Chapter 432
First Volume, Chapter 432: How Dare You Impersonate Qin Qianhu?
Qin Feng waved his hand, stopping the Tianji Camp Guards.
The opponent was undoubtedly a Shanyin Expert, and besides, this terrain was mountainous, complex, with dense vegetation, ideal for Guerrilla Warfare.
The enemy was hidden while we were exposed; rash pursuit would inevitably lead to heavy losses.
Moreover, the opponent had no intention of harming Qin Feng; their goal had already been achieved, so further violence would be meaningless.
Furthermore, the Tianji Camp Guards could not linger in Jingdu, so Qin Feng immediately ordered them to return to Beixi County.
As for the Brocade Uniform Guards, their recent activities had been too frequent, likely drawing the attention of the Black Guard Office.
For safety's sake, Qin Feng decided to withdraw most of the Brocade Uniform Guards from the Jingdu region, leaving only a dozen or so as backup.
Tanlong Mountain was not far from Jingdu City; walking took just over one Envoy.
Leaving two Brocade Uniform Guards as covert protection, Qin Feng walked back alone; the city was already in sight—when, at this critical deadline, a rapid clatter of hooves reached his ears.
Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw a cavalry unit charging from City South, estimated at over thirty men, all clad in Light Armor.
Qin Feng's heart sank; how could there be cavalry near Jingdu City? Could they be coming for him? Thinking this, he turned and ran—but his two legs could never outpace four horse legs.
In an instant, they caught up; seeing the danger, Qin Feng took a deep breath and shouted at the surrounding cavalry: "Military Master, spare my life!"
When encountering soldiers outside, no matter how high one's status, one must keep one's tail tucked.
Arrogance only invites death.
After all, not everyone in Heaven knew Qin Feng's identity; if he truly met a reckless fool who slashed him down, he'd have no place to cry.
Seeing Qin Feng so compliant, the cavalry lowered their spears and circled him several times.
The lead cavalryman barked harshly: "Who are you? Why are you wandering alone in the heart of Jingdu?!"
Qin Feng did not know these cavalrymen's origins and dared not reveal his identity, so he smiled ingratiatingly: "Just passing through. Please, Military Master, grant me passage."
The lead cavalryman's gaze turned hostile: "Passing through? Do you have a Tongguan Wendi?!"
Tongguan Wendi? Qin Feng had no need for such a thing—he always just walked straight through wherever he went.
But today, he had no bodyguards to back him; those two Brocade Uniform Guards, though formidable, specialized in assassination—if conflict broke out, the cavalry would simply trample them to death.
Seeing Qin Feng hesitate and evade, the lead cavalryman lost patience and growled: "Jingdu City is under lockdown; no unauthorized persons may enter or leave. Since you cannot produce a Tongguan Wendi, it's your own bad luck!"
As he spoke, the cavalryman raised his spear, ready to skewer Qin Feng.
Qin Feng stared at the spear, trembling inside—but the cavalryman's words struck him as odd, so he quickly asked: "Why the sudden lockdown?"
The lead cavalryman coldly barked: "The Supervisory Special Envoy, Qin Qianhu, has been kidnapped by traitors. All Thirty-Six Counties of Jingdu are under lockdown. If you have more questions, let me make you a ghost who understands the situation."
So that was it.
Qin Feng exhaled in relief and patted his chest: "I am Qin Feng!"
The moment he said it, the lead cavalryman's eyes bulged with fury: "Bold! How dare you impersonate Qin Qianhu!"
"Who is Qin Qianhu? He once rode a thousand li to the Northern Border to save his mother and slew the Beidi Legendary Tooth General Zhong Ling. He quelled rebellion in seven days and repelled the Beidi Sanggan Army—what a heroic, divine warrior! How could you, a weakling, even be mentioned in the same breath?!"
The other cavalrymen were equally outraged, seething with anger.
"How dare you insult Qin Qianhu? You Seek death!"
"Where did this Nubi come from, daring to impersonate Qin Qianhu?!"
Though his head was nearly severed, Qin Feng felt a strange delight at their shouts, and he rubbed his nose, his face flushing.
He hadn't expected his prestige among the troops to be so high.
Hehehe, they're flattering me so much I'm almost embarrassed.
But as he looked at the gleaming spear in their hands, his back chilled again—he had no proof of identity, and relying only on his word, he might die here today. To be killed by his own men, not by enemies or political rivals, was too unjust.
Just as Qin Feng was at a loss for words, another swift clatter of hooves sounded again.
A commander clad in golden armor, wielding a Zhan Dao at his waist, carrying a Bow and Arrow on his back, and holding a spear, galloped toward them.
"Whoa!"
The commander yanked the reins hard, bringing his Warhorse to a stop; only then did Qin Feng realize the commander was a woman!
A female commander? Wow, how novel!
The cavalrymen immediately saluted the female commander with clasped fists.
The female commander ignored them, slammed her spear into the ground, dismounted, and strode straight toward Qin Feng. Before he could react, she kicked him squarely on the buttocks and cried out: "Where have you been?!"
Qin Feng clutched his rear and shuffled aside, puzzled—this voice… why did it sound so familiar? Like he'd heard it somewhere before.
As Qin Feng stared, bewildered, the female commander removed her Helmet, revealing a face he knew better than his own—it was Xie Yun'er!
Qin Feng froze.
In Qin Feng's mind, Xie Yun'er loved martial arts but had always been a troublemaker within the city walls—he'd never heard she wore armor or rode into battle.
Qin Feng could hardly believe his eyes.
This stunningly fierce female general was his fiancée.
Qin Feng lunged forward, embraced her tightly, alternately laughing with joy and whimpering in grievance.
"Yun'er, I almost didn't get to see you again."
Xie Yun'er had been furious, but seeing Qin Feng's pitiful expression, her heart softened; she glared at him: "We'll settle this when we get home!"
Before the stunned cavalrymen, Xie Yun'er leapt onto her Warhorse, grabbed Qin Feng by the shoulder, hoisted him onto the saddle, and galloped toward the City Gate.
Only when they vanished from sight did the patrol cavalry snap out of their shock.
"That man… was really Qin Qianhu?! This… how is that possible? Qin Qianhu is such a heroic warrior—how could he be such a weak, cowardly wimpse?!"
"Not only weak—he seems afraid of his wife?!"
"I'm ruined. All my admiration for Qin Qianhu is gone."
Qin Feng had no idea his heroic image had collapsed completely in the eyes of the cavalrymen.
Inside the City Gate, he dismounted, but Xie Yun'er grabbed his shoulder and yanked him backward with force.
Surrounded by passersby pointing and whispering, Qin Feng could not help but blush. He whispered, "We're in public—can't you give me some face?"
