Chapter 248

~6 min read 1,159 words

Recently, Hermione and Ron's relationship had deteriorated further because Hermione's cat, Crookshanks, always showed unusual interest in Ron's pet, Scabbers.

However, this was also a very normal thing; as an active and lively kitten, Crookshanks being interested in mice was perfectly normal.

Scabbers' condition had also worsened recently; he had become ancient and decrepit, eating very little each day and then staying in one place motionless all day long.

Ron was very worried about the mouse that had accompanied him for many years; he tried his best to care for Scabbers, even using his meager allowance to buy things mice loved and some rat tonics, but Scabbers showed not a shred of interest in these things, remaining in that same lifeless state.

Precisely because of this, Ron was so angry; he believed Crookshanks had frightened Scabbers, causing Scabbers to be so listless.

And Hermione supported her cat, not believing Crookshanks caused Scabbers' current state; she thought Scabbers was simply too old.

Neither of the two could convince the other, so their relationship became very poor.

Regarding this, neither Harry nor Allen had any good solution.

Just as Allen thought this peaceful life would continue until the end of the term, an event broke the peaceful yet busy life.

One noon, Allen went to the Great Hall to eat but discovered a crowd of people in the castle courtyard; this crowd consisted of adult wizards, and several of them, with their capable and cold demeanor, were clearly Aurors.

Professor Dumbledore was also receiving this group; he was conversing with the lead wizard.

The lead wizard was short and stout, with hair groomed to a high shine.

He wore a pinstriped suit, a purple tie, a black long cloak, brown pointed boots, and held a purple top hat in his hand.

Allen recognized this person; this person often appeared in newspapers; he was the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge.

He did not know why the Minister for Magic had suddenly come to Hogwarts, but he was not interested in it either; he just glanced twice more before walking past them, as he was very hungry now and could not attend to these matters.

As Allen walked past, the entire group suddenly stopped; Minister Fudge also ceased his conversation, and they all stared silently at Allen...

Today, Allen had randomly received a dragon's tail; the tip of the tail was constantly burning with a flame, but Allen had no intention of concealing it, mainly because he could not conceal it; this constantly burning tail tip could not be stuffed into his trousers.

Mainly, the students and teachers of Hogwarts had long grown accustomed to the strange and bizarre things Allen had randomly received recently; although some things exceeded imagination, with the endorsement of the famous magizoologist Mr. Scamander, panic had not yet arisen among everyone.

But these new visitors to Hogwarts had never seen such a scene; they stared intently at Allen one by one, and Allen even noticed that several Aurors had quietly slipped their hands into their robes, gripping their wands.

"Allen, come here." Professor Dumbledore called out to stop Allen.

Allen helplessly turned around and walked over. "Headmaster, what do you need?"

"Minister Fudge is visiting Hogwarts today; he just said he very much wanted to see you, so he asked you to come over and greet the Minister." Professor Dumbledore gently winked at Allen.

"Minister, hello! It is an honor to meet you." Allen said very politely; he had absolutely no interest in such socializing, and the Ministry of Magic was currently his largest creditor.

Fudge patted Allen's shoulder and reached out to stroke his head, saying happily, "Mr. Finis, very pleased to meet you."

Allen frowned inwardly; he grew increasingly annoyed with Fudge, especially Fudge's act of stroking his head; he hated it most when others touched his head, especially when the person touching his head was a bald old man.

Allen slipped away without showing emotion and said politely, "I wish you a pleasant day at Hogwarts; I will go eat lunch first."

He politely prepared to take his leave.

But Fudge had no intention of letting Allen go; he grabbed Allen's shoulder. "Haha, I happen to be a bit hungry myself; I wonder if Allen would be interested in sharing dinner with me?"

Allen's first move upon being grabbed was to move his burning tail tip away from Fudge to avoid burning his suit, which looked very expensive at a glance; then he became somewhat at a loss, not knowing what medicine Fudge had taken wrong, why he had suddenly taken an interest in him.

This was not Allen's first time meeting Fudge; during the summer vacation, Fudge went to the Leaky Cauldron to visit Harry; Allen had crossed paths with him a few times; at that time, Fudge directly ignored him; Allen still remembered the very obvious disgust on Fudge's face when he saw Allen's transformed part.

Allen knew Fudge did not like him.

Allen did not know why Fudge was so enthusiastic toward him today.

For a moment, he did not know how to refuse Fudge's invitation, so he began to hesitate.

At this moment, a female voice came over. "The Minister's invitation is very rare; Allen, you must seize the opportunity!"

Allen then noticed that behind Fudge stood an exquisite middle-aged woman; her gaze, through a pair of glasses inlaid with jewels, was scrutinizing him with a look of examination.

This was the first time Allen had met such a witch.

"Stop staring; answer quickly; after the meal, I still need to conduct an exclusive interview with you!" Her fat, thick fingers, painted with bright red nail polish, grabbed Allen's arm. "By the way, my name is Rita Skeeter, a special correspondent for the Daily Prophet."

Allen was now truly somewhat bewildered; he tried to break free, but Rita Skeeter's fat, thick fingers were very strong; he could not break free; he looked to Professor Dumbledore for help, but Professor Dumbledore was admiring a suit of armor, seemingly not noticing the situation over here.

"I have always been very interested in you; I have wanted to interview you for a long time." Rita Skeeter said excitedly; her hair was styled into exquisite, stiff, bizarre large curls, which, paired with her large-chinned face, looked particularly awkward.

"Uh—I have classes this afternoon..." Allen said dryly.

"What classes? You are going to be famous; although you were already quite famous, after today you will be even more famous; wizards from various countries will know you after today; you must seize this rare opportunity yourself; do not let down the Minister's cultivation of you, and do not let down everyone's goodwill." Rita Skeeter flashed a smile that was obviously self-satisfied as charming and spoke rapidly.

Looking at the show of force today, Allen knew they had come prepared; it seemed escaping was impossible...
