Chapter 1803: Giant Evolved Leech

Hui One's northern wolf pack — that is, Hui Three's southern wolf pack's former Wolf King, Lao Si — discovered that the human Xia Qing was willing to teach useful knowledge to the wolf pups, so he traded his notebook and phone with her, then took the initiative to gather the brain-evolved wolf pups born last year from the surrounding wolf packs and brought them along to learn human knowledge and improve their survival abilities.

Xiao Hei Mei came from Hui One's eastern wolf pack, Black-Nose Pup came from Hui One's southern wolf pack, and Tilt-Head Pup came from Hui One's western wolf pack. Xia Qing figured that if Hui Three's western wolf pack's pups born last year hadn't been abused and killed by humans, the brain-evolved ones among them would also have been pulled into the study class by Lao Si.

Tilt-Head Pup from Hui One's western wolf pack, upon seeing Big Grey Wolf approach, let out a call that pups only make when they see an adult wolf they're closely bonded to within the pack — there was only one possibility: Big Grey Wolf also came from Hui One's western wolf pack.

The atrocity of Hui Three's western wolf pack pups being abused and killed by humans had happened more than once among Hui One's eastern, western, and southern wolf packs, hyena packs, and other fierce beast groups, so the relationship between the evolved fierce beasts in Hui One's Evolution Forest and humans was extremely hostile.

Today, when the human Xia Qing entered the southern wolf pack's territory and approached the area where the pack was raising pups, the killing intent Big Grey Wolf showed was real. Now, seeing her grab Tilt-Head Pup and lock it up, Big Grey Wolf acted alone, using the sound of water and the cover of the dense forest to creep closer bit by bit — truly intending to kill her and rescue Tilt-Head Pup.

After confirming that Tilt-Head Pup could slip out of that strange stone, Big Grey Wolf withdrew his killing intent and retreated into the bushes, still not responding to Xia Qing's meaning.

Xia Qing didn't dare underestimate Big Grey Wolf's combat power, but the creature in the water emitting a Yi-element magnetic field was on the move — she had to act quickly, before it slipped through a channel at the bottom of the pool to somewhere she couldn't reach.

She asked Tilt-Head Pup, "Tilt-Head, can you keep an eye on Big Grey for me, and not let Big Grey attack me?"

"Aow." Tilt-Head Pup responded, then pulled the zipper open a bit more, poked half its body out, and stared intently at Big Grey Wolf hiding in the bushes.

Xia Qing said thanks, quickly extended, rotated, and locked the metal pole of the dip net, then slowly lowered it into the water. But before the net even reached the area emitting the Yi-element magnetic field, that magnetic field moved rapidly, escaping both the dip net's capture range and the range of Xia Qing's magnetic-sense perception.

This creature's fleeing speed was too fast — there was no way the dip net could catch it.

Xia Qing immediately pulled in the net, crawled into the snow bunker, sprayed some insect repellent to drive out all the small bugs that had flown in, then zipped it shut, took off the protective suit and changed into a diving suit, and then thanked Tilt-Head Pup, who was pawing at her protective suit with its front paws, "Thanks, Tilt-Head, for helping me take off the protective suit. I'm going into the pool to take a look — it'll be a while before I come back up, don't worry."

Tilt-Head Pup nodded solemnly, and after Xia Qing entered the pool, it still poked its head out, watching Big Grey Wolf in the bushes.

After Xia Qing disappeared, Big Grey Wolf lifted its nose and sniffed around, then quickly charged to the edge of the snow bunker, bit Tilt-Head Pup by the neck, and dragged it off into the dense forest.

When Scarface Pup returned to the valley carrying a black muntjac weighing over forty jin, it found that Xia Qing and Tilt-Head were both gone. It put the prey down, lifted its nose and sniffed for a while, then picked the prey up again, plunged into the dense forest, and found Tilt-Head Pup and Big Grey Wolf.

Scarface Pup gave the prey to Tilt-Head Pup, nuzzled Big Grey Wolf, then returned to the valley to guard the bunker and supplies Xia Qing had set up.

Xia Qing knew nothing of what was happening above — she was in the pool over twenty meters deep, using her magnetic sense to search for the creature that could emit a Yi-element magnetic field.

The seemingly calm surface waters of the pool contained a complete ecological chain — aquatic plants, insects, small fish, shrimp, snails, leeches, and other freshwater creatures could be seen everywhere.

Xia Qing, gripping a dagger, swam slowly along the bottom, pushing aside a patch of dense aquatic plants, carefully searching the pool floor for any waterway leading elsewhere, when a group of creatures ranging from a few centimeters to two meters in length launched themselves at her almost simultaneously — their bodies held rigid, like black spears.

This thing — Xia Qing knew it all too well — leeches!

If it were only a few dozen small leeches, Xia Qing wouldn't even bother dodging. But that two-meter-long big fellow was clearly an evolved species — her diving suit's protection rating wasn't high, and if it bit her or its venom corroded her even once, it would cost at least several dozen points to repair.

So Xia Qing kicked hard with both legs, using the water's reactive force to retreat rapidly backward.

The two-meter-long giant evolved leech lunged at empty air, its massive dark-brown body sweeping past Xia Qing and stirring up a cloud of murky water. At the same time, several dozen small leeches had already launched themselves over and latched firmly onto Xia Qing's diving suit.

The giant evolved leech didn't want to let this huge prey escape — its flat body twisted nimbly in the water and launched itself at Xia Qing again, its opened sucker aimed straight at her face mask, the dense hooked fine teeth on its jaw plates clearly visible.

Just as its sucker was about to press against the diving suit, Xia Qing flicked her left hand — a folded small fishing net snapped open in the water, its mouth precisely scooping up the front half of the giant evolved leech.

The giant evolved leech's flat body thrashed wildly in the net, trying to coil itself up to break free, but the more it struggled, the tighter the net ropes bit in. Xia Qing took the chance to close the net mouth, then used the ropes to wrap the leech up like a zongzi.

Just as she was about to kick her legs and float upward carrying the netted leech, she suddenly used her magnetic-sense evolution ability and caught the creature emitting the Yi-element magnetic field.

This creature's magnetic field had weakened, and the fluctuations were very pronounced!

Xia Qing unhesitatingly unclipped another folded fishing net from her waist, tread water and flipped over, dove back down into the murky bottom, used the net to precisely scoop up the moving magnetic field, then swam quickly toward the surface.

"Splash—"

"Aow-woo aow!"

Seeing Xia Qing shoot up out of the water, Scarface Pup hadn't even had time to cheer before it let out an anxious cry and charged toward Xia Qing, who was covered in leeches. The waterbirds in the air and nearby, seeing the leeches on Xia Qing, also began gathering around her, preparing to fight over this free feast.

"Scarface, these leeches can't hurt me — you're not wearing a protective suit, don't come over. Go into the bunker and bring out my satchel." Xia Qing had no time to deal with the over a hundred small leeches on her body, and hurried to check the Yi-evolved creature in the fishing net.

Good news — it was a fairly large bullfrog.

Bad news — it was a bullfrog that had been latched onto by three leeches and couldn't break free!

It must have been that just now, when Xia Qing lowered the net into the water trying to scoop it up, this bullfrog was startled and, fleeing in panic, had been caught by the leeches.

She swiftly killed the three leeches, rescued the bullfrog, put it into the sampling water tank, then stuffed the giant evolved leech bound in the fishing net into a beast-hide bag, before taking a bottle of potion from the satchel Scarface Pup had brought over and spraying it all over the diving suit.
