Chapter 265

~6 min read 1,051 words

Snape was hanging upside down in midair, with no point of contact, and for a moment he couldn’t break free.

He hung suspended in the air, swaying gently...

This scene felt so familiar! When had he last been hung upside down? Snape thought silently to himself, and his long-buried memories suddenly unlocked...

He recalled the scene from his fifth year...

His eyes peered through the gaps in his robe at his surroundings; the inversion had caused his brain to swell with blood, blurring his vision, and the scene before him gradually merged with that of his fifth year...

The two men were Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, though they had aged considerably since then...

The tall, thin boy was James Potter...

The red-haired boy beside him must be Peter Pettigrew, though this boy was much taller than Peter Pettigrew had been...

But it seemed one person was missing...

Snape’s mind was moving slowly...

At that moment, Harry and Ron saw that the metamorph beast had subdued Snape, and quickly cast “Finite Incantatem” to lift Hermione’s Stunning Spell.

Hermione woke up to see Snape hanging upside down in midair and immediately cried out: “How could you... You must lower him at once!”

Harry and Ron exchanged a helpless glance—after all, the metamorph beast was under Hermione’s control...

And Hermione’s voice made Snape feel as though the scene before him had fully merged with that of his fifth year...

Yes! There was also her—Lily Evans...

She had said exactly the same thing back then...

He wanted to turn and look again into those emerald eyes, but he couldn’t turn his head; from this angle, he couldn’t see where the voice had come from.

Snape stopped struggling. Suddenly, he felt moisture gathering in his eyes, threatening to breach his defenses. He instinctively tried to suppress it, but it was too late—two tears welled from his corners and trickled into his hair...

How long had it been since he last cried? Snape thought silently to himself...

It had been twelve years...

The moment those emerald eyes closed forever and would never open again...

Snape was lost in grief, but the swaying of his body in midair brought him back to himself slightly...

What would happen next?

James Potter would sneer with arrogance: “Who wants to see me take off the Potions Master’s underpants?”

Snape still remembered the helplessness, resentment, and fury he had felt back then...

That fifth-year scene had tormented him ever since—it was his most painful memory, the moment he had lost Lily forever, watching helplessly as she walked away with Potter...

Anger flooded Snape’s heart all at once; his entire body burned with rage. He was usually calm and restrained, but this surge of fury was utterly beyond his control...

Back then in fifth year, he had been powerless, subjected to endless humiliation—but now he would not allow this scene to replay!

In an instant, he made his decision, reached for his waist, and easily grasped a cold vial. He held it in his hand, uncorked it, and poured the milky-yellow liquid straight into his mouth...

Only a short time had passed since Snape had been hung upside down; Black and Lupin were still bound by his magic, while Harry and the others were preparing to discuss how to handle Snape, since he was a school professor.

They noticed Snape drinking the potion, but none of them reacted immediately...

The first to sense danger was Hermione’s metamorph beast—it immediately unleashed a bolt of lightning at Professor Snape. The lightning struck him cleanly, but Snape showed no reaction at all...

He clutched his head in agony, and a layer of white electric arcs began to crawl over his body...

The electric arcs on Professor Snape’s body traveled straight down the vine-like bindings around his ankles and struck the metamorph beast...

The metamorph beast shrieked and retracted the vines.

But Snape did not fall. He hovered in midair, electric arcs continuously surging over his body, his hair standing rigidly on end—but the electricity harmed him not at all...

Everyone present stared, bewildered, at Snape in this state, unsure what to do—no one had ever recorded such a transformation in magical history.

And now, the Snape enveloped in lightning underwent further changes:

The ears he had been covering changed—he grew long, rabbit-like ears, but with sharp tips; most of them were milky yellow, with only the tips stained brown...

Two bright red circular marks suddenly appeared on his cheeks, each the size of an orange, looking strangely out of place...

A yellow, lightning-shaped tail abruptly sprouted from his rear, standing stiffly exposed in the air...

And Professor Snape, who had caused all these changes, kept his eyes tightly shut...

Everyone present was stunned—even Professor Lupin, with his vast knowledge, and Black, from his ancient lineage—neither could recall any such phenomenon in magical history.

“Professor... he... transformed?” Ron said hoarsely. “Like Allen?”

“But why would Allen’s powers appear on Professor Snape?” Hermione said in shock.

Hermione’s metamorph beast watched Snape with wary eyes, its wings fluttering nervously...

In fact, Harry and the others were all too familiar with these three new features—ever since Allen became an Animagus, his random transformations had occasionally produced these exact parts.

Especially those bright red circular marks on the cheeks—Hermione’s metamorph beast still bore identical marks on its own face.

They didn’t know whether this was good or bad, but they didn’t need to ponder it anymore...

At that moment, Professor Snape’s transformation completed. The electric arcs vanished instantly. He snapped open his eyes—his irises had turned blood-red, filled with boundless fury and madness...

An aura of extreme danger radiated from him...

He locked his gaze on Black, Lupin, and Harry—his eyes seemed ready to devour them whole...

Harry felt his entire body go numb. Goosebumps rose on his skin. Cold sweat drenched his back. He felt as though a dangerous beast had pinned him with its stare...

He gripped his wand tightly, pointing it straight at the transformed Snape—but this gesture gave him no sense of safety whatsoever...

Behind him, Black and Lupin strained desperately to break free of the magical bonds.

And then, the two bright red circular marks on Professor Snape’s cheeks began to flicker with tiny electric arcs—next instant, his entire body was engulfed in brilliant lightning.
