had brought all the bodies back. "In the early hours of this morning, Sister Qing led a team and burned an intruder squad at Hui-3 Mountain 48. If I use the same kind of bomb to incinerate the bodies at Hui-1 Mountain 33, it will draw everyone's attention to the Northern Zone 1 territory."

Plans can't keep up with changes.

Yang Jin had originally thought the depression-inducing drug Zhang San gave him would at most significantly reduce Fierce Fire Squad One's combat effectiveness, raising the success rate of his and Luo Pei's sneak attack on them. After a successful ambush, Yang Jin would have placed their bodies together with Deng Yufeng's and incinerated them completely with incendiary bombs. But he hadn't expected Zhang San's drug to be so powerful it could wipe out Fierce Fire Squad One outright, leaving no trace of any fight at the scene. So Yang Jin planned to use the captured supplies to gain greater benefit.

Zhang San nodded. "The other bodies can be incinerated normally, but the Fire Phoenix's body must be burned at high temperature, or it will cause a toxin leak. Fourth Brother, Yang Jin, keep a close eye on Deng Yufeng's body. Within two hours, I'll have Xiao Duan send you a sealed combustion chamber. After Deng Yufeng's body is incinerated, send it back."

The old wolf gave a solemn nod.

Xia Qing silently added: not "have," but "hire."

Seeing Fourth Brother nod, Yang Jin spoke up. "Thank you, Third Brother."

After deciding how to handle the bodies, Yang Jin proposed his plan. "Third Brother, Sister Qing, Fourth Brother, I want to divert some of the supplies captured this time. The first part is some of Fierce Fire Squad One's equipment, to be used to lure and kill Hui-2's Yu Dongming. The second part is the hardware equipment from Deng Yufeng's secret room. I want to move the entire secret room into the Hui-8 Evolution Forest, let the Doomsday Cult discover the secret room, and make the Blue Blood Alliance mistakenly think the Doomsday Cult captured the Fire Phoenix, so they can fight each other. What do you think?"

Zhang San looked at Xia Qing. Xia Qing seized the key point and asked, "Moving the secret room—will you need the wolf pack's help?"

Yang Jin nodded. "Yes, we need to hide the supplies at Fourth Brother's place first. If possible, we'll also need Fourth Brother to communicate with the Hui-8 wolf pack and help us pick a suitable location."

Xia Qing asked the old wolf, "Does Fourth Brother still remember the Doomsday Cult? When I showed you and Broken-Waist videos of human cult groups, I told you about the Hui-8 Doomsday Cult."

Zhang San raised a hand and pressed his forehead. Fourth Brother gave a solemn nod. Yang Jin gave a thumbs-up. "Fourth Brother is really amazing—worthy of being an Evolution Wolf standing at the top of the pyramid!"

After communicating with the old wolf, Xia Qing hung up the phone, and immediately received a chilly look from her idol. She quickly explained, "Third Brother, I didn't actively show them cult videos. It was Broken-Waist Wolf who heard humans in the Hui-3 base safe zone worshipping the Divine Wolf, and wanted to figure out what was going on."

It wanted to understand religion, so you showed it a cult?!

Zhang San shot Xia Qing a look and decided to handle business first. "Contact Xiao Duan, have it bring a giant wolf over to haul supplies and deliver them to the southern wolf pack's territory."

"Copy!"

When her idol entered the lab to prepare supplies, Xia Qing dialed Broken-Waist Wolf.

After completing the western tiger group's mission, this fellow had gone to the western wolf pack's territory to check on the injuries of its members.

After the call connected, before Xia Qing could say anything, Broken-Waist Wolf in the western wolf pack's cave solemnly pointed at a wolf she had treated, telling her to look for herself.

Xia Qing looked at the thief wolf that had been shaved and had an antibacterial patch on its flank, and asked, "The wound reached the subcutaneous fat layer. I sutured it in layers as required. If you don't believe me, you can watch the video when you get back—the suturing method is definitely up to standard."

After practicing for this period, Xia Qing's suturing technique had improved by a huge margin compared to when she had sutured Broken-Face Little Wolf's wound!

Hearing the sound from inside the lab, Zhang San poked his head out and gestured for Xia Qing to show him the phone screen.

After a glance, Zhang San complained, "After a wolf is injured, its resistance drops and it becomes sensitive to cold. You shaved off such a large patch of fur—how is it supposed to keep warm?"

Xia Qing…

So the reason the wolf stole her thermal blanket and warm sleeping bag was because she had shaved off too much of its fur?

But if she didn't shave that long a strip, how was she supposed to suture the wound?
