Chapter 22: Strange Eyes
It was a new day again.
Although he had been dragged out of bed in the middle of the night, Allen slept very well, perhaps thanks to Professor Snape's potion.
The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was his own hand holding the wand; it seemed his blind box had been a success. Let's see what he opens today! Allen thought with great calm.
He quickly sensed something was wrong; things seemed unusually clear today. Why had he randomly received the organ of eyes again? According to Professor Dumbledore's hypothesis, shouldn't the transfiguration effect have strengthened? Last time the wand talent transfigured a pair of wings; why was it just an eye this time?
Allen had randomly received eyes so many times before that he was no longer surprised by it.
He felt somewhat disappointed in his heart; it seemed Dumbledore's estimate was wrong, and he still hadn't found the true cause of Allen's mutation.
Fortunately, today's eye was not colorblind, and it seemed very sharp and clear in vision.
He slowly put on his clothes and walked to the mirror in the dormitory to observe his new eyes for today.
The new eyes shocked Allen greatly; he had never seen eyes like this before—the pupils were black and vertical, while the rest of the eyeballs were a brilliant gold.
He quickly searched his knowledge reserve and found no animal had eyes like this.
The only thing that came to mind was the owl; although some breeds had golden whites, the color was absolutely not as bright as his current eyes, and owl pupils were round while his were vertical. Furthermore, owl eyes were cylindrical and could not move, whereas his could rotate flexibly.
Allen struggled to search within his mind; could it be the eyes of some kind of snake?
There were many mutated snake breeds, perhaps one existed like this, but Allen quickly dismissed the idea. Snakes' most sensitive sense was smell perception, and their vision was generally poor; his eyes seemed to have exceptionally good vision.
Thinking this, Allen walked quickly to the dormitory window, opened it, and gazed into the distance.
The vision of these eyes was frighteningly good; he could clearly see Hagrid's hut beside the Forbidden Forest. Emmmm, it seemed he saw Hagrid writing a letter. He had just written the first line. Looking more closely, the first line seemed to read "Dear Harry".
Allen's heart suddenly jumped. What animal's eyes were this powerful? The distance to Hagrid's hut was several kilometers! Could his golden finger finally have arrived? Did it come with an eight-times scope?
Moreover, these eyes were very clear when looking at nearby objects, the perception of color was very sharp, and it seemed they could distinguish more colors than human eyes.
Allen looked at his own eyes in the mirror and fell silent. Could it be that his eyes were enhanced by magical power to be like this?
That seemed to make sense.
Allen thought for a long time but still found nothing new.
At this moment, Harry and Ron called him to go down and eat together.
Forget it, no more thinking; eating is the priority!
At the dining table, Harry and Ron were still talking quietly and excitedly about yesterday's adventure, while constantly guessing what the three-headed dog was guarding.
Allen had no interest in that topic and did not join in; instead, he flipped through a book nearby to do his preview.
When the owls swarmed into the Great Hall as usual, everyone's attention was drawn to a long package carried by six screech owls.
The trio of Harry was also attracted; unexpectedly, several owls circled down, threw the package onto the table in front of Harry, and also knocked over Allen's pumpkin juice. Unprepared, Allen was drenched in pumpkin juice on his leg.
Allen had to draw his wand and cast a spell on his robes: "Scourgify!"
All stains vanished instantly, but Allen clearly felt something extraordinary about this cast a spell.
He clearly saw that when he chanted and focused his attention,
his wand was surrounded by a ring of light, forming a cylinder. During his chanting, various characters flashed on the light screen and stitched together into regular text. At the moment his spell was completed, the light screen turned into countless light waves and disappeared into the air, and then the spell took effect...
Allen rubbed his eyes hard. "Could I be seeing things?" he muttered quietly.
Then he aimed at the pumpkin juice-covered table and cast a spell again: "Scourgify!"
While chanting, Allen opened his eyes wide and stared tightly at his wand. Sure enough, the light screen appeared again; the runes on it swam like little tadpoles, finally forming a string of regular text, and then disappeared into the air.
Allen's heart suddenly beat violently. He felt he could see something extraordinary, but he wanted to confirm it once more.
He cast several more cleaning spells on the dirty spot on the table, and sure enough, the light screen appeared again and again.
His abnormal behavior caught Neville's attention. Neville asked in confusion: "Allen, what are you doing? It's already clean; why are you still casting spells non-stop?"
Allen suddenly turned to Neville and asked in an urgent tone: "Neville, can you see a layer of light screen on my wand when I just cast the spell?"
"No? Cleaning spells don't produce light when released?" Neville was a bit puzzled.
"Then I'll cast a cleaning spell again; take a close look!" Allen controlled his excited mood and used the cleaning spell again.
"Did you see it? Did you see it?" Allen looked at Neville with expectation and worry.
Neville reached out and touched Allen's forehead: "Are you sick today? There's clearly nothing there!"
Only then did Allen confirm that he had gained some extraordinary ability. He said to Neville a bit panicked: "Nothing, maybe it's because I didn't sleep well yesterday."
At this moment, Harry excitedly leaned over, handed him a parchment letter, and whispered to him: "Look quickly!"
Allen read it quickly and said in surprise: "How did you..."
Before he could finish, Harry covered his mouth. "Shh... don't make a scene; let's go back to the dormitory to open it!"
Ron also eagerly leaned over and whispered to Allen: "It's the latest model, the Nimbus 2000!"
"How can you afford it... no... I mean, first-years aren't allowed to bring broomsticks, right?" Allen also lowered his voice.
"Harry is now the youngest Seeker in the Gryffindor Quidditch team!" Ron was a bit excited. "No... the youngest Seeker in the history of Hogwarts!"
"When did this happen? How did I not know?" Allen asked quietly.
"It happened yesterday; I didn't have time to tell you. Let's hurry back; I can't wait!" Harry urged the two quietly.
But Allen calmed down and apologized to Harry and Ron: "You go back and open it; I have an urgent matter to attend to here."
Having said that, he hurriedly walked out of the hall.
Leaving the two staring at each other in confusion.
