Chapter 169: Behind the Great Door
Allen waited with some nervousness, listening with full concentration; he was somewhat afraid of hearing something bad coming from behind the great door, but nothing happened.
About ten minutes passed, and the Blade Leopard walked out from behind the door; Allen saw nothing abnormal on it.
Allen quickly placed the diary on its head; a wisp of silver mist appeared from the Blade Leopard's head, then vanished into the diary...
After quite a while, the diary finally displayed text, saying that inside it was pitch black, nothing could be seen, but it seemed there was no danger.
"Can I go in and take a look? I mean, go into the Thought Chamber and see that memory," Allen said eagerly.
Then he was pulled into the Thought Chamber.
Inside the Thought Chamber, he saw the Blade Leopard's memory of exploring after entering the door; indeed it was pitch black, but he keenly noticed that the ground behind the door was very flat; the Blade Leopard's claws made a crisp sound as they walked on the ground; seeing the ground was metallic, the space inside was vast, and the Blade Leopard had to walk for quite a while inside before it touched the wall...
Allen's heart began to struggle again...
Should he go and investigate?
The Blade Leopard walked inside for so long without incident; it seemed the inside was not too dangerous.
Allen looked again at the plaques on both sides of the great door; the ancient magic runes written on them supported his judgment just now.
But later, the thought of wanting to enter gradually gained the upper hand.
However, for safety's sake, he again had Yoder's separated consciousness command the Blade Leopard to go in and circle for half an hour; still, nothing bad happened.
He finally made up his mind to enter the door and investigate.
He carefully walked into the great door, at the same time waving his wand to summon several orbs of light, but these orbs could not fly too far, so the illuminated space was still relatively limited.
He noticed that behind the door was a vast space; the walls behind the door and the back of the great door were both black; the light emitted by the orbs shone upon them, giving a feeling of being sucked in.
Allen grew suspicious: why use light-absorbing material for the walls of this space?
He thought for quite a while without result; finally, he decided to put this question aside for now and continue exploring; perhaps he would find the answer in a moment.
Allen summoned more orbs of light, which danced in the air; under the illumination of these orbs, the scene throughout the entire space gradually became visible.
This was a huge hall; the shape of the hall was a perfect circle, with a diameter of about one hundred meters; the walls of the hall were all of that light-absorbing material, but from the outlines on the walls, there were many doors leading to other places, yet all those great doors were tightly closed.
Most attracting attention was a huge cylinder in the center of the hall; the diameter of the cylinder's base was about ten meters long; about one-third of the base's structure was buried underground; on the base could be seen densely packed ancient magic runes and strange symbol marks; above it were carved strange patterns; these patterns were distributed neatly one by one, like nodes; each pattern was inlaid with peculiar gems.
On the base stood a cylinder with a diameter of five meters; the cylinder was about eight to ten meters high; the top of the cylinder connected directly to the ceiling of the hall; and the ceiling of the hall was covered with densely packed pipes, all of which connected to that cylinder...
The material of the cylinder seemed to be something like glass, filled inside with dark green liquid.
So Allen could only vaguely see some things inside the cylinder, but not very clearly.
At the center of the cylinder's surface, a black ring encircled it; on the black ring were also carved huge ancient magic runes.
Allen summoned more orbs of light to fly near the ring; he finally made out the ancient magic runes on it.
These ancient magic runes were huge and simple, but only one sentence was repeatedly carved on them.
Allen could recognize only half of them; that half meant "stagnation."
These ancient magic runes were combined in a way Allen had never seen before,
and even from quite a distance, he could feel that the combination of ancient magic runes on the ring possessed mysterious power.
And on the ground around the cylinder, one could see an equally complex and vast system of magic symbols, as well as several metal devices fixed to the ground and connected to the magic symbols, looking like control consoles.
This hall gave Allen a strange feeling; the design of the hall and the material of the cylinder seemed like things of a technological nature, but the base and the ancient magic runes and magic symbols on the ground clearly looked like things of a magical nature, yet these two styles were harmoniously fused together, giving a tremendous visual impact...
He looked at this peculiar cylinder, feeling it was some kind of instrument for cultivating living beings, and the dark green liquid was something like nutrient fluid; however, this ruin should also be several thousand, even tens of thousands of years old; even if there was something inside, it would have been dead long ago...
Allen involuntarily approached those control consoles; the material of the consoles was a peculiar metal, on which various buttons were neatly arranged, but he dared not touch the consoles at all; he still understood the principle that doing nothing avoids death.
He only tilted his head to carefully look at the huge cylinder, wanting to see clearly through the dark green liquid what was inside.
He summoned more orbs of light to fly around the cylinder, wanting to see more clearly.
Allen quickly found an object of observation; it was a spherical object the size of a watermelon; the material seemed to be some kind of stone, the surface pitted and uneven, floating faintly in and out of the dark green liquid...
He summoned more orbs of light to fly there, wanting to see the appearance of that stone clearly; as a result, he actually faintly felt that stone trembling slightly...
Just as he wanted to get closer, that stone suddenly cracked open...
Allen then realized it was an eye; the mottled exterior like stone was its eyelid...
What kind of eye was this? A golden eye, a golden pupil; within the pupil there was no emotion at all, different from all the eyes he had seen before.
And this eye was staring straight at Allen; Allen only felt that eye giving him an extremely dangerous, extremely majestic sensation; in an instant he was stunned, losing the ability to think, losing control over his body; he felt his body trembling; he wanted to flee, but could not move his legs at all; instead, he discovered he was stepping closer to that cylinder step by step...
At this moment, the combination of ancient magic runes on the black ring in the middle of the cylinder suddenly lit up...
That golden eye instantly vanished into the dark green liquid; the dark green liquid suddenly began to boil...
Allen then discovered he had regained control of his body; he wanted to turn and run, but in his heart he vaguely felt some unease; he felt he could not just leave like this; he needed to do something...
