Chapter 170: The God of Killing

~7 min read 1,375 words

On the city wall, a roar drew everyone's attention. A burly man bellowed, his eyes sharp and beard coarse—Zhou Xun from Luoxie City.

"Jiang Mingyu, you traitor, come out and face me!" His voice was shrill and wild, like a ferocious beast intent on tearing apart its prey.

Hearing this, Tukesluo leapt to his feet, fire burning in his eyes; he was about to swing his blade when Jiang Mingyu stopped him. Jiang Mingyu knew that while Tukesluo was brave, the enemy's forces were numerous—rash action would only trap them in a death sentence.

Jiang Mingyu stepped onto the rampart, his expression icy as he faced Zhou Xun's provocation, yet his eyes held a deep calm.

"Zhou Xun, what is your purpose?" His voice was cold, like wind over a glacier—bone-chilling and merciless.

Zhou Xun laughed loudly, his eyes filled with fanaticism and malice. "Jiang Mingyu, you killed Minister Lü! We've come for vengeance! You traitor, today you die!"

Jiang Mingyu's heart stirred—he now understood. Zhou Xun was an old friend of Lü Kai. No wonder he was so enraged.

At that moment, Tukesluo could no longer hold back. He swung his long blade like a wild wolf charging straight at Zhou Xun.

"You beast! Die!" His roar shook the heavens, thick with murderous intent.

Jiang Mingyu saw it and was stunned. "Tukesluo, watch out for ambushes!" He shouted urgently, hoping to halt Tukesluo's reckless charge.

Zhou Xun watched it all, a cold smirk curling his lips. "Jiang Mingyu, today you are dead! I'll show you what becomes of traitors!"

Jiang Mingyu heard him, yet felt no fear. He knew this was the moment of life or death—only a desperate fight offered any chance of survival.

The banners on the wall flapped fiercely in the wind. The two armies stood locked in silence, waiting for the battle that would decide their fates.

Zhou Xun's foul mouth made Tukesluo tremble with rage.

He steadied his stance, then raised his great blade, eyes blazing red, and roared.

"You bastard! Die, you son of a dog!"

With that, he charged at Zhou Xun with all his strength, blade flashing like lightning, murderous aura surging into the sky.

And at that moment, the very thing Jiang Mingyu feared came to pass.

A voice below the rampart shouted loudly.

"Brothers! Jiang Mingyu is a great traitor—he killed the County Magistrate and the Commandant, forcing us to surrender!"

"Now Luoxie City's reinforcements have arrived. Jiang Mingyu and this black-faced bastard are finished."

"Let's join Luoxie City's forces, turn on them, and avenge our fallen officers!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than every Eastern Peace City defense soldier grabbed their weapons and launched a frenzied attack on the Shangmu soldiers in different uniforms.

The Shangmu soldiers were completely unprepared; caught off guard, they were cut down in an instant, blood and flesh flying.

The corpses and the stench of blood stirred the Shangmu soldiers' nerves. They drew their swords and knives and fought back with desperate ferocity.

Jiang Mingyu had never faced such chaos.

He sweated profusely, his mind racing in panic.

What do I do? What do I do?

Suddenly, a thought struck him like lightning.

He shouted at once.

"Tukesluo! Quickly! Kill Zhou Xun!"

The Eastern Peace City defense soldiers dared to rebel only because Zhou Xun and his four thousand elite troops had given them confidence.

If Zhou Xun could be slain and his forces scattered, the Shangmu soldiers' strength and morale might still turn the tide.

Tukesluo, charging toward Zhou Xun, heard Jiang Mingyu's cry and instantly understood his intent.

Braving the icy wind and splattering blood, he roared.

"You dog! Wait for me!"

Zhou Xun had never taken Tukesluo seriously.

With the Eastern Peace City soldiers' betrayal, he believed victory was already his.

He burst into laughter.

"Jiang Mingyu! You're a traitor who deserves ten thousand cuts! Will you still deny it?"

"Even your own men have betrayed you! This is fate!"

Before he finished speaking, he saw Tukesluo's blade, gleaming with cold light, slashing toward his throat.

Zhou Xun had no time to dodge. The sneer still curled on his lips when the sharp blade pierced his throat.

Tukesluo twisted his blade with a muffled thud. Zhou Xun's head flew like a football toward the battle at the city gate.

Then his blade came down again, cleaving Zhou Xun's corpse into pieces.

His movements were clean, precise, merciless.

All of this happened in the blink of an eye.

Jiang Mingyu saw Tukesluo's heroic act and felt immense relief.

He quickly called out to Tukesluo.

"Good job! You're a real man!"

Then he shouted to the Shangmu soldiers.

"Brothers! Zhou Xun is dead! His troops are in disarray! Charge! Kill them all!"

With that, he seized his own blade and led the charge against the enemy.

The Shangmu soldiers, inspired by Jiang Mingyu's resolve and courage, rallied fiercely.

They followed Jiang Mingyu in a final, thunderous assault.

At that moment, Tukesluo, alone, charged forward with his blade toward nearly four thousand armed enemies; Jiang Mingyu's heart nearly leapt from his throat.

This brat is too reckless—is he trying to die?!

Jiang Mingyu clenched his fists into claws, terrified he'd see Tukesluo hacked to bloody pulp in the next instant.

Tukesluo's face was resolute, his eyes blazing with murderous rage. He lunged left and right, blade flashing so fast it blinded the eye.

*Plos! One enemy's head flew clean off his neck, arcing through the air before crashing to the ground with a *thump*, brains and marrow splattering everywhere, drenching Jiang Mingyu's face in sticky blood.

"Damn it!" Jiang Mingyu screamed, nearly fainting.

Before he could catch his breath, more *plos* and *plos* rang out—several enemies were cleanly severed by Tukesluo's blade, limbs and organs spilling across the ground.

The wet, slicing sound of flesh being cut was crisp and horrifying; Jiang Mingyu shuddered, half his body going numb.

At first, the enemy soldiers cowered like mice, but after witnessing Tukesluo's ferocity, their rage ignited. They surged forward in a frenzied rush, shields and spears raised, like a tidal wave crashing toward Tukesluo.

As Jiang Mingyu worried desperately, Tukesluo let out a thunderous roar and leapt into the air like a swift leopard.

Jiang Mingyu stared in disbelief as Tukesluo flipped midair, blade slicing—another enemy exploded into pieces, brains and blood splattering across Jiang Mingyu's face.

"Holy shit!" Jiang Mingyu gasped, nearly passing out.

Too cruel—he was like a demon from hell!

Before Jiang Mingyu could recover, another clatter of clashing blades rang out, followed by a cry of pain. One enemy collapsed. Jiang Mingyu then noticed a deep gash on Tukesluo's left arm.

Tukesluo was clearly weakening—he was only human, after all.

At that moment, two enemies seized the chance, stabbing from front and back, spears aimed at Tukesluo's spine and waist, determined to kill him.

Jiang Mingyu nearly shouted out—but Tukesluo executed a perfect midair somersault, evading both spears with flawless precision.

Yet as he retreated, another enemy's spear slashed across his side, drawing blood that instantly stained his white armor...

Jiang Mingyu watched as Tukesluo, alone, was surrounded and overwhelmed—he was finished.

A mob of enemies, eyes red with rage, surged toward Tukesluo, hacking wildly, shouting: "Kill this beast! Avenge our Captain!" "Chop him! Chop him!"

Jiang Mingyu's heart pounded in terror—he feared Tukesluo would be reduced to meat paste in the next second.

Tukesluo was drenched in blood; his polished blade gleamed coldly in the light.

He flipped end over end, slashing left and right, killing two more enemies. Jiang Mingyu's vision blurred—he nearly fainted.

Just as Jiang Mingyu could no longer bear to watch, the Shangmu soldiers finally broke through the city gate, slashing and shouting: "Save us! Protect General Tukesluo!"

Jiang Mingyu finally exhaled—he thought Tukesluo had been saved.

But Jiang Mingyu's relief was premature. Tukesluo suddenly staggered, crimson blood soaking through his pristine armor.

"Damn it! Looks like I'll die here!" He gave a bitter smile. Jiang Mingyu's heart shot to his throat.

At that critical moment, Jiang Mingyu roared: "Tukesluo, fall back! All troops, shoot arrows!" A dense rain of arrows pierced the screaming enemies; in moments, bodies littered the ground, thick with the stench of blood.
