Chapter 1000: The God of Omniscience Has Some Skill

~7 min read 1,218 words

Anthony sighed faintly, "The Boss is too capable; it makes us feel like we have no room to show off."

Negris rolled its eyes and nodded vigorously, then turned as if to fly away.

Anthony's heart skipped a beat, and he grabbed it, asking, "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to tell Ang that you think he's too capable and that it leaves you no room to show off, so he should hold back a bit in the future," Negris said with a giggle.

"I didn't! Don't talk nonsense," Anthony said urgently.

Negris just grinned and didn't respond.

Anthony had no choice but to put on a smiling face, "Lord Negris, how about I find you ten dragonesses to serve you?"

Negris said, "Not interested. I'm still a virgin; I can't handle that many dragonesses."

"Oh my, how can you still remember something from decades ago? You're so petty," Anthony said, annoyed. It had been decades since he last called it a "virgin" dragon, and this petty creature still remembered.

Negris stood with its hands on its hips, triumphantly, "I am the God of Knowledge; I have the best memory."

Anthony struggled for a moment, sighed helplessly, and realized that without the little angel, the little zombie, or the little tree here, it was hard to deal with this dragon. He had to put on a smiling face, coaxing it with promises of unequal conditions before finally pacifying Negris.

Thinking about this, Anthony wished he could slap himself a few times. Why did he have to go around sighing randomly?

He rubbed his face and patted his chest. Holy light flowed, manifesting a solemn robe on him—something like what a professor at a magic academy would wear, looking very professional.

Then, holding a book in his left hand and a mirror staff in his right, he floated out.

This was the "God of Omniscience" image set he had put together after consulting Koseini. The book represented knowledge, and the mirror represented self-awareness. Knowledge is easy, but self-awareness is very difficult.

It is hardest for a person to see themselves clearly; only by having knowledge and clearly recognizing oneself can one be called omniscient.

After floating out, Anthony's voice resounded throughout the space, "I have returned. The Lord of Radiance aided my rebirth. Remember: Bonide betrayed Omniscience and has been executed. My divine soul was damaged during rebirth, and I have forgotten much. You shall report to Koseini first, then come to tell me."

After speaking, he descended toward the Omniscient Divine Domain on the ground. Ang had already landed on the grain piles a step ahead of him.

Having finally gotten the better of Anthony, Negris was in a great mood. It followed him down and complained, "This is too crude, isn't it? I thought you were going to put on a grand show of divine mystery to make them believe you implicitly. Who would really believe you're the Lord of Omniscience with such a sloppy act?"

Anthony said, "It's no longer necessary. The moment the Boss shattered the Omniscient Divine Domain, no other means were needed. Even if I jumped out now and said I wasn't, they would all kneel and hug my thighs, saying, 'No, you are, you are, you are!' Otherwise, their companions wouldn't let them off."

"As long as those closest to the gods say I am, it doesn't matter what others think. Didn't you say it's not the gods who protect the believers, but the believers who create the gods? These people represent the believers."

"But believers need to eat. When they are full, you can represent them; when they are starving, even if a god is standing right in front of them, they could tear you apart. Those grains are the chips that ensure they won't be torn apart by the believers. So, it's unnecessary. Just for the sake of that grain, they would lift me onto the divine throne of the Lord of Omniscience."

Anthony's cold, logical analysis left Negris feeling deflated. It grumbled, "That relationship was supposed to be sacred, but the way you put it makes it sound so vulgar."

"No, no, Lord Negris, you've got it wrong. This is a very vulgar matter because we are dealing with ordinary people. Ordinary people have all sorts of desires. Solving their desires can earn their piety. Packaging everything as sacred is just for better dissemination." Anthony corrected.

Negris pondered for a while and sighed, "What you say makes sense. No wonder my Hall of Knowledge couldn't spread. It turns out my understanding of faith was completely backward. Why don't my believers understand these things?"

Anthony spread his hands, "That's normal. If you can't spread it, the believers can't summarize their experiences or improve their theories, making it even harder to spread. You've entered a downward spiral. Unless you're exceptionally lucky, it's very hard to break through."

"What counts as 'exceptionally lucky'?" Negris asked.

"Meeting a genius Pope like me," Anthony boasted shamelessly.

"I asked you to convert, but you wouldn't."

"My Lord Ang, if you can beat him, I'll convert."

"Pfft."

The two bickered lightly as they landed in the Omniscient Sea. Seeing the situation inside, Negris couldn't help but complain, "The Omniscient Sea has become a granary? How much grain is stored here?"

A halo flashed behind Ang, and he said, "9.67 million tons."

"Hiss... The divine domain's space is truly vast, and that's a lot of grain. But why store so much?" Negris asked, puzzled.

A normal person consumes about 200 kilograms of grain a year. Even with other food, 100 kilograms wouldn't starve them. This nearly 10 million tons of grain, if divided among everyone in this plane, would be nearly a ton per person—enough to last ten years if eaten sparingly.

Why would a god use their divine domain to hoard so much grain?

Unable to figure it out, Negris and Anthony began to search the divine domain, only to find nothing inside but piles of grain.

"This isn't right. Where are the books? Are there no books, registers, divine records, or divine fire in the Lord of Omniscience's domain?" Negris asked, surprised.

The things Negris mentioned were all carriers of information. No matter what they were, as long as they could record information, one could learn a lot. Even encrypted inscriptions would reveal more than an empty divine domain filled only with grain.

Ang's consciousness swept through the area, focusing on the thick piles of grain. Soon, he found something. The grain surged like quicksand, and a statue was quickly pushed out from the pile.

This statue held a book in one hand and a mirror staff in the other, almost identical to Anthony's set. However, the equipment on the statue was real; the robe, staff, and book could all be removed.

Anthony immediately stripped the statue and put on the robe and staff, but tossed the book to Negris.

Negris flipped through the pages quickly. After reading a few, its expression turned surprised, "Hey, this Lord of Omniscience actually has some skill."

It flipped through a few more pages, its expression turning grave. It read until the very last page, then slammed it shut and said, "If you predicted a great disaster that would lead to crop failure and famine, what would you do?"
