Chapter 52: Out-of-Syllabus Assessment Questions
The technical assessment was on the playground.
A table was set up in the observation room, with a sign on it that read: Technical Assessment in four large characters.
The regimental assessment staff sat behind it, calling out the list one by one.
Bai Tiejun poked his head out to take a look, and his face turned white.
"Why is this assessment so cautious? Even the regimental staff are here."
Gan Xiaoning held his book with a furrowed brow, quietly consolidating his memory.
Shi Jin saw this scene, stood up, walked to Gao Cheng's side, and asked in a low voice, "Company Commander, what's the situation? Why are the regimental staff here, and there seem to be a few unfamiliar faces too."
Gao Cheng knew what was going on inside, but he couldn't say, yet he couldn't just say nothing either.
"Shi Jin, is anyone in your Third Squad going to drop the ball this time?"
Shi Jin didn't understand why the Company Commander was changing the subject. He thought carefully. "There shouldn't be any problems. It's just that Xu Sanduo just arrived not long ago, and he's not very familiar with those military data."
Gao Cheng rubbed his chin. "Not very familiar..."
So he looked for Feng Yuxiu's figure in the crowd.
Among the many soldiers with lowered heads and heavy faces reviewing, he found Feng Yuxiu, who was resting with his eyes closed.
No expression of panic could be seen on his face.
"This soldier never puts on airs, he is what he is. Looking at him, he should be no pro... Is that Bai Tiejun? What is he doing?" Gao Cheng's second half of the sentence became angry.
Shi Jin's face changed. "I'll go call him!"
Just as he stepped out, he saw Feng Yuxiu open his eyes and smash over with the back of his right hand, which was wrapped in gauze.
"Ouch." Bai Tiejun covered his chin in pain.
"Third Master, what for? I've memorized it all." Bai Tiejun rubbed his chin innocently.
But the next second, his face turned pale.
Behind the assessment table, a regimental staff member was staring at him with an ugly face.
Only then did he realize that their Third Squad was sitting directly opposite the assessment table.
"It's over!" Bai Tiejun lowered his head, took the book from under his buttocks, and buried his head in the book.
"Next, Steel Seventh Company First Squad Private Ma Jun, step forward!"
Feng Yuxiu opened his eyelids.
That veteran who had washed his feet twice for him.
Heard he was now the Deputy Squad Leader of the First Squad.
Ma Jun stood straight.
The regimental staff member looked calmly at Ma Jun and asked directly:
"How many charge numbers does the Type 83 122mm howitzer have?"
Ma Jun blurted out instantly: "Seven."
The staff member continued to ask: "Initial velocity of the No. 6 charge projectile?"
Ma Jun answered completely and accurately.
All the privates below didn't take it to heart.
They had long since memorized these things by heart.
That book was almost worn out from flipping.
Everyone's tense expressions slowly relaxed, and they even began to stretch and laugh.
Ma Jun's mouth curled slightly; this difficulty was average.
"What other tank uses the 120mm smoothbore gun of the Leopard 2 tank?"
The regimental staff member revealed a tricky smile and asked.
Ma Jun's face changed suddenly, and his eyes became flustered.
The privates below were instantly dumbfounded.
But some also frowned; they knew.
Ma Jun swallowed his saliva. "Report, I don't know!"
In the end, Ma Jun gave something like a 72-point performance.
Feng Yuxiu looked solemnly at the regimental staff member.
Gan Xiaoning, who was on the side, put down his book and cursed, "Isn't this messing around? This is already beyond the assessment scope of our mechanized infantry company. Where are the questions from? This seems to be the question stem of the Operational Command."
Bai Tiejun was no longer as calm as before. He muttered, lowering his head and frantically memorizing in a low voice.
Once nervous, his brain would become briefly blank.
Especially this kind of spot check.
Because when he was in school, he was often called up by teachers to answer questions.
If he couldn't answer, he'd get a slap.
Or his short hair on both temples would be rubbed against the grain.
Over time, he developed an inner shadow toward this kind of spot check.
"Keep asking!" Cheng Cai sat in the crowd and urged dissatisfiedly. He had three privates sitting in front of him, specifically serving Cheng Cai to review subjects.
Who let Cheng Cai be the number one sniper in the Steel Seventh Company.
"Lifespan of the Type 81 barrel?"
"Maximum range of the squad light machine gun? Effective range? Effective killing distance?"
"Slant range of the Hongying missile?"
Cheng Cai revealed a proud face, closed his eyes, pursed his lips, pondered for a moment, and said word by word: "300,000, 3400, 800, 1500, 4500."
"Awesome, awesome, worthy of being a sniper."
The three privates gave thumbs up one after another in praise.
Cheng Cai waved his hand proudly. "Give me something harder."
"But Cheng Cai, that was just Ma Jun from the First Squad. It seems the regimental staff's questions have exceeded the data we reviewed." A private kindly reminded him.
Cheng Cai sneered. "So what? As a sniper, I know everything. Isn't it just out-of-syllabus questions? How much can it exceed?"
"Keep going, keep going!"
The three of them busily flipped through the pages.
Cheng Cai was very obsessed with this feeling of being served, and his gaze glanced at Feng Yuxiu in the distance, his mouth curling slightly.
A blockhead who couldn't even pass high school, what kind of IQ could he have?
The First and Second Squads had all finished their assessment.
Cheng Cai got a high score of 89, but his face was still ugly.
He never expected that this regimental staff member would insist on asking about blind spots.
As long as he kept answering, the staff member's assessment questions would keep popping up.
Until Cheng Cai couldn't answer anymore.
Shi Jin immediately marched forward. "Report, Steel Seventh Company Third Squad is ready, please inspect, leader!"
The regimental staff member didn't even raise his head, flipping through the book on his own, looking for questions while looking at the Third Squad list.
Bai Tiejun was extremely nervous, muttering, "God bless, don't pick me first, Grandpa, bless me!"
Gan Xiaoning was constantly taking deep breaths.
Only Wu Liuyi sat straight, like a sculpture.
"Xu Sanduo, step forward!"
Following the regimental staff member's shout.
Bai Tiejun instantly collapsed like a deflated ball, revealing a joyful smile. "Luckily I wasn't the first."
Gao Cheng heard the words "Xu Sanduo" and his gaze swept over instantly.
What does Soldier King mean?
It's not just physical fitness; the technical assessment must also be solid.
Otherwise, wouldn't he just become a donkey that only knows how to grind?
Feng Yuxiu stood up, his hands wrapped in gauze, marched forward to the assessment staff member, and looked steadily ahead.
The staff member still kept his head down, not even looking at the person being assessed, just looking at the questions, and asked mechanically: "Bore pressure of the 105 tank main gun?"
They were the Steel Seventh Company, an armored reconnaissance company. He didn't expect the staff member to look at the tank company's questions.
Gao Cheng's face changed slightly. The assessments of other squads all started from the armored company and only became out-of-syllabus at the end.
But when it came to the Third Squad, it was a jump-style assessment question.
His face was very, very ugly.
Seeming to have thought of something, he cast his gaze inadvertently at Shi Jin, who was stretching his neck on the side.
