Chapter 1600: Attending Physician

In fact, Xia Qing understood why her idol had specifically told her to write the treatment plan herself. Because Xia Qing understood the wolf pack even better than Zhang Shi, who had served as the wolves' doctor and lived in their territory for nearly half a month.

This treatment plan concerned Ye Yiyi's future, and also implicitly involved the still-blurry path Xia Qing had just begun to tread between humans and evolved creatures, so she was indeed the most qualified person to speak on it—no one could replace her.

So once she truly began typing, Xia Qing cast aside all distractions and wrote the plan in earnest.

It was nearly dark by the time she hurried to Territory Seven with her freshly completed treatment plan to see her idol.

Xia Qing, who had felt a great weight lift and her whole body relax after finishing the plan, grew anxious again the moment she saw her idol pick it up.

Zhang San read it slowly, "《Comprehensive Intervention Plan for Promoting the Adaptive Development of 'Cross-Civilization Individual' Ye Yiyi》?"

Xia Qing answered honestly, "I borrowed the title format from the teaching videos you provided."

Zhang San acknowledged her with a sound, skimmed through it quickly, and gave his assessment, "Better than I expected."

Hearing her idol praise her, Xia Qing's eyes immediately lit up and her back straightened.

"No typos."

Xia Qing...

De-fan. I must de-fan right now!!!

"A treatment plan missing stage arrangements, risk monitoring, participating members, and a timeline—what kind of evaluation did you expect?"

Zhang San retorted irritably, then began discussing Ye Yiyi's treatment plan with Xia Qing, "Your thinking is correct. Ye Yiyi's choice is essentially a choice between 'safety' and 'belonging.' Human society brought her the ultimate 'insecurity,' while the wolf pack gave her the 'sense of belonging' and 'shelter' she needs most at this stage. 'The shelter the wolf pack gives Ye Yiyi comes with prerequisites, conditions, and is even fragile.'"

Zhang San stood up, washed his hands clean, put on sterile gloves, then took a fresh big red apple from the refrigerator.

Seeing such a fresh apple, Xia Qing's eyes lit up.

Zhang San turned on the special lamp on the table, carefully examining the apple's surface while continuing, "To truly make Ye Yiyi understand the meaning of 'cross-civilization survival,' you can't rely only on lecturing—you must let her see it with her own eyes and experience it personally. I agree with this view of yours."

After examining the apple, Zhang San took a brush, rinsed the apple under running water while scrubbing it, then placed it in salt water to disinfect once it was clean, before looking up at Xia Qing, "Arranging for her to observe a real, non-overwhelming hunt or territory patrol by the wolf pack, including encounters and injuries, so she understands that the wolves' way of survival also carries risks—this is feasible. But having her observe in just three days, isn't that moving too fast?"

Xia Qing reminded him, "Third Brother, opportunity knocks but once. I called Fourth Brother to ask—three days from now, a group of monkeys from deep in the Evolution Forest will come to seize the southern Hui-One wolf pack's territory. Fourth Brother says the southern Hui-One wolves can't beat the monkeys, so humans will join the fight to drive them off. If we miss this chance, she'll have to wait at least another month. A month from now the freeze will be over, and the Evolution Forest will be several times more dangerous than now."

Zhang San nodded, took the apple out of the salt water for a second rinse, then peeled it with a scalpel and handed it to Xia Qing to munch on, asking again, "Having her witness the cruelty of the wolves' living environment, human teamwork, and the risks and discipline of combat all in one event—the information load is too heavy. She might get overwhelmed."

Munching on the apple, Xia Qing disagreed with her idol's view, "Third Brother, she was born after the Great Evolution of Blue Star, she's already seven years old. If she can't handle even this much information, we might as well give up on her."

Zhang San quietly waited until Xia Qing had eaten the apple down to just eight seeds before continuing, "And then?"

And then?

Xia Qing answered, "After she realizes the wolves' living environment isn't as safe as she thought, and that human society isn't completely without order either, how to choose will be Ye Yiyi's own decision."

Zhang San was speechless, "Have her make the choice right away?"

That won't do. Xia Qing explained, "Let her first make contact with Zheng Kui, return to human society to adapt for a while, then have Zhang Shi and Zheng Kui talk to her about how to survive. Oh right, Third Brother, to make it easier for Ye Yiyi to attend school while still having contact with the wolf pack, I want to arrange for Zheng Kui to join the Azure Dragon Squad and move into Territory One."

Ye Yiyi needs contact with the wolf pack and also contact with human society, so she's not suited to living inside the Ninth Center, which runs on military-style management. The Azure Dragon Squad, which has a field training ground, suits her better.

Zhang San nodded, "How do you plan to handle Yang Jin's side?"

"Say nothing at all." Xia Qing answered directly, "Zheng Kui doesn't want to compete with disabled veterans for a staff slot at the Ninth Center, so he'll miss the Ninth Center's recruitment. Territory One will expand its planting scale again this year and needs to hire people—Zheng Kui should make it in time."

Zhang San asked, "What if Zheng Kui is unwilling to retire and adopt Ye Yiyi?"

Xia Qing answered calmly, "That would be even simpler—just pick someone from Beard Feng's squad and have them adopt Ye Yiyi. Beard Feng's squad has more contact with the wolf pack than Zheng Kui, so they're a better fit."

After finalizing Ye Yiyi's treatment plan, Xia Qing took advantage of her idol's good mood to bring up borrowing equipment for fertilizer research. Zhang San indeed didn't refuse. Then Xia Qing contentedly tagged along with her idol for a meal at Territory Seven, packed up ten steamed buns along with the apple peel and apple seeds, and returned to her own territory.

The apple peel was distributed by Xia Qing to Wolf Lao Da and Wolf Lao Er, while the apple seeds that couldn't sprout were given to Little Feimao and Qiang Zai, who had the bad luck of having his nest occupied by Bai Yan the raven.

Then Xia Qing sent the idol-revised treatment plan to Zhang Shi.

Seeing the treatment plan that had Old Fourth and the Broken-Waist Wolf protecting her and Ye Yiyi on a trip to the southern Hui-One wolf pack's territory to watch the wolves and monkeys fight, Zhang Shi had no objections. When she saw that Xia Qing needed to pay points to the two evolved wolves for this, Zhang Shi also thought it reasonable.

However, "Sister Qing, why is Broken-Bro's pay 1500 points higher than Fourth Bro's?"

Xia Qing explained, "Because the tasks and travel distances are different. Old Fourth is the guide wolf, while the Broken-Waist Wolf is the accompanying doctor, and it lives in northern Hui-Three, so the journey is longer."

The reason was solid, and Zhang Shi had no grounds to argue. Three days later, when it was time to depart, Zhang Shi held Ye Yiyi, climbed onto the giant wolf taxi she had hired for 300 points, and headed for the edge of the southern Hui-One wolf pack's territory to watch the wolves and monkeys battle up close.

Xia Qing? She was the human-wolf agent—once she'd gotten both sides to team up, her job was done. Right now, she was at Area Five of Hill Forty-Nine, enthusiastically pitching her newly acquired goods to the raven Bai Yan, who had returned once more.
