Chapter 236: The Flower Bud on the Back
The black dog climbed up, looked at his reflection in the stream, and let out a low howl, as if mocking himself with a laugh.
In the water was a skeletal black dog, its frame shape extremely clear, black fur matted into hard clumps—just the look of a stray.
At that moment, hunger began to stir in his belly again; he hadn't eaten much for a day. Being hammered by that black-and-white bear just now was also related to his extreme hunger. He thought resentfully that he had never lost a fight at Hogwarts.
Perhaps he could return to Diagon Alley and rummage through trash cans...
He quickly dismissed this idea. He must be cautious now; he could not appear again in the wizarding settlement.
The big dog approached the stream and drank a few mouthfuls. The icy water made his stomach cramp; he felt even hungrier. His eyes constantly scanned the stream, hoping to see small fish or shrimp pass by, but he failed without a doubt.
Originally, he had a chance today to sneak into the Hogwarts kitchen and eat his fill. Portraits wouldn't care about him; he was just some young wizard's pet, or perhaps a playmate Hagrid found for his own dog.
But today's opportunity was too good! He sighed again, and annoyance began to rise in his heart. It was all that black-and-white bear's fault! Everything was ruined.
The big dog drove various food fantasies from his mind, perked up, and walked in one direction. He wanted to find a place to spend the night; the Forbidden Forest was no safe place. He had to choose his overnight spot carefully.
After walking a while, he discovered a tattered car. Although he didn't know how a car ended up deep in the Forbidden Forest, he felt his luck turning. He prepared to crawl inside and sleep for the night. The car body was fairly sturdy, a good shelter. Even if broken, it was far better than the damp ground; at least the seats inside looked decent.
But as soon as he approached, the thing suddenly switched on its headlights, nearly blinding his dog eyes. Immediately after, the car charged at him, forcing him to flee in a panic.
Mainly, he feared the Aurors of the Ministry of Magic would notice the light and commotion here and come directly to investigate, putting him in danger. So he had to stay far away from that noisy car.
He ran through the Forbidden Forest for another half hour. This time, his good fortune finally arrived—he unexpectedly discovered a mouse hole.
Several months of wild life had made him very familiar with mouse holes and also very skilled at dogs catching mice.
In a short while, the entire family of mice went neatly into the big dog's belly. After a hearty meal, he felt his body regain some strength; at least he could last two more days.
Recalling the "crunch, crunch" sound mouse bones made in his mouth just now, he thought that if he caught that despicable rat tonight, that rat would make the same sound in his mouth.
Pfft—I won't chew that disgusting rat, even though it would be satisfying. The big dog shook his head and drove this thought from his mind.
He continued searching and soon found a narrow cave; this would be his shelter for the night.
Lying on the ground, he began to think. The big dog's form prevented meticulous thought, and he didn't want to ponder anything too complex. He simply recalled those familiar faces; he had gotten through countless difficult nights this way.
He didn't know how long passed before he thought of that ginger cat. That cat was too clever; through it, he learned much news about Hogwarts. But he wondered if this lead might also be cut off.
The black big dog finally fell asleep, but only a few hours later he woke again. It was the darkest hour of the early morning. He decided to go to a Muggle town; there would be no Aurors or Dementors from the Ministry of Magic. He could sneak into Muggle houses to find something to eat.
He had been hammered by that black-and-white bear yesterday; the injuries were actually not light. That litter of mice was not enough for him to recover his body.
He needed more energy and nutrition.
White soft bread, fresh and tasty vegetables, and of course, meat could not be missing.
The big dog felt his saliva secreting wildly.
He ran leisurely; this was the most energy-saving method. The Muggle town was not too far; he could reach it before dawn.
The sky began to lighten. The big dog quietly slipped into a red-painted house on the edge of the town; he liked this color.
The black big dog twitched his nose repeatedly, turned, and ran into the kitchen. He carried away a large piece of ribs from the kitchen.
Carrying the meat, he walked out of the town. His mood became cheerful. He let out a joyful howl. Dogs in the town howled in response, and lights turned on in a few households.
He quickly ran away with his tail between his legs...
In the faint morning light, the black big dog stood on a large rock, gazing far away at Hogwarts Castle—his expression remained so determined...
At the same time, Allen in Hogwarts Castle also woke up. He buried his head in the soft pillow, unwilling to open his eyes for a long time; he had stayed up late again yesterday.
If he stayed up late like this, he began to worry about his hairline.
Then he felt something was wrong. He felt a cool sensation on his back, and a sense of burden, but clearly not the feeling of wings. He knew this was the result of his innate transformation today. Fortunately, the burden on his back was not too heavy.
He reached out and touched it. The sensation upon contact immediately woke him up. The touch was very strange; it was relatively rough and lacked warmth, like touching the skin of a plant. Moreover, from the contours he felt, this object was quite large; at least its diameter was slightly longer than the width of his back.
Allen couldn't figure out what this thing was for a moment. Yesterday's innate transformation was relatively normal, just the ears of an ordinary animal. What bizarre thing had he randomly gotten today?
However, Allen, with his big heart, quickly calmed down. He knew he would have to face all this sooner or later.
He slowly turned his head, and then he could no longer remain calm—he saw a huge green flower bud growing on his back...
It shouldn't be called a flower bud; it should be called a bulb-like seed. The shape of this seed immediately made Allen realize what was on his back.
It was the seed carried on the back of Bulbasaur. No wonder it was so light, no wonder it felt cool, no wonder it was so huge...
The feeling of a plant growing inside the body is so awkward!
