Chapter 1272
"The reward is sixty bottles of stardust and one white crystal," Lightning said.
"What is stardust? And the white crystal—which kind is it? Does it have Star Shift, or is it without?" Negris asked.
There are two types of white crystals: one possesses the Star Shift ability, while the other does not. They are identical in size, color, and power level; the only distinction is the Star Shift ability.
All those with Star Shift are looted from the bodies of Starborn, such as those from the Starborn Lord, Nan Huan Mian, Bei Huan Mian, Xisilu, or the Witch. Those without Star Shift are dug out of the ground. To this day, Ang has yet to figure out the difference between the two.
"The kind with Star Shift. And stardust is this stuff." As Lightning spoke, it kicked Lu Se, who hurriedly pulled out a crudely made pottery jar.
Anthony opened it and immediately cursed: "Profiteer! You want to trade this trash for Fallen Power? Just ask the little angel; she can gather dozens of bottles of this herself."
Inside the jar was nothing but floating powder, extremely fine. As it drifted, it shimmered like the scales of a butterfly. Yet, Anthony recognized it at a glance—isn't this the very Star Power the little angel captures every day by spreading her wings? They call this stardust?
"Ah? The little angel? She has stardust?" Lightning asked, stunned. It had come here with the little angel, so how could it not know?
Anthony explained, and Lightning suddenly realized: "We don't dare share the Master's vision, so how would I know that what the little angel captures is this stuff? So, this really is Star Power? I thought they were lying to me. But this stuff can indeed repair and strengthen white crystals."
"How big is one of these sixty bottles?" Anthony asked again.
Upon learning they were only the size of this jar, Anthony laughed: "You've been swindled. This isn't 'generous'; this is what you give a beggar. Do you know what kind of problem the Tree God has run into?"
What Guman Snake is facing is Ge Bao, a part of a distant Star. If Starborn are the children of Stars, then Ge Bao is a part of the Star itself. Once its power rises, it might be even harder to deal with than an aging Star like the Azure Star.
Judging by the fact that Ge Bao, Mai Bao, and Bulizi each possess different abilities—Bulizi is the Star's wisdom, Ge Bao is the Star's will, and Mai Bao is the Star's combat power—one can see their abilities are systematic, unlike the crude Azure Star.
Because they are part of the Star, the Star is their home field. Guman Snake is not as adapted to the Star's environment; it cannot even distinguish them from the Star's molten fire.
Guman Snake needs a way to distinguish them. How could it possibly offer such common goods as a reward?
This so-called stardust is merely the Star Power radiated by the Star every moment, solidified through some unknown method. A Star radiates millions of tons of this energy daily. To trade sixty bottles for something that can deal with "a part of a Star"?
This is definitely not a reward Guman Snake would offer. It must be some organization or individual acting as a middleman, trying to profit from the information gap.
The only thing with any value is that white crystal with Star Shift.
"Are you sure the white crystal they're giving has Star Shift?" Anthony asked.
"I'm not sure. They guaranteed it has Star Shift, claiming it was dug from the corpse of another Starborn. But since they've already tried to fool me with this common trash, I don't believe their guarantee anymore. I'm going to go curse them to death." Lightning said, annoyed.
"Wait a minute. What did they say? They said it was dug from the corpse of another Starborn?" Although Anthony only wanted to expose the middleman's scheme, Lightning's words moved him.
There are currently two ways to obtain white crystals: looting them from Starborn corpses or digging them from the ground. Those dug from the ground lack Star Shift. If one can find a Starborn corpse, it is indeed a way to obtain white crystals with Star Shift.
Do Starborn die? Of course. If you stretch time long enough, everything becomes increasingly disordered and eventually collapses and vanishes. Even Stars die, let alone Starborn.
Diakosi's tribe was the corpse of a dead Starborn; the lesser Starborn were birthed by that corpse. Such cases are not uncommon.
If one could find a Starborn corpse, it would be a good method for obtaining Star Shift white crystals. Thinking of this, Anthony asked: "Who gave you the mission?"
"A Starborn that looks like a scorpion, named Aolite." Led by Lightning, Anthony met Aolite on a certain "leaf."
The World Tree is truly immense. Each leaf is practically a world of its own, comparable to a main plane. A famous figure on this leaf might be unheard of on another.
Anthony had never heard the name Aolite in the slave market, but upon arriving here, he discovered this fellow was no small fry. It was at least a Void-level Starborn, one of the top-tier Starborn Anthony had ever seen, perhaps only weaker than the Starborn Lord.
Yet, this Void-level Starborn was being forced back by Lightning's curses: "You damn multi-legged bug, you have so many feet that waste shoes, you should chop them all off and replace them with mouths. Your mouth is very useful; one snap of your upper and lower lips and you swallow half the reward. Even a dung beetle isn't as greedy as you. You dare give me sixty jars of stardust for a mission issued by the Tree God? Do you think I'm a fool? Believe it or not, I'll block your door and curse you for a hundred years without repeating a word..."
Aolite retreated step by step, saying: "Friend Lightning, the Tree God issued the mission, but the Tree God didn't give a reward! These rewards are my own contribution. I want to offer them to the Tree God for free, but I'm not very wealthy, so I can only offer this much. If you don't want it, fine, but why curse me?"
Lightning was rendered speechless on the spot. Anthony couldn't help but straighten up; this kind of rhetoric was not simple. Anthony felt he had met a worthy opponent and couldn't help but take it seriously.
"Lord Aolite, greetings. I am the Vice President of the Diakosi Chamber of Commerce. Our chamber has some clues regarding the Tree God's mission, but we cannot contact the Tree God. I originally intended to ask you to relay the message, but since there is no reward, that is a pity. Forget it, we are leaving." Anthony turned to go.
"Wait, wait! There is, there is! There is a reward, don't go yet!"
