Chapter 1842: Try to capture alive

Qi Qi Zhongye remained silent, not answering the counter-question from Qu Qu Zhenghuan, the Minister of the Special Investigation Department for Major Cases under the China Security and Judicial Committee.

In the office of the Red One Base, the silver-haired Qu Qu Zhenghuan leaned back in his chair, sighed, and answered very seriously, "This matter is of great importance; I cannot tell you the identity of the mole. You speak, and I will answer."

Only then did Qi Qi Zhongye speak. "Fierce Fire Squad Deputy Captain, Qu Qu Fangzhou."

Qu Qu Zhenghuan was silent for two seconds. "She is indeed a mole, but she belongs to the other faction. Keeping her alive is still useful."

The other faction, which was the official Radical Faction.

Qi Qi Zhongye's voice was cold and hard. "Whether she is executing orders from superiors or her own stance has wavered, this person cannot be kept. Please issue the order, Department Head Qu."

When Qu Qu Fangzhou was in Fierce Fire, Fierce Fire had repeatedly dealt heavy blows to the Hui San Base; when Qu Qu Fangzhou "betrayed" Fierce Fire to join the Hui Five Branch of the Blue Blood Alliance, that department had used a Qiang-Explosive Bomb to try to kill Wu Cheng and destroy the Northern District One territory of Hui San.

If she was executing orders from the radical high-level officials of the official department, this person could not be kept; if she wasn't executing orders from high-level officials but was instead trying to achieve results quickly to gain the trust of the Fire Phoenix or Blue Blood high-level officials, this person was even less worthy of being kept.

Qu Qu Zhenghuan did not object again. "Capture alive if possible."

"Yes." After Qi Qi Zhongye hung up the phone, he replied to the inquiry Xia Qing had sent.

Mole? Capture alive? If possible?

After Xia Qing replied "Received," she turned her phone back to Airplane Mode, tucked it into her protective suit pocket, and asked in a low voice, "Big Sister Ten, is the difference between my magnetic field and that of the evolved wolves large?"

Zhang Shi gave a definite answer. "Very large."

The karst cave was winding and twisting, making it impossible to snipe the target from a long distance. If she got close, Xia Qing would be discovered by the opponent's Class C Magnetic Sense Evolver before she could even make a move.

Qu Qu Fangzhou's side had a Class C Magnetic Sense Evolver? She didn't know if they did, but she had to assume they did.

Xia Qing abandoned the plan to take action herself, took a small iron box from the bag at her waist, and looked at the old wolf. "Old Four, dare you take the wolf pack members to capture Qu Qu Fangzhou for revenge? Only capture her alone; don't alert the other human team members. That group's combat power and weapon equipment are not low; we cannot fight them head-on."

Old Four revealed its fangs, filled with murderous intent.

"Good!" Xia Qing fed the old wolf an antidote, then opened the small iron box, took out the micro-spray inside, nimbly tied it to the outside of Old Four's front leg, and instructed seriously, "Inside this is a super-evolved fungus that can corrode and penetrate special protective suits. As long as Qu Qu Fangzhou touches this super-evolved fungus, she will enter a state of suspended animation within fifteen minutes. If that squad leaves Qu Qu Fangzhou behind, you drag her back; if they take Qu Qu Fangzhou with them, don't stop them. Because the antidote for this pathogen is with me; if Qu Qu Fangzhou cannot inject the antidote in time, she will die in an hour."

The old wolf lifted its leg to look, then nodded.

Xia Qing was still worried and continued to instruct, "The effect is best within the first five minutes of the super-fungus exposure, and it will all die after fifteen minutes. Old Four, grasp the time well. If you don't succeed once, return immediately; we will think of other ways. Your safety is more important than hunting the enemy."

Old Four rubbed against Xia Qing, went over to sniff the Black Wolf King, let out a low growl, and darted out. The Black Wolf King took two evolved wolves and followed.

Seeing the wolf pack leave, the two leopards also picked up their cubs and followed, then the deer, muntjacs, antelopes, and other large or medium-sized herbivores, and finally two pangolins carrying cubs and a group of hopping rabbits.

The beasts of the Evolved Forest were accustomed to silence. In the karst cave passage, besides the sound of gurgling water, there was only the "da-da" sound of the hooves of ungulates stepping on stones, knocking against human hearts one after another.

After the main force left, Xia Qing untied the straps at her waist and shoulders, placed the wounded tiger steadily on the dry rock, raised her sniper rifle, and stood at the very front of the team to protect the safety of the entire squad.

Class C Magnetic Sense Evolver Zhang Shi used her ability to scout the magnetic field changes in the surroundings while checking the condition of the wounded. Broken-Ear stood on the other side of the wounded, executing guard duties with Xia Qing.

Inside the karst cave, in a winding passage about five hundred meters away, the Cold Cicada Second Squad solved two crocodiles that lunged at them and an evolved aquatic animal of unknown species, then protected the six important members of the Blue Blood Alliance Hui Five Branch, wading through the icy pool water to continue forward.

Humans were terrestrial animals, and they would involuntarily feel fear in the pitch-black pool water that was waist-deep. Yin Zhen, who was protected in the very center by the Cold Cicada Squad, broke the silence. "Is there any latest intelligence?"

Xu Bo, the leader of the Eighth Intelligence Group, responded immediately, "The wildfire is spreading toward the Eastern Evolved Forest of Hui One, and it is still more than 800 meters away from the firebreak. The firefighting teams dispatched by Hui One, Hui Three, and Hui Five are accelerating the widening of the firebreak."

Yin Zhen responded with an "en" and asked the Combat Evolver who was clearing the path ahead, "How much longer until we can walk out of this karst cave?"

The leader of the Cold Cicada Second Squad responded, "At the current speed, it will take another twenty minutes."

Yin Zhen felt a bit more at ease, but Qu Qu Fangzhou, who was wading forward behind him, had a very ominous feeling. She accelerated slightly, staying close behind Yin Zhen and wading forward side-by-side with Xu Bo.

Xu Bo glanced at Qu Qu Fangzhou, who was squeezing forward, and used his strong, tall body to push her aside. Li Li Yanuo, who was following behind Qu Qu Fangzhou, pretended not to notice anything and waded forward in silence.

Five minutes later, the Blue Blood Alliance squad that was fleeing crawled from the cold pool onto the slippery rocks and wound their way forward according to the pre-determined retreat route.

The Auditory Evolver of the Cold Cicada Second Squad tilted his head slightly and issued a warning, "Department Head Yin, there is sound in the karst cave ahead. The sounds are many and mixed; I can confirm there are ungulates and pangolins."

Ungulates would make sounds when walking, and pangolins' tails would drag on the ground, making them easy for an Auditory Evolver to scout.

The Olfactory Evolver of the Cold Cicada Second Squad spoke after careful scouting, "The air circulation here is poor; I cannot scout the scent of the animals."

Yin Zhen responded, "They should be evolved forest animals that fled into the karst cave to avoid the wildfire. Don't pay attention to them; continue forward."

"Yes." The Cold Cicada Second Squad protected Yin Zhen and the six others as they continued forward.

Qu Qu Fangzhou, feeling increasingly uneasy, asked, "Have you scouted any beasts, especially the movements and scents of evolved wolves?"

Old Four, the former Wolf King hiding in the karst cave fifty meters ahead, twitched its ears and locked onto the sound of Qu Qu Fangzhou's footsteps.

The scouting team member of the Cold Cicada Second Squad reported, "Not discovered for the time being."

Xu Bo reminded Qu Qu Fangzhou, "The top predator of this Evolved Forest is a group of black wolves. A wildfire started outside; it is very normal for wolves to flee into the karst cave."

The leader of the Cold Cicada Second Squad reminded, "Now is a disaster period. As long as we don't get close to the area where the wolf pack raises its cubs, the wolf pack will not actively launch an attack. Department Head Yin, everyone, watch your feet; try not to make any noise."

After the squad moved forward for another five minutes, the Olfactory Evolver and the Auditory Evolver reported almost simultaneously:

"Captain, our distance from the deer herd is getting closer and closer."

"There is the scent of evolved wolves nearby; the herd of beasts should have just passed through here." ===== CHAPTER 1843 =====
