Chapter 733: The Alliance's Purpose

Yue Haiying answered, "After signing up, you need to go to the hospital designated by the safe zone for a physical exam to confirm your physical condition. Dazi's situation is rather special—he can't sign up. Before he was poisoned, his Shang element content was 9‰ and his Yi element content was 6.2?. The test the day before yesterday showed his Shang element content at 26‰ and his Yi element content at 5.2?."

"His Shang element content in his body is still too high—it needs to be brought down as soon as possible." A Shang element content over 20‰ in the body is considered a dangerous level. The last time Xia Qing saw Dazi, he was in high spirits and had even gone out hunting, so she had assumed he had already dropped below 20‰.

She hadn't expected that his current numbers were only slightly better than Xia Qing's own last winter, after she had been hit by a poison gas bomb and taken a Yi element stimulant.

Additionally, before Zhang Hongda was poisoned, both his Shang and Yi element contents in his body were lower than Xia Qing's, which was quite normal. His Shang element content was lower because the meals in the military camp were much better than the meals Xia Qing had in the safe zone; his Yi element content was lower than Xia Qing's because he was a three-system ordinary Evolver, while Xia Qing was a three-system advanced Evolver.

"Once his poison is completely purged, it will slowly come down." Xia Qing was not the type to enjoy idle chatter—if she had opened her mouth, she definitely had business to discuss. Anticipation rose in Yue Haiying's heart, and he continued, "Actually, even if the poison on Dazi hasn't been purged and he's still at the brink of life and death, this batch of Shang-Reducing Agent won't be allocated to him."

First, because Dazi's contribution points aren't high enough; second, because he was poisoned with synthesized Shang poison. Until an antidote is found, even if he takes the Shang-Reducing Agent, the Shang element content that comes down will quickly be pushed back up by the synthesized Shang poison.

Hui-3 Base, with over 1.9 million people, has at least three or four hundred thousand people who need to take the Shang-Reducing Agent, and at least several tens of thousands waiting for the Shang-Reducing Agent to save their lives.

The Shang-Reducing Agent cannot save Dazi's life. So even though Yue Haiying was the one in power, he wouldn't use the medicine on him.

Xia Qing naturally caught the anticipation in Yue Haiying's tone, and she stated it directly, "I have one dose of Shang-Reducing Agent here—take it, Brother Yue. Use some on Dazi to bring his combat strength up. If anyone in Territory Fifteen needs the Shang-Reducing Agent to save their life, they can also take some, but the dosage cannot be less than 1 milliliter, otherwise it won't have any real effect."

The anticipation that had just risen instantly became reality. Even though he was a man of iron will who had crawled over mountains of corpses and seas of blood countless times, he couldn't help but let his voice tremble slightly. "Xia Qing, thank you. How many points is this dose, and what supplies do you need?"

"One dose of Shang-Reducing Agent is 8,000 points. I'll give you another 150,000 points—can you help me get a car that the military has retired? Sturdy and durable is fine; the more beat-up it looks on the outside, the better." Xia Qing needed to travel frequently between the territory and the trial zone. In emergencies she could ride a single-soldier flyer over, but single-soldier flyers were too conspicuous and burned too much fuel, so she wanted to get a car.

The road from the territory to the third peak of Mountain Fifty can accommodate vehicles. For the current Xia Qing, the time wasted on the road was worth far more points than the fuel burned buying a car.

The reason she chose a beat-up-looking car was that she didn't want to be too conspicuous.

"I can!" Yue Haiying agreed quite crisply. "The black-market price for the Shang-Reducing Agent is 130,000 points a dose—you don't need to give me points."

Xia Qing naturally disagreed. "We're in the same alliance. I got it from Third Brother for 8,000 points, so selling it to you is naturally the same price. If I wanted to make money, I wouldn't have given you the dose."

Yue Haiying stood at attention and solemnly pledged, "Understood. I will use this dose of Shang-Reducing Agent to boost the alliance's combat strength. Allies help each other, working together to farm the land well and survive together."

This was the founding purpose of the territory alliance, and also the common goal everyone was striving for.

After Yue Haiying excitedly discussed it with a few of his brothers in the territory, the very next day, the first stop after getting the Shang-Reducing Agent from Xia Qing was to rush to the hidden valley on Mountain Fifty.

Seeing the Shang-Reducing Agent the captain produced, Zhang Hongda—whose face was now covered with only a layer of small red bumps—and Li Kai, whose complexion was rosy, were both stunned. "This, this… where did the captain get it? How many points did it cost?"

Yue Haiying didn't beat around the bush. "8,000 points. Xia Qing proactively traded it to us."

Hearing this price, Zhang Hongda and Li Kai were even more shocked, but felt this was something Xia Qing would do.

Li Kai rubbed his face to calm himself down. "Brother Yue, coming to Territory Fifteen with you is the best decision I've ever made in my life."

When they were discharged, the army had arranged basic jobs in the safe zone for people like them who still had working capacity, and life could still go on. But when they learned that Yue Haiying was taking several brothers who had already been declared dead into the Northern Zone One territory and trying to find a way to save them, Li Kai and the others also gave up their safe-zone jobs and followed along. They might not be able to help with the big things, but they could still help out with miscellaneous tasks.

Now, Dazi's poison had been purged, and the other brothers also had hope. Their days had something to look forward to. Joining the territory alliance and becoming allies with Xia Qing and Zhang San was their blessing, and also their hope of staying alive.

Zhang Hongda also said, "Joining the territory alliance was the second right step we took after joining the territory. As long as no major disaster strikes, we'll never have to relocate again in our lives, and even when we die we can be buried here whole."

Time was pressing, so Yue Haiying got straight to the point. "This dose of Shang-Reducing Agent—Dazi takes 5 milliliters, and Ye Yang and the other five whose conditions are the most severe each take 1 milliliter…"

"Brother Yue, my poison has already been purged—I can't use this medicine!" Zhang Hongda sprang to his feet, knocking over the stone he had been sitting on.

This was the hidden valley; at the other end of it, in Xiong Dong, members of the Azure Dragon Squad stationed in the high-danger zone were still living. Making a loud noise could very likely expose the valley's existence.

Zhang Hongda quickly hooked his foot and pressed down on the stone that was about to topple over, and in the end no loud noise was made. All three of them let out a sigh of relief at the same time.

Among the 32 discharged soldiers in Territory Fifteen, 9 had relatively serious injuries or illnesses, and Zhang Hongda was one of them. Now that his poison had been purged, the Shang-Reducing Agent should be given to the 8 brothers in the territory who were still bedridden.

Yue Haiying gestured for Zhang Hongda to sit down, and explained the reason for this distribution. "The brothers' lives must be preserved, and the territory also needs people to protect it. The second Shang Rain is about to come, and when it does it will definitely be a tough battle. You and Yu Shou need to step up, so your Shang element level in your body must be brought below 20‰, otherwise you could lose control at any time during the Shang Rain."

"When the Shang Rain comes, this valley will be protected by Yi Stones. I will apply to the alliance in advance to have Ye Yang and the others move in here to recuperate, shielded from the Shang element's effects."

Seeing that Zhang Hongda was still being stubborn, Yue Haiying pulled a long face and cursed in a low voice, "You listen to me—if you take half the Shang-Reducing Agent and your Shang element content still doesn't drop below 20‰, I'll skin you alive!"

This was the company commander they were familiar with.

The instinct to obey orders in Zhang Hongda's blood immediately kicked in. "Yes, sir! I guarantee it'll drop below 20‰!"

"Keep your voice down." Yue Haiying glared at him, then said to Li Kai, "Your body's recovery has been pretty good, so this time you don't…"

Before the company commander could finish, Li Kai immediately declared his stance. "Brother Yue, I understand. I'm here eating well and resting well, and my Shang element content is already below 20‰. I don't need the Shang-Reducing Agent."

Yue Haiying nodded. "In five days, your days of eating well and resting well are over. Three brothers will switch in to guard the valley, and you two go back to work. Dazi needs to recover as soon as possible. If anything happens in an ally's territory during the Shang Rain, you must step up."

"Understood! My life was saved by Sister Qing. Forget Territory Three having a situation—even if Territory Three has no situation, I still want to go over and help with the work."

Li Kai snickered. "With that little strength of yours, if you go you'll probably be looked down on by Sister Qing."

Zhang Hongda gave his critical friend a look. "I may not have much strength, but I'm fast. If I can't till the fields or carry water, I can pull weeds and pick beans."

Seeing his subordinates getting more and more energetic, Yue Haiying glared. "All of you, say a few less words. Drink the medicine first—this insulated box won't hold out much longer."
