First Volume, Chapter 10: Fourth Sister Fierce

At the alley entrance stood a young woman, her jet-black hair cascading like a waterfall, loosely but deliberately falling over her shoulders.

She wore a white lightweight tunic above and a bright red ruqun below, holding a three-chi-seven-cun Jing Qianying's Sword.

Her eyebrows were arched like a crescent moon, her eyes sleepy yet sharp, her nose delicate, her lips cherry-red—every inch of her radiated efficiency and a cold, proud aura.

Her eyes were piercing as blades; though she was a daughter's body, she exuded an overwhelming sense of pressure.

This woman was Qin Feng's Fourth Sister, Jing Qianying!

Qin Feng seized this lifeline like a petty man who'd struck fortune, pointing at the two assassins and laughing loudly: "You're done for, hahaha, my fourth sister's here!"

Liu Hongyan, seeing Jing Qianying, quietly exhaled in relief—then heard Qin Feng start boasting again, and couldn't help but fly into a rage, delivering a hard kick to his buttocks: "Cut that out!"

Jing Qianying ignored Qin Feng entirely, walking slowly into the alley with one hand holding her sword.

Facing Jing Qianying's steady approach, the leader of the Black-Clothed Men sneered:

"I've long heard the Fourth Daughter of the Ministry of War's Minister is a martial prodigy since childhood, famed even among the Jianghu. I expected a tomboy—but never imagined you'd be so delicate and soft-skinned. I advise you to go home and embroider your bridal veil; swords and spears aren't for you—watch out you hurt yourself."

Seeing Jing Qianying's steps show no hesitation, the other Black-Clothed Man roared: "Brat, you're asking for death!"

Before the words faded, both Black-Clothed Men swung their blades simultaneously toward Jing Qianying.

Jing Qianying didn't dodge or retreat—only slightly shifted her body and slowly placed her right hand on the sword hilt.

A sharp "whoosh" rang out—and she had already sheathed her sword.

Simultaneously, the two Black-Clothed Men collapsed face-first before Jing Qianying; after a moment, a faint red line appeared on their necks.

So fast a sword technique!

At such close range, Qin Feng couldn't make out Jing Qianying's draw—suddenly, both assassins were dead with their throats slit.

I have such a powerful sister!

Qin Feng's eyes widened—he couldn't believe it, this was like a movie!

Qin Feng lunged forward, immediately collapsing at Jing Qianying's feet, clutching her thigh tightly, tears and snot streaming:

"Fourth Sister, you arrived just in time! My admiration for you is like the Yellow River flooding—unstoppable. What was that move you just used? Can you teach me?"

Jing Qianying's gaze was icy—she kicked Qin Feng away. Liu Hongyan spoiled him; she didn't care.

If Liu Hongyan punished Qin Feng, it was at most pulling his ear—but Jing Qianying truly would grind him into the ground.

After being kicked by Jing Qianying, Qin Feng didn't get angry—he grinned sycophantically, sidling up to her and buttering her up: "Fourth Sister, how did you know we were in trouble? With you here, even if the sky falls, I'm not afraid."

Liu Hongyan rolled her eyes, grabbed Qin Feng by the collar, and yanked him aside: "If you keep yammering, your fourth sister will beat you senseless!"

Seeing Qin Feng try to approach again, Jing Qianying glared—he grinned sheepishly and backed off slightly.

After searching the assassins' bodies and finding no valuable clues, Jing Qianying urged them to return home quickly, then left without looking back.

Watching Jing Qianying's back, Qin Feng wore a dazed smile, gazing longingly: "Fourth Sister is so cool."

Liu Hongyan slapped Qin Feng's forehead: "Stop daydreaming—let's go, before something else happens."

Since the coachman had been killed, Qin Feng and Liu Hongyan had to walk back.

On the way home, Qin Feng couldn't help but brood.

The only person who'd recently made an enemy of him was Li Rui—the two assassins were surely connected to him.

But I'm just a wastrel—what's so special about me that Li Rui would go to such lengths to kill me?

Is this truly just a continuation of the struggle at the Imperial Court?

Qin Feng didn't share these thoughts with Liu Hongyan or Jing Qianying.

After all, in Liang Capital, committing murder on the street was an extremely risky move for Li Rui.

If exposed, the charge of assassinating the Ministry of War's Minister's son alone would be enough to ruin Li Rui's entire family.

Now, Li Rui is willing to pay such a heavy price to eliminate me—his underlying interests must be deeply entangled.

Before understanding the full picture and gathering ironclad proof, Qin Feng didn't want to drag his sisters into this.

But one thing Qin Feng knew clearly: since Li Rui had already struck to kill, there would be a second time.

Qin Feng must not only guard against Li Rui's desperate lashing out—he must eliminate Li Rui as soon as possible!

Qin Feng, who had survived the brutal wars of commerce, understood the principle of "survival of the fittest, natural selection."

As Qin Feng and Liu Hongyan returned to the Qin Residence, a young maid approached nervously: "Master, your father is waiting for you in the Book Room—hurry there."

Hearing this, Qin Feng felt a dark premonition stir inside him.

According to the original body's memories, though Liu Hongyan doted on him and Jing Qianying never said it, she fiercely protected him.

But Qin Feng's father, Qin Tianhu, furious at his failure, constantly beat and scolded him.

Add to that Qin Feng's imminent expulsion from Shenglin Academy—and Qin Tianhu's disdain for him was absolute.

This urgent summons must mean trouble!

For safety's sake, Qin Feng begged and pleaded, refusing to go unless Liu Hongyan and Jing Qianying came with him—threatening to roll on the ground and throw a tantrum.

The two sisters had no choice but to accompany him.

Qin Tianhu's Book Room was in the Qin Residence's Back Courtyard—his private office, where only honored guests were ever allowed.

As Qin Feng pushed open the door, a tea cup flew straight at his face—he dodged backward in a flip.

Damn, this dad's got a temper…

"You good-for-nothing brat, how dare you come back!" A deep, rough voice boomed down.

Qin Feng shuddered, looking up—Qin Tianhu sat behind the desk, eyes blazing like a tiger's.

Though Qin Tianhu was born a scholar, since his appointment to the Ministry of War, he'd been immersed in armies and warfare, rising to Minister through sheer martial vigor—his scholarly air had long been replaced by fierce, warrior-like dominance.

The murderous aura in his gaze sent chills down the spine.

Seeing Qin Feng, Qin Tianhu's anger flared: "You worthless brat—I've warned you a hundred times not to run around with riffraff—do you think my words are wind in your ears?"

As he spoke, Qin Tianhu rose from his seat, snatched up a Whip, and moved to loosen Qin Feng's bones.

Qin Feng quickly hid behind Liu Hongyan, begging hysterically: "Father, even a tiger doesn't eat its own cub—spare my life!"

The more he said this, the angrier Qin Tianhu became!

As the son of the Minister of War, you're this cowardly and incompetent—you're bringing shame to the Qin Family!
