Chapter 108: The Domineering Tigress
Liu Liu Yifei. Jiang Jiang Mingyu was slightly stunned: "At this time, why has she come?"
Jiang Jiang Mingyu's brow suddenly furrowed, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.
His pupils contracted slightly, his gaze falling upon Liu Liu Yifei, secretly wondering in his heart why she had come at this moment.
During these few days away from Shangmu, busy rushing about everywhere, he had indeed thought of this beautiful woman from time to time. Liu Liu Yifei's sweet smiling face surfaced in his memory, and Jiang Jiang Mingyu's corners of the mouth unconsciously lifted slightly.
But at this critical juncture, it must be said, Liu Liu Yifei's arrival was ill-timed.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu sighed, the smile on his face gradually vanished, and his brows locked tightly once more.
He knew the situation was severe, and the visitor was inconvenient.
With no choice, Jiang Jiang Mingyu also knew to force a smile: "Quickly, invite her in."
He put on a perfunctory smile, his tone distant and formal, yet there was little amusement in his eyes.
Soon, Liu Liu Yifei's beautiful face appeared in Jiang Jiang Mingyu's field of vision.
Her red lips parted slightly, her gaze drifting seductively toward Jiang Jiang Mingyu, a faint blush rising on her face.
Her fingers nervously twisted the hem of her clothes, as if hiding something.
Only she was not alone; beside her walked that proud and tsundere Zhang Zhang Jiani.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu's gaze turned to Zhang Zhang Jiani, his brows furrowing slightly, still remembering how she had nearly cost him his life.
Zhang Zhang Jiani wore a cold face, her eyes indifferent, devoid of any smile.
But owing to Liu Liu Yifei's sake, he also offered a perfunctory smile: "Two Misses, please come inside." His tone was neither cold nor hot, merely a polite formality, his eyes warily scanning the two.
Hearing this, Liu Liu Yifei immediately performed a graceful bow toward Jiang Jiang Mingyu, while Zhang Zhang Jiani showed no reaction whatsoever.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu was too lazy to hold a grudge against her; seeing the two seated, he finally spoke: "Two Misses, what is your instruction?"
Liu Liu Yifei smiled gently: "Hearing that my lord has returned from suppressing bandits, this humble woman has come specifically to ask after your health on my father's orders." Her face showed slight embarrassment, her voice soft and coquettish, her eyes darting away.
Only she knew that sneaking into the county yamen was not Liu Ximen's intention at all.
Her fingers nervously twisted the hem of her clothes, excitement peeking through her shyness.
Before Jiang Jiang Mingyu could speak, Zhang Zhang Jiani, sitting beside him, suddenly spoke in a somewhat provocative manner.
She said: "Suppressing bandits, truly unexpected, you dog official still have some courage." Her tone was contemptuous, her eyes disdainful.
"This Miss thought your dog eyes were only for pretty much looking at ladies, yet could not see those hateful bandits." She let out a cold sneer, looking mockingly at Jiang Jiang Mingyu, her flushed face revealing anger.
Liu Liu Yifei's small face turned redder: "Zhang Jiani, is that what you are saying?" Her voice was so small she almost made herself invisible.
Blushing to the roots of her neck, she dared not look at Jiang Jiang Mingyu, her tone weak.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu, already irritated, gave her no good face either: "Looking at pretty ladies, so what?" His brows locked tightly, his tone unfriendly, his eyes cold.
The corners of his mouth curled into a cold sneer, hidden anger faintly visible in his eyes.
"Unlike some people, fierce all day long; if they want this official to look, this official doesn't even care." He glanced mockingly at Zhang Zhang Jiani, his tone full of disdain.
Zhang Zhang Jiani instantly flew into a rage: "Dog official, who are you talking about?" She suddenly stood up, the chair "Bang!" being overturned by her onto the floor.
Her eyes bulged round, her face flushed red, glaring angrily, her fists clenched, killing intent radiating from her entire body.
Seeing that she too had a moment of being stuck, Jiang Jiang Mingyu couldn't help but feel a secret thrill: "This official says who, who knows clearly in their heart." He looked provocatively at Zhang Zhang Jiani, his tone revealing schadenfreude, his smile full of mockery.
Zhang Zhang Jiani's big eyes widened: "You..." She was so angry she was speechless, her blood boiling throughout her body, her teeth clenched tightly, wishing to tear Jiang Jiang Mingyu into a thousand pieces.
Speaking thus, she habitually reached out a hand, wanting to touch the short sword beside her.
But immediately she realized that just now, fearing she would cause trouble, Liu Liu Yifei had already "confiscated" her short sword.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu looked even more pleased: "Miss Zhang, what are you looking for? Do you want this official to help you find it?" He pretended to be eager, yet his tone was full of mockery, his eyes revealing a hidden smile.
Zhang Zhang Jiani could no longer hold back: "Dog official, you seek death." She ground her teeth, her eyes bloodshot, already lost to control.
Killing intent radiated thickly from her body as she stared fixedly at Jiang Jiang Mingyu, poised to strike.
The instant the last word hit the ground, her entire body lunged toward Jiang Jiang Mingyu.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu's eyes widened, his face pale, instinctively shrinking backward, his heart only wanting to flee from this madwoman.
But just as Zhang Zhang Jiani had not yet rushed out a few steps, Liu Liu Yifei, who had been silent for a while, suddenly spoke.
She said somewhat nervously: "Zhang Jiani, have you made enough of a scene? Stop quickly." Her tone revealed hidden anger, and her brows also furrowed tightly.
Hearing the sound, Zhang Zhang Jiani suddenly froze, looking at Liu Liu Yifei with a complex expression, and finally lowered her hand.
Only then did Jiang Jiang Mingyu quietly exhale, glancing gratefully at Liu Liu Yifei; fortunately, she was present.
Seeing both had calmed down, Liu Liu Yifei finally spoke: "Zhang Jiani is rude, please do not take offense, Lord Jiang." She bowed slightly, her face showing apology, her tone gentle and humble. A trace of anger, hard to notice, flashed in her eyes, and her Bai Xi fingers curled unnaturally.
Looking at that fierce face like a mother tiger, Jiang Jiang Mingyu, who had just escaped disaster, said nothing more.
He merely gave a faint "Hmm," his eyes avoiding Zhang Zhang Jiani, still shaken. Cold sweat still rose on the back of his neck, and he swallowed.
Having spoken only a few words with Liu Liu Yifei, Li Goudan, with a beard full of stubble, walked straight in from the inner hall. He clasped his hands toward Jiang Jiang Mingyu and said in a rough voice: "Reporting to my lord, everything is packed." His face was piled with smiles, his eyes squinting as he looked at Jiang Jiang Mingyu, excitement overflowing on his face.
Liu Liu Yifei couldn't help but ask: "Did my lord not just return to Shangmu? Why go out again?" Her eyes widened slightly, her tone full of confusion and reluctance.
A blush climbed her cheeks again, and she lowered her head, daring not to look at Jiang Jiang Mingyu.
Just after speaking these words, her face, which had just faded from crimson, turned red once more. She quickly shifted her gaze, daring not to look at Jiang Jiang Mingyu, her earlobes burning, her fingers twisting even tighter.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu noticed nothing unusual; he said faintly: "This official is going to the prefectural city, leaving tomorrow morning." His tone was calm, revealing no more information.
Prefectural city. Zhang Zhang Jiani, who had just calmed down, ignited again: "Dog official, what are you going to the prefectural city for?" She squinted her eyes, her tone aggressive.
"Do you feel Shangmu is too boring, wanting to go to the prefectural city to indulge in wine and women and improve your life?" She looked provocatively at Jiang Jiang Mingyu, acting as if she had seen through him long ago.
Liu Liu Yifei helplessly shook her head, not agreeing with Zhang Zhang Jiani's words.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu was also too lazy to pay attention to her, merely shifting his gaze coldly, not wanting to be provoked again.
He pressed his lips tight, striving to control his emotions.
Seeing Zhang Zhang Jiani was about to use force again, Liu Liu Yifei, who was holding a teacup, helplessly sighed and waved her hands repeatedly, wanting her to calm down.
Her voice trembled slightly, her brows furrowed tightly, worried the situation would lose control again.
She looked at Jiang Jiang Mingyu thoughtfully: "Since my lord travels far tomorrow, we will not disturb you." Liu Liu Yifei said gracefully, a trace of reluctance passing through her eyes. She bit her red lips, her eyelashes trembling slightly, her gaze warm yet worried.
"When my lord returns from the provincial capital, please come to my humble home for a chat. Farewell." She said softly, bowed to Jiang Jiang Mingyu, then took Zhang Zhang Jiani, whose face was extremely grim, and walked out. Her back was elegant and composed, yet worry showed in the corners of her eyes; her steps unconsciously slowed, as if waiting for something.
Watching the two backs, Jiang Jiang Mingyu gave a bitter smile: "Let us speak of it after I return alive from the provincial capital." He murmured to himself, his voice low, his expression complex.
He forced a smile to the corners of his mouth, yet could not hide the depression in his heart.
No sooner had the two left when Zhu Ge Yu, now changed into wide-sleeved robes, hurriedly came back in.
He strode forward with long steps, his face displeased, his brows tightly furrowed, his mouth turned down, his expression full of complaint.
He exhaled a breath of cool air: "Master, I heard you want me to return to Scorpion Gully. What is going on?" His tone was dissatisfied as he slapped the table and rose.
"That place is a poor, remote backwater, and there is no war to fight. I won't go. I want to return to the provincial capital." He pouted, adopting an attitude of preferring death to obedience, with stubbornness shining in his eyes.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu gestured for him to sit: "My lord sending you to Scorpion Gully is a matter of no other choice." His tone was calm; he wanted to persuade Zhu Ge Yu, his hands clasped together in entreaty.
Zhu Ge Yu stiffened his neck: "Say whatever you like; I am not going." He said angrily, flung his sleeves, and was about to leave, his face full of disdain for Jiang Jiang Mingyu.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu's eyes darted quickly: "As long as you make the trip, my lord will give you five new poems. How about that?" He raised the offer again, trying to coax Zhu Ge Yu, with cunning shining in his eyes.
Zhu Ge Yu's eyes lit up, and he softened: "Ten poems." He smiled cunningly, held up ten fingers, and a hint of triumph flashed in his eyes.
The next day, at Shangmu City Gate, the morning wind howled.
Jiang Jiang Mingyu stood on the city tower, his figure tall and straight, his gaze firm.
"Provincial capital, Prince Qi, my lord is coming to meet you." He said in a deep voice, his tone resolute; his windcoat fluttered, his gaze burned like fire, and his whole body radiated thick killing intent.
