Chapter 217: Phoenix-Eyed Blade Leopard

~7 min read 1,237 words

Allen was suddenly overcome with ecstatic joy; he knew he had succeeded, and his hypothesis was correct.

His innate Transfiguration was indeed an unconscious act of spellcasting, and the Basilisk was indeed a high-tier magical creature, capable of observing the ancient runic parameters generated during his innate Transfiguration.

Yodel also approached.

"You are exploring your innate Transfiguration?" He also examined this segment of the Basilisk's memory carefully. "Your idea is quite clever!"

"It seems you have succeeded!" Yodel said in a deep voice, completely unaware of Allen's plan until now.

"Yes, everything is proceeding smoothly; stop dwelling on what just happened. All of this is for the sake of designing a powerful Transfigured beast," Allen said.

"Hmm—" Yodel responded noncommittally; this segment of the Basilisk's memory made him understand why Allen had thrown him and the diary into the Poké Ball to suppress them.

Being very sensible, he stopped dwelling on the matter and quietly withdrew.

Meanwhile, Allen continuously magnified that patch of light within the memory, scrutinizing the ancient runic parameters upon it.

The quantity of ancient runic parameters on the light screen was enormous; Allen roughly estimated there were over a hundred thousand of them, but he did not care about these details, since in the end he was merely copying and pasting.

Moreover, memory was an excellent storage medium, capable of holding vast amounts of ancient runic parameters.

He carefully deciphered the meanings of the ancient runes above; many of them felt extremely unfamiliar to him, seen for the first time, and he could only understand the ancient runic parameters describing appearance and shape, while the rest were beyond his comprehension.

However, not understanding was fine; he had already confirmed through the portions describing shape and appearance that this was indeed describing a phoenix's eyes.

He immediately took action, skillfully extracting the ancient runic parameters describing the phoenix's eyes.

Then, he replaced the portion describing the eyes in the Blade Leopard's ancient runic parameters with these parameters.

Finally, he obtained a new set of ancient runic parameters for the Blade Leopard; theoretically, casting a Transfiguration Spell using these parameters should produce a Blade Leopard possessing phoenix eyes.

Allen quickly left the Mind Cottage; he could not wait to test it.

He extracted the memory carrying the Phoenix-Eyed Blade Leopard parameters from the diary, placed it within his mind, and then cast a Transfiguration Spell on a large rock in the tunnel.

That large rock twisted like modeling clay, then immediately reverted to its original form.

Allen stared dumbfounded at this scene; he did not know where the problem lay or why the expected result had not appeared.

Refusing to believe it, he cast the Transfiguration Spell several more times, but the result was always the same; after adding the phoenix eye parameters, he could not even Transfigure a Blade Leopard.

For a moment, Allen could not figure out where the problem lay.

Could the problem lie with these parameters? Could the parameters he had copied and pasted be incorrect?

Allen fell into doubt.

He quickly re-entered the Mind Cottage to carefully inspect these parameters, yet he found no issues whatsoever.

He was certain his line of thinking was correct; he had already designed several types of Transfigured beasts using this method of copying and pasting relevant parameters, and he could even freely Transfigure large quantities of the extremely rare Mithril, so logically, he should be able to Transfigure phoenix eyes as well!

Allen had not expected to get stuck right from the start.

For a moment, he felt somewhat at a loss.

Sitting on the bench inside the Mind Cottage, he suddenly became bewildered.

Gu Shen Yodel suddenly appeared at some unknown moment and gently sat down beside Allen.

"I saw your experiment just now; it seems it did not go very smoothly," Yodel said softly.

"Yes, I clearly considered every possible scenario; I do not understand why it still failed!" Allen grabbed his own hair, rubbing it continuously, until his hair quickly resembled a bird's nest.

"Did you really consider every possible scenario?" Yodel looked at Allen's state.

he said with a smile.

"Is there something I failed to consider?" Allen lowered his hand from his hair, looking at Yodel in bewilderment; suddenly, realization dawned on him. "Did you discover something I overlooked?" Allen asked urgently.

"Yes!" Yodel answered straightforwardly. "You were too impatient; you actually forgot such an obvious factor."

"What exactly did I forget? Tell me quickly, stop beating around the bush!" Allen grabbed hold of Yodel.

"Did you forget that Transfiguring parts of a magical creature via your innate ability requires consuming corresponding magical materials?" Yodel hurriedly said, knowing that Allen in this state was not someone to be trifled with.

Allen's eyes suddenly lit up; how could he have forgotten that!

He hurriedly left the Mind Cottage once more, leaving only the word "Thank you" echoing continuously within the Mind Cottage...

Allen quickly found a phoenix feather, but then he paused:

How should one consume the phoenix feather when casting a spell?

How could the act of consuming the phoenix feather be linked to spellcasting?

This seemed slightly different from his innate Transfiguration; during innate Transfiguration, he was both the caster and the target of the spell, whereas the situation when casting a Transfiguration Spell was not quite the same.

After much deliberation, he decided to press the phoenix feather against his wand, hold it in his right hand, and give it a try first.

He quickly used this method to cast a Transfiguration Spell on a rock; halfway through chanting the incantation, he noticed the phoenix feather in his hand becoming scorching hot, and the next moment, it vanished into thin air...

The phoenix feather vanishing into thin air did not affect Allen's spellcasting; he steadily completed the remaining wand movements and incantation.

That rock instantly Transfigured into a Blade Leopard, but strangely, this Blade Leopard possessed a pair of golden eyes, which stood out vividly in the dim underground tunnel...

Allen knew he had succeeded; he had truly enabled a Transfigured beast to possess organs of a magical creature.

He felt a new world opening its gates to him.

However, he soon furrowed his brow: under his exploration, the Transfiguration Spell was increasingly resembling D&D magic; having to memorize spells before casting was one thing, but now it even required consuming spell components!

Thinking about the issue of spell components, Allen began to feel a headache again; this newly discovered application indeed seemed powerful, but the money spent was equally staggering!

The price of a single phoenix feather was ten Jin Jin Jialong; the Transfigured beasts he was currently designing possessed only one type of magical creature organ, but if they had multiple types of organs from various magical creatures, a single spell casting would consume magical materials worth dozens of Jin Jin Jialong!

Although he currently possessed some assets, he could not withstand such expenditure!

Moreover, he still needed to test this new application.

And testing would require him to first consume magical materials to innately Transfigure corresponding magical creature organs and parts, then consume materials to Transfigure beasts possessing those magical creature organs or parts, and furthermore test the effects of combining multiple types of magical creature organs or parts together...

There was simply no telling how many Jin Jin Jialong this would consume!
