Chapter 1680: Emergency Disaster-Containment Procedure Activated for Mountain Area 31

Yan Long administered anesthetic to the evolved tiger inside the cave, then took samples; the procedure and dosage both met regulations. But no one expected this was an evolved tiger poisoned with synthetic Qiang toxin.

The anesthetic dose a normal evolved tiger could handle might not be bearable for a tiger that was both poisoned and injured.

Gao Ying gave the order: "Yan Lian, hold the evolved tiger; I'll report to the base commander immediately. Qing-jie, contact Third Brother—do everything possible to keep this evolved tiger alive. Azure Dragon Team Three, take down the evolved tigers in Mountain Area 31 as fast as possible; all other members, abandon the search mission and immediately seal off the beast trails around Mountain Area 31 by sector."

According to regulations, when humans on a mission in the Evolution Forest discover synthetic Qiang toxin, they must immediately take effective measures to prevent the toxin from spreading and report to the base; the relevant department decides whether to activate the emergency disaster-containment procedure.

Mountain Area 31 is where the poisoned tiger lives and must be sealed off as soon as possible; the evolved tigers that just fought the poisoned tiger are very likely infected with the toxin and must also be brought under control quickly!

"Xia Qing, copy—contacting Third Brother immediately." After responding, Xia Qing immediately called her idol.

"Azure Dragon Team Three, copy—proceeding immediately with the evolved tiger anesthesia mission and sealing off the beast trails in the northwest of Mountain Area 31." Xie Yu responded.

"Aurora Team Two, copy—heading immediately to the southwest of Mountain Area 31 to seal off beast trails." The captain of Aurora Team Two responded.

……

In the northern sector of Hui-Three, apart from Wu Chengyu, the other experts gathered in the Territory Seven cafeteria—the main purpose was to greet the big shot Professor Fu Tianfeng, and the secondary purpose was to eat.

Zhang San had been in his private booth less than three minutes when he opened the door and walked out quickly. The researchers and experts dining in the Territory Seven cafeteria all stopped their chopsticks and fell silent, staring at him.

Zhang San swept his gaze around and quickly gave orders: "Qiang-18 toxin discovered in Mountain Area 31—activating the emergency disaster-containment procedure. I will serve as disaster-containment commander. Observation itineraries are halted immediately. Zhang He, prepare the disaster-containment instruments within fifteen minutes and set out for the disaster site; Zhang Song, prepare the antidotes for the poisoned evolved tiger within ten minutes and hand them to Zhang He. Zhang Zhao, print out the inventory of antidotes in storage within fifteen minutes; Zhang Xu…"

The Territory Seven researchers who received orders immediately stood up and ran toward the lab building.

Luo Weiyi, the Red Eleven special-ops trooper on duty at the door, grabbed Zhang Song—who was about to fall—and then hauled Zhang Zhao, who had nearly been tripped by Zhang Song, and sprinted at full speed toward the lab building.

After issuing ten consecutive orders, Zhang San looked at the two evolved-beast research experts in the cafeteria and extended a formal invitation: "Professor Li Yunkuan, Professor Zhu Xin—will the two of you accept the requisition and take part in this disaster-containment operation?"

"Accepted." Li Yunkuan from Lan-One and Zhu Xin from Gui-Five responded simultaneously.

As disaster-containment commander, Zhang San had the authority to directly requisition them for the operation; asking was giving them face, so of course the two had to accept.

Zhang San tapped his skull and said, "Please come with me to the command center, gentlemen. Experts from Lancheng and Guicheng, please return to your dormitories immediately. If I need any expert's assistance during the disaster-containment, I will contact you—please cooperate."

The experts here, of course, understood exactly what the discovery of the synthetic toxin Qiang-18 in the Evolution Forest meant. Whatever their reasons for coming here to study, they all immediately set down their bowls and chopsticks and returned to their dormitories—afraid that one step's delay might make people think they were uncooperative with the disaster-containment, or worse, that they were suspects who had released Qiang-18 into the Hui-Three Evolution Forest.

After entering the command center—Territory Seven's conference room—he quickly dispatched disaster-containment personnel in the safe zone to carry disaster-containment supplies to the danger zone.

Following the commander's orders, Li Yunkuan and Zhu Xin connected with Xia Qing and directed her in rescuing the evolved tiger.

Seeing the emaciated evolved tiger with patches of fur missing on the surveillance feed from Xia Qing's camera, the two experts exchanged a glance, their expressions grave.

Following the standard disaster-containment procedure, Xia Qing reported the situation to the two experts: "I am Xia Qing, the Lord of Territory Three, Hui-Three Base."

"I am Zhao Xing, medic of Hui-Three Special Ops Team One."

After the person beside her introduced herself, Xia Qing continued the procedure: "Per the commander's orders, before Zhang He arrives, Zhao Xing and I will, under the two experts' remote guidance, examine and administer emergency treatment to the poisoned evolved tiger designated 31-1. As ordered by the commander, I have already injected 31-1 with two doses of EAT-1 special-effect antidote."

"Copy." Li Yunkuan asked, "Director Xia, what are the main components and effects of EAT-1?"

The components were unknown; the effect was to cover up the injection Zhang Shi had given the tiger the day before—and when giving this injection, Xia Qing had to stab three times at an angle the head-mounted camera couldn't record, to conceal the needle marks left by Zhang Shi's injection the day before.

The truth obviously couldn't be told. Xia Qing answered calmly, "It's an emergency antidote prepared by Territory Seven, used in cases of poisoning. I don't know the components or the specific effects."

The two experts……

Zhao Xing……

In the command room, Zhang San quickly briefed the two experts on the antidote's components and effects. Li Yunkuan nodded: "No other injections or oral medication needed for now. Check 31-1's breathing, heartbeat, and blood pressure immediately, and treat the external wounds…"

Fifteen minutes after the emergency disaster-containment procedure was announced, on-site disaster-containment commander Zhang He, with two assistants, boarded a helicopter fitted with giant eagle claws and flew toward the disaster zone.

At the same time, six helicopters took off from the Hui-Three safe zone, heading in the same direction.

Helicopter after helicopter flew through the air and descended into Mountain Area 31. The southern wolf packs, southern hyena packs, and western tiger packs let out roars one after another, but with so many humans arriving, any predator with a shred of sense didn't dare come provoke them. The human disaster-containment teams quickly reached their designated zones and began sampling.

After Zhang He arrived at the Mountain Area 21 cave and took over treatment of the tiger, Xia Qing—a non-medical professional—pulled out of the cave. The first thing she did upon returning to her sniper post was open her phone and check her messages.

Seeing Zhang Shi's message and learning that the two of them and a wolf had already blocked the passage from the tiger's den to the small cave where they lived, Xia Qing breathed a sigh of relief.

In this disaster-containment operation, Xia Qing had two important tasks: one was to defend against the Blue Blood Alliance's intrusion, and the other was to keep Zhang Shi and Ye Yiyi safe.

The poisoning of the tiger had already come to light, and the Blue Blood Alliance had missed the window to kill the tiger and destroy the evidence—so by reason they wouldn't intrude into this mountain area again. Therefore, protecting Zhang Shi and Ye Yiyi became Xia Qing's primary reason for staying here.

After Xia Qing learned that Wu Chengyu had cancer, her original plan had been to wait until she came to carry out the intruder-search mission, then tonight use her helicopter to cover the southern wolf pack in moving Zhang Shi and Ye Yiyi to a safe location.

But plans never keep pace with change.

The base commander had directly sent the Lei Sha helicopter—renowned for its aerial reconnaissance—to the territory to pick up Xia Qing, so Xia Qing and the southern wolf pack couldn't move Zhang Shi and Ye Yiyi as planned and could only let them hide inside the stone wall.
