Chapter 45: Pleading for Mercy
Wen Xishu had a hypothesis: the people from the bunker came from the Three Towers world.
The Three Towers world was not originally located within the three towers, but was a world that truly existed, and places like Moen City and Jiangcheng could be compared to the original world before he transmigrated.
He did not know what customs existed in the country where Mendemuer lived in the Three Towers world.
But in his original world, in that place called the Middle East, the status of women was extremely low.
The discrimination against women by people there would only be more exaggerated than that of a white devil like Kane. Yet, according to Mendemuer’s description, he was bullied by women and left with nothing after the divorce...
If women in the bunker truly had such high status, there wouldn't be a large number of people like Park Yingshuang. Nor would there be scum like Kane who trafficked women's organs.
Therefore, unless Mendemuer had committed atrocities, he really wouldn't have been sentenced to such a miserable fate.
The second person Wen Xishu wanted to kill was Mendemuer.
Mendemuer climbed very quickly. His climbing ability was no less than Kane's, and after the stimulation just now, he no longer wanted to dwell on whether Wen Xishu was also faking it.
He only wanted to get away from this place as quickly as possible! He could not hesitate and suffer defeat like Kane.
That was indeed what he thought, and he soon arrived in front of the music box.
Kane’s flesh and blood had long been shredded by the tentacles. This pile of gore lay right in front of the music box; one could see that Kane had tried to reach out and touch it, with one finger still lying on the ground, pointing at the box.
Mendemuer rushed over.
When his hand touched the music box, a different prompt appeared in his mind, just as expected.
【You have found an item that bears traces of immense sin. Do you wish to purify it?】
The difference from the previous prompt was that the modifier "immense" appeared before "sin."
This made Mendemuer firmly believe that he had found the correct item.
He was ecstatic, wondering whether he should take that Wen Xishu with him; after all, the kid had analyzed things quite correctly.
But then he had a second thought: the person that kid wanted to take away was that pervert who ate human flesh. Thinking of the way Wen Xishu rolled up his sleeves to feed meat to Zheng Zai...
He immediately dismissed this thought.
Mendemuer prepared to leave, but what happened next caused his smile to freeze forever.
"Save—"
He didn't have time to scream for his life before a vast expanse of black mist engulfed Mendemuer.
Those eerie tentacles writhed with joy at this sudden arrival of flesh and blood. Mendemuer’s body was like a nest for the tentacles.
He was dead.
He died with immense fear, bewilderment, and confusion. The sound of the music box was high-pitched, as if cheering for those who had died.
Hearing the music box ring out, hearing the sound of flesh being torn apart that had occurred several times in a short period—
Park Yingshuang fell to his knees with a thud, his eyes filled with despair.
"Are... are we all going to die?"
Park Yingshuang muttered to himself, on the verge of a breakdown.
This was only the first room, and only a short while had passed, yet the team of six had become a team of three.
Now, the only ones left alive were Park Yingshuang, the madman Wen Xishu, and the flesh-eating pervert Zheng Zai.
Park Yingshuang regretted it deeply now; why had he taken this mission?
Before long, the music box returned to silence.
Wen Xishu said:
"Let's go. Based on the path of the anti-AFK mechanism that appeared last time—the next anti-AFK mechanism should be right here where we are staying. Let's climb to the middle layer of the bookshelf to find a new hiding spot."
Wen Xishu was very calm.
Park Yingshuang suddenly grabbed Wen Xishu’s hand, his eyes filled with a touch of earnestness:
"Don't... don't kill me, okay? Wen Xishu, I know it's you... I beg you, don't kill me! Don't kill me!"
Zheng Zai looked at Wen Xishu with some confusion.
Park Yingshuang had already realized that all of this was Wen Xishu using the rules to kill people. He had seen that trace of a smile on the corner of Wen Xishu’s mouth not long ago.
This made him shiver.
But Zheng Zai was still relatively honest.
When Mendemuer had dragged Wen Xishu down, Zheng Zai had wanted to rush up to help Wen Xishu.
But a look and a shake of the head from Wen Xishu had stopped Zheng Zai.
Later, when Mendemuer died, Zheng Zai only thought that Wen Xishu had guessed wrong...
So the pollutant that needed to be purified was not the music box.
He was even somewhat grateful to Wen Xishu for saving his life again.
But Park Yingshuang was gradually realizing—Wen Xishu was using the rules to kill people.
He might not have done it himself, but he used verbal guidance to lead his teammates to their deaths one by one.
Park Yingshuang was not entirely without brains, and he knew that Wen Xishu was a very capable person himself.
Once the fact that Wen Xishu had brought people back from the Level 6 hospital was established, Park Yingshuang became skeptical about the idea that Wen Xishu had been a madman or a fool in the past.
He even felt that the other party was playing the pig to eat the tiger, a true display of forbearance.
And that trace of a smile from Wen Xishu a moment ago made Park Yingshuang understand everything immediately.
More dangerous than the rules was this teenager!
"I, I promise, I am absolutely on your side, Wen Xishu, please spare me... take me out of here, okay?"
Wen Xishu’s gaze was indifferent. He stood with his back to Zheng Zai, looking at the kneeling Park Yingshuang with an extremely detached expression.
The light in Park Yingshuang’s eyes gradually faded.
He understood: even though he had laid his cards on the table, the other party still wouldn't take the bait... that meant Wen Xishu was determined to kill everyone.
Even exposing his intentions had no effect at all.
At this moment, Wen Xishu’s image became somewhat terrifying.
He had entangled with so many high-level political figures; which of those people wasn't a master of manipulation?
Yet looking at Wen Xishu, he felt that this was a demon. A person with a devil hidden in his heart.
However, Wen Xishu spoke up next:
"Captain, I don't understand what you're talking about. What do you mean by sparing you? But you should get up first."
"Aside from this room, there are three other different scenes."
"I don't have the confidence to figure out all the rules without relying on my teammates."
"The Trick Tower is truly terrifying... so many have died since we entered. I really don't want anyone else to die, and you feel the same, right? But then again—"
"There are still many rules to come. I have to be careful not to analyze them wrong and harm you all."
Park Yingshuang was stunned for a moment, then immediately realized that this was Wen Xishu warning him while also giving him a chance.
He nodded frantically, like a puppy trying to please its master:
"I will be useful to you! You can ask me, I will tell you everything I know! I know about his affairs! I've heard about his father's affairs! I can tell you everything!"
Park Yingshuang no longer wanted to care about any missions. He only wanted to survive now.
He was also certain that Wen Xishu had actually seen through his identity.
He dared not underestimate this teenager ever again. His hand pointed toward Zheng Zai.
Actually, Park Yingshuang hadn't been entirely sure before, but now, in order to survive, he had to ensure he had value.
He felt that Wen Xishu seemed to care about Zheng Zai; although Zheng Zai was a pervert, Zheng Zai had tried to purify items several times, but was stopped by Wen Xishu each time.
So he began to think frantically whether there were any clues about Zheng Zai, and whether any of the officials he had slept with had mentioned Zheng Zai.
Fear and the desire to survive made Park Yingshuang’s brain much sharper.
He actually did recall some things; although he wasn't certain, they were enough to prove his value.
Zheng Zai asked in confusion:
"You... you know about my affairs?"
Wen Xishu was actually thinking about what the real "pollutant" was.
If it wasn't the music box, what could it be?
He wasn't very interested in Zheng Zai’s past, but he did a favor for him anyway:
"Captain, tell him everything you know."
Wen Xishu didn't care about these things; his hand had already reached toward the invitation.
