Chapter 1616: Helicopter from Red One Base

At 2 p. m. on January 16, Territory Seven's lord Zhang San left the territory in an armored vehicle to inspect the hidden valley of Mountain Fifty.

Accompanying personnel in the same vehicle: Mountain Fifty's administrator Xia Qing, Territory Seven's researcher Zhang He, Territory Seven's guard squad captain Zhang Jingwu and Zheng Chen, and Huicheng's special-ops squad captain Yan Long, currently on leave.

In the front and rear vehicles were also elite combatants from Territory Seven and Northern Zone One's territory; hidden in the surrounding evolution forest were 17 evolved wolves from the Northern Wolf Pack; circling in the sky were Territory Eight's trained birds Moli and Xiao Xiao.

The big shot, wearing a special protective suit, asked Yan Long across from him, "How did you get the wound on your face?"

Yan Long wasn't wearing a protective mask, so the wound on her face looked especially obvious, yet her expression unusually carried a hint of softness. "Banged it up during special training."

Handsome Giant Wolf's willpower and comprehension are both strong enough — it's good soldier material. Yan Long really wants to recruit it into her special-ops squad.

Zhang San glanced at Xia Qing beside him, who was wearing a single-sided see-through protective mask. Before he could speak, Zheng Chen sitting to his right started grinding for Xia Qing's favor. "To be able to make Captain Yan take a hit, Sister Qing's combat skills are seriously impressive."

Xia Qing...

Yan Long's gaze shifted to Zheng Chen. Their eyes met, and each saw the fighting spirit in the other's.

Yan Long's special-ops squad is Huicheng's ace combat force; Zheng Chen's multi-domain combat team is Red Eleven Base's ace. Because they belong to different military districts, with defense zones over a thousand li apart, Yan Long and Zheng Chen have never had the chance to take on missions together. Their only overlap is having successively garrisoned the same territory — Northern Zone One, Territory Seven of Huicheng Three.

Yan Long, who was on leave, issued an invitation. "Commander Zheng, what time are you off today?"

Zhang Jingwu, who had just opened his mouth, immediately closed it and lowered his head, pretending to be very busy.

Zheng Chen smiled. "Once Third Brother returns to the territory, I can take a break. Shall I go to Territory Eleven?"

Why not the special training ground at Mountain Forty-Nine? Of course, that's because Mountain Forty-Nine is Azure Dragon Squad's turf, and Zheng Chen is non-Azure Dragon Squad personnel — entering Mountain Forty-Nine requires a fee.

Yan Long liked Zheng Chen's crisp decisiveness. "Good, after the fight let's grab a meal together."

Zheng Chen readily agreed.

Such a great observation opportunity — Xia Qing certainly wouldn't miss it. "Sister Yan, I'll bring five jin of green-light pork ribs over to add a dish?"

The purpose of Yan Long's current leave in Northern Zone One was to improve Xia Qing and Tan Qi's combat abilities. Even if Xia Qing hadn't spoken up, she would have called her over for close observation. "Sure, bring some lettuce too. We'll have grilled meat tonight."

Grilled meat and butter lettuce are a perfect match. Xia Qing immediately nodded.

Zhang San spoke lazily. "Territory Seven can't hold you two?"

Hearing that the big shot also wanted to watch, Zheng Chen looked at Yan Long, letting her decide the sparring location.

Yan Long smiled. "Of course it can hold us. Third Brother, may I eat at your territory's cafeteria tonight? I'll pay with points."

Zhang San didn't object. "Stewed ribs tonight."

Yan Long, who liked ribs, immediately thanked him. "Alright, thank you, Third Brother."

Xia Qing immediately followed up. "Once we return to the territory, I'll hand the ribs over to Sister Ping."

"Aoo — wuu —"

Hearing the wolf howl, Zhang Jingwu and Zheng Chen immediately entered mission mode, abilities fully activated, protecting Zhang San's safety. Yan Long couldn't tell which wolf it was, and synced up with Zhang Jingwu and Zheng Chen.

Zhang San looked out through the window. Xia Qing recognized this as Handsome Giant Wolf's howl and immediately pressed the walkie-talkie button. "Brother Duan, what's the situation?"

"Aoo — wuu aoo — wuu." From Xia Qing's earpiece walkie-talkie came Broken-Waist Wolf's reply.

"Copy that, I'll confirm right away." Xia Qing ended the conversation with Broken-Waist Wolf and contacted Xin Yu. "Xin Yu, is there anything abnormal to the northeast of Mountain Fifty?"

Hearing that this person and wolf could communicate without barriers using language, Zhang San felt a bit of a headache. Zhang He pretended not to know that Brother Duan was a wolf and continued reviewing the materials in his hands.

Hearing Xia Qing inquire about the situation, Zheng Chen assumed the outer perimeter was being held by a combat team deployed by Azure Dragon Squad, and immediately contacted the front vehicle to use its onboard reconnaissance equipment to closely monitor the surrounding situation.

Xin Yu replied, "There's one helicopter. I've already reported to Captain Tan, and Captain Tan is confirming."

Zhang Jingwu immediately contacted the anti-air missile vehicle behind them. "Vehicle Three, lock onto the helicopter to the northeast and prepare for counterattack."

"Copy!"

"Aoo — wuu —"

Handsome Giant Wolf was still howling in warning. The front Vehicle One reported, "Captain, three evolved wolves spotted on the Fourth Peak of Mountain Fifty, one of which is a giant evolved wolf."

Zheng Chen looked at Xia Qing. Xia Qing pressed the walkie-talkie button. "Brother Duan, Vehicle One spotted three evolved wolves on the Fourth Peak of Mountain Fifty. Keep close watch on the wolf pack's movements and don't let them break into the experimental zone."

"Aoo!!" Broken-Waist Wolf howled twice, with fire in its voice.

One of the conditions it accepted this mission under was that the humans protecting Zhang San must not discover the wolf pack's location, otherwise twenty percent of the mission points would be deducted.

The Fourth Peak of Mountain Fifty hasn't been polluted by Fierce Fire's toxic gas shells and remains a pristine evolved forest. It's perfectly normal for evolved wolves to hunt in the forest, so Zheng Chen's focus remained on the helicopter to the northeast.

Xin Yu reported, "Confirmed: the helicopter to the northeast belongs to Red One Base. The helicopter is carrying eight researchers from Red One University. Their purpose in entering Huicheng Three's airspace is to visit Northern Zone One's territory for exchange and study."

"Copy. Keep monitoring."

Xia Qing hung up on Xin Yu and reported to her idol.

Zhang San's good mood from the outing was instantly ruined. He spoke coldly. "Contact Zhang Song."

"Yes." Xia Qing immediately contacted Zhang Song inside Territory Seven. Hearing that Red One's people had arrived early without following the schedule, Zhang Song's voice also dropped icicles. "Sister Qing and Third Brother enjoy yourselves. I'll go deal with these old fossils."

Same-frequency evolver Guo Qingbin had arrived. Xia Qing lowered her head and used her phone to contact Broken-Waist Wolf, telling it this important information and warning it to stay alert and not approach within 200 meters of these people.

Last night, Xia Qing had already used a method the evolved wolves could understand to introduce what a same-frequency evolver was, and posted a photo of Guo Qingbin in the group chat, telling the wolf pack and monkeys to heighten their guard.

Xia Qing received replies from Broken-Waist Wolf and Daigua. Fourth and Queen didn't reply — those two are the aloof type, and not replying is normal.

Xia Qing put away her phone and continued protecting her idol.

The three armored vehicles rumbled north along the bumpy mountain road. The people inside rocked along with the vehicles. In the second vehicle, Zhang San kept a cold face and said nothing, and no one else in the vehicle dared speak.

Xia Qing broke the silence. "Third Brother, Territory Seven has already made contact with the people on that Red One helicopter. They're currently flying toward Northern Zone One's territory."

"There's no room for them in my territory."

"Understood." Xia Qing beep-beep-beep contacted Zhang Song, relaying her idol's order.
