Chapter 45
The city night was filled with traffic, though not quite a constant stream.
Vehicles were rare in this era, and the roaring sounds had also died down.
People were going in and out of the old-fashioned cinema watching "Shaolin Temple."
"This era is still leisurely; it's very relaxing." Feng Yuxiu grinned.
However, it wasn't many years different from his own era.
But deep down, he always felt a sense of restlessness.
This feeling might be because the progress of the era had left individual thoughts far behind.
"Help! Someone is robbing me!"
This sudden shout made the three people sitting in the car turn their heads.
Feng Yuxiu felt a bit dazed, as if this world were unreal.
His own era was filled with surveillance cameras everywhere.
In this era, it seemed that robberies were a frequent occurrence.
"Yo-ho, Squad Leader, you rest, I'll go chase this kid!"
Wu Liuyi was instantly interested; he jumped out of the car and took off running in pursuit.
Shi Jin frowned, "Sanduo, you're injured, it's not convenient, stay here, I'll go take a look."
——
"Run, kid, you run pretty fast!"
Wu Liuyi had a smile on his lips as he stared at the man he had blocked at the alley entrance.
The man was wearing jeans, a plaid long-sleeved shirt, and had thick, black hair with long bangs that covered one eye.
His right hand gripped the stolen bag, while his left hand held a gleaming dagger horizontally.
"This knife doesn't have eyes; if I throw this stuff down, can we pretend we never saw each other?"
Wu Liuyi smiled, his gaze looking leisurely at the man before him, "Kid, you aren't getting out today; put the stuff down and come with me."
The man's expression turned ugly, and suddenly, as if he had heard something, he revealed a smile, "That might not be certain. I can rob people on the street—do you think I came without any preparation? I'd trouble you to turn around and look."
Wu Liuyi leaned against the wall and turned his head slightly, his expression instantly turning solemn.
Eight people holding wooden sticks emerged from the alley behind him.
"I'll say it again: let's pretend we never saw each other. I'll put this stuff down for you, and you can consider it a job done when you go back."
The man sensibly put down the items in his hand and slowly walked past Wu Liuyi.
Wu Liuyi smiled and stepped onto the opposite wall.
"Then don't blame us. Brothers, let's spar a bit."
Wu Liuyi instantly lunged out, his eyes fixed only on the man who had committed the robbery.
The man was so scared he trembled all over; he switched the dagger to his right hand and waved it frantically, his face ferocious as he growled, "I'm not easy to bully either."
Wu Liuyi seized the moment and instantly kicked at the man's arm.
With the force of the blow, the man's arm instantly dislocated, and his body was slammed heavily against the wall.
But in that split second, the eight people behind him swung their wooden sticks over.
Wu Liuyi covered his head and vital areas, delivering a diagonal kick to the chin of the one closest to him.
Instantly, the man's eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
But he was only one person, and he was continuously struck by the sticks of the eight people.
Just as he was about to be struck in the head, a muffled grunt sounded from behind.
Shi Jin had finally arrived.
"Wu Liuyi, are you alright?" Shi Jin performed a shoulder throw, slamming one to the ground, and began kicking away those who were on top of Wu Liuyi.
"I'm fine, let's take care of this bunch of little bastards! These little bastards hit hard, Squad Leader, be careful!"
Wu Liuyi found an opening to stand up; his face was bruised, and his arm was dislocated from a stick strike.
People in this era had no so-called sense of awe.
Therefore, their actions were often dictated by hot-bloodedness.
They didn't know what fear was, nor did they know the shocking consequences this matter would produce.
But this wasn't a movie.
After all, there were only two of them.
Although one on the other side had fainted, eight people remained.
Wu Liuyi and Shi Jin stood back-to-back, both of them bruised.
"Squad Leader, leave first, there are too many people, and the alley entrance is too narrow—we can't get away."
Shi Jin said in a deep voice, "I'm afraid we won't be getting out of here easily today."
Wu Liuyi's body tightened, and he sneered in a deep voice, "I don't believe they really have the guts to kill."
"Charge out!" Wu Liuyi and Shi Jin instantly turned around, charging toward the alley entrance with wide, sweeping movements.
There was no such thing as sub-health in this era; these thugs weren't so fragile either.
They didn't make a sound even after taking three punches and two kicks, but the ferocity in their eyes grew increasingly intense.
They had been beaten into a rage.
"Squad Leader, you get out first, go find someone, these bastards!"
Wu Liuyi wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.
No one noticed that a person was standing abruptly in the shadows of the alley entrance.
Feng Yuxiu frowned as he watched Shi Jin and Wu Liuyi surrounded by the crowd.
This wasn't a game of playing house.
Nor was it a friendly spar.
This was life-or-death.
A life-or-death fight.
But in the blink of an eye, Feng Yuxiu understood.
They hadn't experienced this kind of sudden situation.
If he had wanted to, Wu Liuyi could have smashed the robber's neck at the very beginning.
But now they were completely surrounded, and the rationality in these people's eyes was slowly beginning to fade.
It wouldn't be strange if they lost their minds and did anything next.
Feng Yuxiu suddenly saw a gleaming dagger tucked into the waist of the last thug; he licked his lips, revealed a smile, bent down to pick up a rusted piece of iron, and walked in slowly.
"All of you, back off! Do you know what you're surrounding right now?"
"Robbery is different in nature from what you're about to do!"
"It's not too late to stop now!"
Shi Jin pointed at the crowd that had lost its rationality and shouted sternly.
"Screw your mother, you dare hit me? Don't you want to show off? Today I'll let you see what it's like to choke on the wind!"
"Beat them, beat them until they're crippled!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the group charged up like madmen.
"Let's fight back? If we don't fight back, both of us will be left here!" A fierce look appeared in Wu Liuyi's eyes.
Shi Jin shook his head, "No, the nature of this matter hasn't reached that point yet. Unless they use lethal weapons, we cannot use lethal means to fight back. Follow me and charge out in a moment! We'll talk after we get out!"
Wu Liuyi gritted his teeth, "Fine, charge out!"
The two of them continuously opened gaps with punches and kicks.
Aman was struck in the neck by a punch and fell backward onto the ground.
His eyes went completely insane, and he randomly pulled a dagger from his waist and gripped it.
"Screw your mother, I'll kill you!"
Taking advantage of the chaos, he thrust the dagger in his right hand toward Shi Jin's chest.
Shi Jin's line of sight was blocked by people on his left and right.
If this knife went in, he would definitely be stabbed through the heart.
"Squad Leader, be careful, they're using lethal weapons!" Wu Liuyi shouted in terror and charged toward the thug holding the knife.
Shi Jin's pupils constricted, and he swung his right fist toward the neck of the knife-wielding thug.
He had to hammer him to death, otherwise, he would be the one to die.
But at such a close distance, the opponent had struck first, and it was too late to counterattack now.
Wu Liuyi's gaze suddenly caught Feng Yuxiu hiding behind the thug.
"Sanduo, kill him!"
Puchi!
Feng Yuxiu slashed horizontally with his right hand, slicing the neck of the thug who was holding the dagger and thrusting toward Shi Jin's chest.
Steaming blood sprayed in all directions, and this blood splashed onto everyone's heads and faces.
They instantly reacted from their previous madness.
Shi Jin and Wu Liuyi looked over.
"Squad Leader, are you alright?" Wu Liuyi asked hurriedly.
Shi Jin had survived a disaster, "I'm fine, Sanduo did well!"
Wu Liuyi also nodded toward Feng Yuxiu.
The opponent had already used a lethal weapon, so killing him in return was reasonable and there were no problems at all.
Clang!
The dagger in the man's hand fell crisply to the ground.
He clutched his neck in disbelief, making gurgling sounds in his throat as he fell.
Behind him stood a person with an expressionless face.
Feng Yuxiu threw the piece of iron in his hand to the ground.
He bent down, picked up the dagger, held it horizontally in his hand, and looked coldly at the group of people.
