Chapter 1037: Brilliantly Appearing
Yin Song set Pan Yun down on the ground, lifted one corner of her cloak, revealing only a black, round head: "Senior Brother, the spiritual rain is still falling—what do we do?"
Wang Feiyin stepped forward, felt her pulse, pried open her mouth, and shoved a spiritual pill inside: "Her cultivation method is activating on its own—let her stay here and get soaked."
The rain lasted exactly half an hour; the drops were fine but mobile, and the cloud above Pan Yun's head delivered her less than twenty minutes of rain before drifting away to nourish other things.
Wang Feiyin decided it was enough, picked her up, and left, leaving Yin Song and his disciples behind.
"Senior Brother, what should we do?"
"The Emperor insisted on coming to meet her—can she let him see her like this? You two handle the reception."
With Zhang Zijin inside the palace, Wang Feiyin understood the principle of "once is enough, never twice," so he did not enter the palace again—even flying around it to return to Jingcheng.
Wang Feiyin carried her with utmost propriety toward the Pan residence, each step spanning vast distances in an instant.
Pan Yun was completely concealed beneath the cloak; no one could tell Wang Feiyin was carrying a person—some might have thought he was hauling a bundle of something.
But no one had the leisure to notice him—the city was filled with joy, everyone chasing the auspicious clouds overhead.
Colorful phoenixes transformed into drifting auspicious clouds, slowly fading away.
Those who had stared skyward, chasing the clouds, did not see the grass sprouting vigorously where the fine rain had touched the corners of walls, nor the tiny flowers blooming atop the ramparts.
Only when the auspicious clouds finally finished raining and slanting sunlight fell did they realize Jingcheng seemed unusually bright and fresh.
Unknown wildflowers sprouted from wall tops and corners, emitting a faint, sweet fragrance.
Wang Feiyin walked against the crowd, precisely locating the Pan residence.
The Pan household was empty.
Both Pan Hong and his son had been detained at the magistrate's office, while Pan Yu remained on the street maintaining order, and the servants had all run out to chase the clouds.
Wang Feiyin's gaze swept the room and found the chamber Pan Hong had left for Pan Yun; he kicked the door open and laid her, cloak and all, onto the bed.
Wang Feiyin shook his slightly aching hand, turned to leave—then paused, unable to help turning back.
The person on the bed lifted one corner of the cloak; their eyes met, and Pan Yun grinned.
A row of white teeth appeared on the blackened egg—Wang Feiyin found it painful to look, immediately averted his gaze, deliberately shook his shoulders twice before lowering his voice in sorrow: "Little Sister, your hair is gone again."
Pan Yun frowned, reached up and touched her scalp—her long hair had long since carbonized and vanished in the wind; she touched her eyebrows—also completely bare.
She looked down at her hands and realized her fingers were black; with a light tug, she peeled off a layer of charred skin, revealing tender white flesh beneath.
Pan Yun could hardly believe it: "Senior Brother, I remember last time you crossed Tribulation Crossing, you didn't lose your hair—your eyebrows and beard were still there, even turned green again."
Wang Feiyin, facing away, spoke gently: "Perhaps your method of Tribulation Crossing is flawed. This path can only be understood intuitively, not explained—reflect on it yourself, test it during your next Tribulation Crossing—perhaps then you'll retain your hair."
Pan Yun growled: "Senior Brother, are you smiling at me right now, with your back turned?"
Wang Feiyin paused, then spoke sternly: "I know you're heartbroken now, but don't be so sensitive—it's just hair. Three months of seclusion and it'll grow back—fast."
He turned and hurried out: "I'll go to the kitchen and get you something to eat. You bathe yourself."
Pan Yun cursed under her breath but sat up, calling out: "Where's the Emperor?"
"They went to Mei Mountain to meet you—by now, they've probably just reached the foot of the mountain."
Pan Yun moved faster—she would appear before the Emperor and the ministers, utterly renewed.
