Chapter 110: Entering the Base

Su Xi followed Gu Yue onto the lift to enter the underground.

Midway, the lift paused for a minute; a scanner swept over them before it continued downward.

"What is the highest rank of psionic among you in this base?" After asking, Su Xi added, "I'm just asking; if it involves classified information, consider it unsaid."

"Of course you can ask, this isn't a secret," Gu Yue said with some pride. "Our commander is an S-rank psionic!"

Su Xi's eyes were full of surprise.

"If you join our base, you might even get to see him," Gu Yue immediately felt the urge to recruit her again.

Su Xi paused and asked, "If I join, would you get some kind of benefit?"

Gu Yue: "I won't hide it from you, I do get some benefits. The more valuable the new blood I recruit, the more rewards I receive."

The lift stopped.

Gu Yue walked ahead, "We've arrived inside our base. I'll take you to the Property Management Department to hand in the core crystals first."

"Alright," Su Xi looked around; it looked like an underground fortress.

Generally, the better the quality of the core crystal, the heavier its weight.

Gu Yue looked at Su Xi in surprise; along the way, she had carried these core crystals with great ease, as if they were weightless.

"Is your psionic power related to strength?"

"No," Su Xi replied. "You saw when I killed the thousand-legged worm; I am a Thunder System psionic."

Gu Yue smacked his own mouth, "I meant, is there perhaps an added boost in terms of strength?"

Su Xi replied, "Maybe, I'm not too sure about that myself."

"Thunder System is quite rare," the property manager handed a receipt to Gu Yue. "The Finance Department seems to have gone to a meeting; if there's no one there, you should wait."

"Alright, thank you, Jing," Gu Yue took the receipt.

Just as they were about to leave, many footsteps approached from that direction.

Su Xi looked over; several security personnel were escorting a woman with sharp, professional attire and a beautiful appearance.

She said to the property manager, "I've come to retrieve what the commander requested."

"It is already prepared," the property manager respectfully handed a black box to the woman.

Gu Yue waited until the woman had left with the black box before asking the property manager, "Jing, what did the commander want?"

"I don't know what's in that box either; the commander stored it here a long time ago. Is your habit of being a busybody acting up again?"

"No, no, then we'll be heading off."

"Go on," the property manager went back to being busy with her work.

Gu Yue took Su Xi and walked toward the Finance Department, saying to her on the way, "That woman is one of the commander's special assistants, Xiao Rou. There are rumors that she is also the commander's lover."

"Oh," Su Xi was not very interested in this.

However, that black box made Er Miao very curious. There was a layer of energy wrapped around the outside of the box, and that energy was the same as the energy shield outside this base, blocking her scan.
