Chapter 127: The Troubles of an Invisible Man
Hot Recommendation:
"So, you think these long hairs are what made you invisible?" Hermione asked in surprise, looking at the... well... hard to describe... figure sitting across the long table.
All they could see across the long table was a transparent "clothes hanger," or more accurately, a full set of clothes floating in mid-air on its own, stretched out as if a transparent person were inside.
But strangely, that set of clothes consisted of long sleeves and long trousers; one must remember that the weather at Hogwarts in September was still quite warm, and the other young wizards were dressed much more lightly.
They saw the sleeves of that set of clothes move; a cup floated in the direction the sleeve was facing, yet the sleeve made no contact with the cup. Then the sleeve controlled the cup to float up to the collar of the clothes, and a sound of swallowing followed, as the pumpkin juice in the cup miraculously vanished.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione did not seem surprised by this scene...
"There is no other explanation." A familiar voice suddenly came from above the collar of the clothes; it was none other than our protagonist, Allen.
After his roommates had cast the spell to lift the curse, Allen had tried many methods to end the invisible state, but to no avail. Helpless, he could only put on long sleeves and long trousers before going downstairs to eat. He wore long sleeves and trousers to have a reference point while walking.
This method worked quite well; at least now Allen walked and moved quite normally.
However, walking around Hogwarts in this outfit was a bit frightening; anyone seeing a set of clothes stretched full floating around would feel quite terrified.
This journey had already caused a lot of commotion; many frightened young wizards' first reaction was to cast a Yi Dao Mo Zhou on this floating set of clothes, forcing Allen to dodge the spells in various poses. In the end, he simply had Harry and Ron flank him, one in front and one behind, so it wouldn't be so terrifying.
The other young wizards at Hogwarts gradually learned of Allen's situation. They never expected Allen to come up with new tricks in transfiguration, and now they were all secretly observing Allen from a distance.
Even the ghosts of Hogwarts were very interested in Allen's appearance today. They followed Allen all the way, seeming to think Allen was a new species of ghost, and were now floating above Allen, whispering to each other.
"I have tried many methods, but I cannot remove the invisibility. In a moment, I plan to go to Professor McGonagall to ask for her help." Allen continued eating his food. He dared not eat ravenously now; he could only eat very slowly, because without being able to see where his mouth was, the food could really end up in his nose.
"Then have you tried shaving off the long hairs on your body?" Ron suddenly offered a suggestion.
"I considered that method, but these long hairs are very tough; I estimate they would be hard to shave. Moreover, I feel that if I shave off the long hairs today, when I transfigure and disappear tomorrow, I might get injured," Allen countered.
"May I touch the long hairs on your body?" Hermione suddenly proposed.
"Sure!" Allen agreed very readily.
"These long hairs are very strange. If I drip ink or something onto my hand, it cannot stick; the ink quickly flows down along the long hairs, completely unable to dye them. These long hairs seem to possess the ability to repel contamination..." Allen continued to add.
So Hermione sat down beside Allen and reached her hand into the collar of the clothes...
"Ouch, be careful! You are grabbing my beard right now; my beard is very long!" The clothes floating in mid-air suddenly trembled.

"Uh... sorry, I didn't mean to; I just accidentally touched it," Hermione said apologetically.
After touching for a while, Hermione seemed to think of something.
"I think what you transfigured today is not long hairs, but skin; the long hairs are just an addition, because I feel your skin seems different from ours,
smoother, and also a bit thicker," Hermione stated confidently.
"We all know the rules of Allen's transfiguration talent; he can only transfigure a certain organ or body part. Skin is not within that range, right!" Ron opposed Hermione's hypothesis.
After rolling her eyes at Ron, Hermione said: "According to Muggle science, skin is actually an organ, so Allen's transfiguration still fits the patterns we have summarized. What Allen transfigured today might be the skin of some magical creature capable of invisibility."
Allen thought Hermione was very right. "I think Hermione is correct. I am quite hot now; under normal circumstances, I would sweat a lot, yet now I have no sensation of sweating at all. I even feel that this creature's skin, for the sake of invisibility, lacks sweat glands used for secreting sweat."
"And I feel the long hairs on Allen have a familiar sensation," Hermione continued.
"I have that feeling too," Harry chimed in; he had also touched Allen's long hairs.
Suddenly, he and Hermione exchanged a glance and said in unison: "Invisibility Cloak!"
"Yes! My Invisibility Cloak feels exactly like this!" Harry said excitedly.
"Could it be that the Invisibility Cloak is woven from the long hairs of this kind of magical creature?" Hermione speculated somewhat uncertainly.
"Then do you know what magical creature it is?" Allen asked.
"No. In a moment, I will go to the library to check the records," Hermione decided briskly.
Then, looking at the transparent Allen, she suddenly leaned her head over, wanting to whisper something in Allen's ear. However, because Allen's head was transparent, she had no idea which direction Allen's face was facing. Also, due to the lack of a reference point, by the time she realized it, their two noses had already touched...
Hermione let out a muffled grunt, and her cheeks began to flush. Fortunately, neither Harry nor Ron knew what had happened.
"Harry, do you have a spare pair of glasses? More accurately, a pair of glasses frames without lenses; I think Allen needs one," Hermione began to change the subject.
"Ah? Yes, I will go find them in a moment. It is really strange talking to Allen without knowing where his eyes are!" Harry replied.
"Allen, have you experienced Hagrid's feeling too?" Ron on the opposite side made a joke, using his hands to mimic a face full of a large beard.
Everyone was amused by Ron's joke.
Hermione then resumed the unfinished whisper from before. However, this time she had learned a lesson from the Xiqule Sect; she first reached out, groped, and grabbed Allen's ear, then slowly brought her head close to Allen's ear and whispered softly:
"There is still a problem with your clothes today; you need to pay more attention..."
"What problem?" Allen asked in confusion.
Hermione said nothing; a mischievous smile appeared on her face. Allen noticed her eyes were glancing down along the collar...
Allen instantly understood Hermione's meaning. He also glanced down; through the collar, he could see the red underwear he was wearing today...
Other people's line of sight could see the color of his underwear today through his collar...
Even though Allen had thick skin, he couldn't help but feel his face flush red. Fortunately, no one else could see his expression...
This really was a problem. If he wore them, others could see the color; if he didn't wear them, others could easily discover he wasn't wearing anything...
Allen started to have a headache again. Should he find a large hat to wear?
