First Volume, Chapter 274: Secret Aid
Qin Feng had once heard Old Qin mention the Black Commandants.
Within the borders of Shedynasty, encountering a Black Commandant is like facing the Holy Chariot itself.
No one knows where the Black Commandants' headquarters is, nor can anyone say how many there are.
But one thing is certain: every Black Commandant is a demon of death.
Their personal martial prowess far surpasses that of the Imperial Guard, even rivaling the Palace Guards in combat.
Their assassination-technique rivals that of the Heavenly Ranking Jin ShaShou.
Or rather, many Black Commandants were originally from the Heavenly Ranking.
Before Qin Feng formed the Tianji Camp Guards, the entire capital and all of Shedynasty had only two top-tier tactical advantage organizations—and both were the Liang Emperor's arms.
The first was the Palace Guards: few in number, but unmatched in martial strength.
Every time Qin Feng attended court, the silent, statue-like Jin Armor Guards he saw in the Grand Hall were the Palace Guards. Jing Qianying once said that if the Palace Guards launched a full-scale assault, they could annihilate the Four Great Experts of the Capital in under fifteen minutes.
The Palace Guards were the Liang Emperor's trump card to balance the Shanyin Experts.
The second was the Black Commandants, specializing in assassination, espionage, and secret infiltration.
Not only within Shedynasty's borders, but even in surrounding nations, Black Commandants had left their shadows.
If the goal were merely to punish Li Lang, sending officials from Dali Temple would have sufficed.
Yet now that the Black Commandants had appeared, they had no intention of letting Li Lang leave Jingdu alive.
Qin Feng could not tell whether the Liang Emperor's extreme sensitivity toward the Ming Prince's family—dispatching Black Commandants immediately upon their unauthorized entry into the capital—stemmed from resentment or fear.
But one thing Qin Feng knew clearly.
Li Lang must not die.
Otherwise, Qin Feng would bear the blame, and the Qin Family would be locked in a blood feud with the Ming Prince, irreconcilable and eternal.
Qin Feng was about to mediate when he saw the two Black Commandants behind him pull short knives from their sleeves—white blades in, red blades out—and immediately execute the Ming Prince's soldiers lying on the ground.
The lead Black Commandant stared at Qin Feng with eyes devoid of any emotion.
As if warning Qin Feng: dare utter a single "no," and your fate will be no better than these soldiers'.
Under the watchful eyes of the Black Commandants.
Qin Feng suddenly let out a roar without warning, shoved Ning Hu aside, snatched a bench from beside him, and slammed it down with full force onto Li Lang—the blow left no room for mercy; the bench shattered instantly: "You call yourself Li Lang? You, a mere Noble Title of Baron, come to Jingdu to cause trouble—who gave you the courage? Do you even know who I am?"
Qin Feng displayed the Wastrel persona to perfection, kicking Li Lang hard: "So your father is the Ming Prince? My father is Minister of War and Supervisor of War! Do you know my connection to Ji Wang? Daring to provoke me? I'll beat you to death!"
Qin Feng pummeled Li Lang with fists and kicks, venting his rage, until the Black Commandants intervened: "Qin Feng, no need to waste your strength—hand him over to us."
But Qin Feng ignored them completely, feigning a mind clouded by fury, refusing to acknowledge the Black Commandants.
Seeing this, the Black Commandants stopped arguing and reached out to grab Qin Feng.
But as soon as they raised their hands, before touching Qin Feng, Ning Hu blocked them.
Ning Hu cared nothing for the political stakes—his duty was solely to protect Qin Feng, nothing more.
The Black Commandant glanced at Ning Hu with icy eyes—how dare someone in Shedynasty obstruct Black Commandants in the line of duty?
"Ning Qianhu, have you thought this through?"
This casual remark carried an overwhelming threat.
Ning Hu knew the Black Commandants' power, yet he did not retreat, answering calmly and firmly: "I am not merely a Qianhu—I am also New Army Vice General. Even if ten thousand Northern Di soldiers arrived, I would still stand before Qin Feng without hesitation. This is my duty."
The Black Commandant said nothing, stepped back, and continued watching Qin Feng intently, waiting for him to finish venting before taking Li Lang away.
Seeing the Black Commandants had no intention of leaving, Qin Feng gambled everything—he punched a few more times, still unsatisfied, then seized Li Lang by the shoulders and dragged him into the guest room.
The Black Commandants immediately followed, but blocked by Ning Hu and Shu Feng, they reached the door only to find Qin Feng had already thrown open the window—Jing Qianying had arrived.
Qin Feng's heart leapt—he lifted Li Lang and hurled him out the window, shouting loudly: "Dared to hit me? Today you'll learn your lesson!"
Qin Feng deliberately aimed the position—Li Lang first struck the Wine House plaque, then fell to the ground, the cushioning preventing immediate death.
Yet after Qin Feng's brutal beating, Li Lang was already unconscious.
At the same time, Qin Feng pointed at Li Lang and cried out to Jing Qianying: "Fourth Sister, you're finally here—if you'd come a moment later, my life would've been over!"
At these words, the crowd gathered on the Street stared blankly.
What the hell?
They looked at the unconscious Li Lang, then at Qin Feng, unharmed—and wondered: who was beating whom?
The Street was packed with people, all pointing at Li Lang.
"This… isn't the Son of the Ming Prince, the Baron of Fuyun County?"
"Good heavens, beaten this badly? Qin Feng is too cruel."
"This is it—the Qin Family and the Ming Prince are now sworn enemies."
The Black Commandants arrived at the Wine House door immediately, but the crowd was too thick, and Jing Qianying stood beside Li Lang.
One tall, thin Black Commandant stepped forward to detain Li Lang, but the lead Black Commandant grabbed his arm.
"This has become too public—we must not show ourselves."
The three Black Commandants turned toward Aifeng's Back Door; as they passed the staircase, they met Qin Feng storming down, furious—the lead Black Commandant's eyes darkened with killing intent, yet he ultimately held back.
Qin Feng felt the Black Commandants' gaze prickling his skin, but pretended indifference, sprinting out of the Wine House, grabbing Li Lang's hair, and roaring: "Everyone, look! This is the Ming Prince's son—causing chaos in Fuyun County and now daring to stir trouble in Jingdu! This isn't over—he must be ransomed by the Ming Prince!"
Without another word, Qin Feng dragged Li Lang away before all eyes.
Qin Xiaofu thought his master had exploded out of anger on his behalf—he was moved to tears.
Meanwhile, the Black Commandants returned to the Imperial Palace at top speed.
Soon after, the Black Commandant leader reported the incident truthfully to the Liang Emperor.
The Liang Emperor kept his head lowered, focused on reviewing memorials.
Li Zhan, however, sweated profusely, not daring to breathe.
He did not know how long passed before the Liang Emperor slowly set down his brush and asked, seemingly at random: "This Qin Feng — is he truly so bold as to dare beat the son of the Ming King in the street?"
Li Zhan had attended the Liang Emperor for over a dozen years and naturally understood the Liang Emperor's thoughts.
Those words concealed killing intent within them, their edge aimed squarely at Qin Feng…
