Chapter 805: A Powerful One with a Timid Face

~8 min read 1,469 words

"Huh?" Xia Qing didn't understand.

"The research conclusions published by Guicheng Base were drawn from long-distance observation of wolf packs using monitoring equipment; but you can communicate with and exchange supplies with evolved wolf packs, so your understanding of pure wild evolved wolf packs far surpasses that of the Guicheng Base researchers. If I were to write up the information on evolved wolf packs that you've gathered into a research report and publish it, it would surely shock the entire Blue Planet."

Zhang San shot a look at the thoroughly timid-faced Xia Qing. "Of course, there's no need for that."

Phew…

Only then did Xia Qing breathe a sigh of relief. Right, right, right, no need for that, really no need. Keep a low profile, we must keep a low profile.

Seeing the change in Xia Qing's expression, Zhang San laughed in exasperation.

Although there was no need to publish a research report, certain things Zhang San had to bring up. Otherwise, the strong woman with the timid face right before him might not realize just how significant what she was doing truly was.

Why was Xia Qing considered a strong one?

First, among the data Zhang San had gathered, although Xia Qing was not the only four-system Evolver in Hua Nation, she was the only four-system Evolver in whom every evolutionary ability had reached an advanced level.

Second, she was the only human within Hua Nation's borders to have earned the recognition of pure wild evolved wolves. She had already formed a de facto mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship with the evolved wolf packs in northern and western Hui San. She could call upon over a hundred evolved wolves, and her combat power within the Evolution Forest could only be described as terrifying.

Even more remarkable was that, despite possessing such powerful abilities and combat power, Xia Qing still had no desire for power over others, nor did she excessively pursue wealth. Her goal had always been the same: hold onto her territory and live freely.

Zhang San especially valued this last point.

Allying with Xia Qing gave Zhang San an unprecedented sense of solidity and hope. Perhaps one day, he really could choose his own research topics entirely on his own, and occasionally step out of the lab to eat at a restaurant or take a stroll through the Evolution Forest.

Thus, Zhang San very kindly reminded the timid yet powerful ally before him, "As long as you don't lose your original heart, you will surely pioneer a new model for humans and large evolved beasts to coexist peacefully. When that day comes, there will surely be a page in Blue Planet's evolution history that belongs to you alone."

Xia Qing…

A place in history? Was her idol treating her like Sheep Boss, humoring her?

Zhang San could tell from her expression exactly what Xia Qing was thinking, and his temper flared again. "Take your rat and get out of here, don't bother me while I nap."

"Yes, Third Brother has worked hard, Third Brother get some proper rest." Xia Qing stuffed the points card and the medicinal solution into her pocket, carefully placed the glass cover back over the red squirrel kit, and withdrew.

After returning to her territory, Xia Qing first took out a small piece of Use Yishi and hung it on the wall of the sheep pen.

During the Acid Rain, this piece of Use Yishi had hung here protecting this little squirrel. After the Acid Rain she had put it away for three days, then hung it back up to continue protecting this little fellow who had survived a great disaster and might yet be blessed with good fortune to come.

After hanging the Use Yishi, Xia Qing moved a few bundles of hay on the upper level, and using the clean pee pads Zhang Song had given her, made a warm and hygienic nest next to the Use Yishi. She then disinfected the still-comatose red squirrel and the two kits, and placed them in the new nest.

Last was the kit that had just had surgery. Xia Qing opened the glass cover and decided to give this little fellow—who had cost her forty-five thousand points and earned her a scolding—a name.

She cupped the little fellow in her hands and studied it carefully for a while, then decided. "Little Feimao, you owe me points. I'll keep this account for you first; when you grow up, you have to pay me back."

The extra thousand was the rescue fee Xia Qing charged for saving it from the goshawk's talons.

Pink follows its true owner. Her idol charged a hundred points for dripping a few drops of medicine, so of course Xia Qing had to carry forward this fine tradition. Considering it was still young, charging only a thousand points per bullet was already very reasonable.

After finishing her muttering, Xia Qing gently placed Little Feimao in the red squirrel mother's arms as well. It was still nursing, and mother's milk was its main source of resistance, so she couldn't isolate it alone.

After settling the red squirrel family, Xia Qing timed her steps, carried the bag of green-light crab fry Tang Huai had given her to the north gate of Territory Three, and handed them over to Zhang Hongda, who was waiting outside the north gate.

The valley's temperature and water quality were better suited to raising crabs, so the alliance members unanimously agreed to keep the crabs exchanged by every member of the Gewei Alliance in the pools already built inside the Hidden Valley, tended by the members of Territory Fifteen who lived there.

Tang Huai driving around to deliver the crabs to every member of the Gewei Alliance was merely for show, to throw people off the scent. Zhang Hongda and Yu Shou would take the opportunity of cutting bamboo in the afternoon to leave the territory, deliver the crabs and supplies into the Hidden Valley, then carry a few buckets of hot spring water back to the territory.

If successful, the Territory Alliance would raise crabs in the newly opened area within the valley.

According to Zhao Ze and Yue Haiying's calculations, based on the hot spring's water output and temperature inside the Hidden Valley, and by chiseling and expanding the stone walls within the valley to open up an additional mu of planting area, the valley's temperature and airflow would become more suitable for the growth of grain crops like wheat and rice.

Of course, the area that could be expanded within the valley was not arbitrarily marked off. Rather, it was calculated by Zhao Ze after extensively reviewing relevant materials, combined with the positions of the mountain fissures and the year-round sunlight intensity, wind direction, and wind speed on the halfway slope of the Third Peak.

The experiment at the high-danger zone on Peak Three of Territory Fifty, using red acid grass to absorb harmful substances from the soil, would be completed in mid-June. The danger level of the high-danger zone would be downgraded to medium-danger zone, and Zhang He would lead her research team back to Territory Seven, and the isolation shed at the high-danger zone would be dismantled.

Before the new experiment project began, there would be no resident research personnel or security teams on Mountain Fifty. The Lord Alliance would seize this window to carry out the valley expansion task.

According to plan, this task would begin in late June, after the lords had harvested more wheat and planted the Xia Bo crops. Zhao Ze would serve as task leader, with membership not fixed—whoever was free would go, with no fewer than five people per day.

In a couple of days, Xia Qing would go over and discuss this matter with Zhang Shi. If she found it too noisy, she could choose to move out of the valley during construction and move back after the valley expansion was completed.

Xia Qing picked a basket of fresh vegetables and returned home, mixed the feed for Sheep Boss, then carried the goshawk in its cage and hurried to Territory Eight to deliver the bird and have lunch.

Zhou Zhaoping respectfully opened the iron gate for Xia Qing. Xia Qing drove into Territory Eight, glanced at the evolved hawk hidden in the grass, got out of the car, and greeted Zhou Zhaoping.

Zhou Zhaoping escorted her to the little white building where Xin Yu lived. "Our lord is preparing lunch; please come in."

Xia Qing raised the cage in her hand so Xin Yu, who was wearing an apron inside the house, could see it, then asked Zhou Zhaoping, "Won't Uncle Ping eat with us?"

Zhou Zhaoping, dressed in a suit, smiled and explained, "Tang Dong called me to Territory Twelve for a get-together and a casual meal."
