Chapter 1352: Is there a second spray-melon here?
Ang brought everyone along via soul-shift to the leaf where the slave market was located, arriving at the edge to gaze toward the trunk of the World Tree.
"Where is it moving? It's not moving at all," Neigris said.
All they could see was the World Tree as it had always been: a thick, straight trunk supporting a massive canopy composed of countless enormous leaves.
Each leaf was one to two thousand kilometers long, divided into a sunny side and a shady side. The side directly struck by the God-Star's light was the sunny side, while the side above, unreachable by direct sunlight, belonged to the shady side. Star-born and sub-born primarily lived on the shady side, though a few special ones, like the God-Star Shadows, lived on the sunny side.
Looking over now, the World Tree showed no difference from the past, and the main body of Guman Snake was nowhere to be seen.
The little tree-person went, "Ya-ya-ya—"
"It moved," Ang translated.
Only he could understand the "ya-ya-ya" of the little tree-seedling and the little tree-person. This was an information fluctuation, not a language at all. It was like "I'm about to bloom," "I'm about to sprout," or "I'm about to rot"—an old farmer would understand it at a glance, but even the most brilliant linguist couldn't translate it.
Neigris had translated the little tree-seedling's information before, but those were simple messages. With the little tree-person describing such complex content, even this God of Knowledge was stumped.
Since the little tree-person insisted it had "moved," Neigris stopped questioning it. Guman Snake was parasitic upon it; if it moved, how could it not know?
However, Neigris still found it strange: "Why would it move? Is it trying to take action personally? If its main body is seen by others, won't it cause panic? How will it continue to mix in here in the future?"
Anthony said with a solemn expression, "If it is confident that its main body won't be seen, then fine. If not, then the Star-born here are in trouble."
"Trouble? How so? Does it dare to kill every Star-born that sees it?" Neigris asked.
Anthony countered, "Why wouldn't it? Would you be afraid to pee on an anthill in your dragon lair?"
"Uh..." Neigris was speechless. Thinking about it that way, it seemed there was nothing it wouldn't dare to do. The gap between Guman Snake and the Star-born was likely even greater than the gap between it as a dragon and the ants. Killing them would be no different than killing a nest of ants.
Thinking of this, Neigris couldn't sit still anymore. "I'm going to call Silver Coin and the Bamboo-Joint Worms back."
"I'll go with you. I also want to see what Silver Coin's situation is," Anthony said.
Anthony hadn't checked on Silver Coin for a long time because he no longer had anyone to support and no financial pressure, so he naturally didn't need financial support from Silver Coin.
What Silver Coin was doing now was purely a personal hobby.
The so-called "slave market" on the World Tree had now become the headquarters of the Silver Chamber of Commerce, concentrating a large number of Star-born and sub-born, forming an underground city with a population of thirty thousand.
Thirty thousand didn't sound like much, but these were Star-born and sub-born. Although sub-born were the majority, they were still secondary descendants of the God-Star. If you just grabbed one and threw them onto a main material plane, it wouldn't be difficult for them to take on three or five Sword Saints in a one-on-one fight.
And Silver Coin was indeed doing just that: labor dispatch. After branding the intelligent, combat-capable, and obedient sub-born with consciousness marks, he sent them to major planes of the Holy Light Alliance to protect industries or join the Vegetable Bone Mercenary Group to do some shady work.
As for the Star-born, they couldn't be sent out. They had the same problem as the Ancient Gods of the Chaos Plane: they couldn't leave the God-Star for too long, or they would easily starve to death.
The Ancient Gods of the Chaos Plane, including the Abyss Maw, the Dark Origin, and even the Space-Time Ancient Dragon, couldn't leave the Chaos Mist for too long, or they would starve, as ordinary food couldn't satisfy their energy needs.
The Star-born were the same. They could jump around happily just by basking in the sun here, but if they went to a plane, even if they chewed on magic crystals every day, they would quickly wither. This was why no Star-born could be found on the planes. With their star-shifting ability, traveling to a plane wasn't difficult, but none were willing to leave the God-Star too far behind.
Of course, the agreement between the "Tree God" and the King of Feilie was also a factor, but how many Star-born knew about this agreement?
They hadn't walked far when Anthony saw a row of war-chess boards. These boards were enormous, each the size of a city, with lines crisscrossing them.
However, no Star-born were playing chess there now. The World Tree was about to be severed, and the "Tree God" had long since summoned all the Star-born to go and intercept the enemy, leaving behind only the flightless Earth-rank Star-born.
In such a state of total war, the Earth-rank Star-born didn't dare to continue playing. If they were seen by those high-level Star-born and got beaten up out of jealousy, they would have nowhere to complain.
The war-chess was like this, and so was the dodgeball. All the games played by the Star-born were currently suspended.
Anthony and Neigris arrived at a ground fissure and soon saw a bustling, noisy, and lively "city." Countless sub-born of various shapes were shuttling back and forth, transporting goods, hawking products, or engaging in entertainment. It was quite lively.
There were no roads here; the sub-born either flew or jumped, so they didn't need roads. Furthermore, there were few buildings. Since there was no rain and no sunlight, buildings weren't needed. Most sub-born just dug a pit or drew a circle on the ground to serve as their territory.
Thus, the fissure was filled with pits and circles.
Could these pits and circles really be called a "city"?
They soon found Silver Coin. He was in one of the few buildings in the fissure, working with Du Luo Ken to identify and purchase goods brought by the sub-born.
He was holding a fruit shell, looking at it left and right, then handed it to Du Luo Ken to examine for a while. The two whispered to each other for a moment before turning to the sub-born who had brought the shell.
"We don't know what kind of plant this is, but its shell can withstand the high temperatures here, so it shouldn't be an ordinary plant. However, it's empty inside; the most important fruit is already gone. How about this: I'll buy your shell for one star-dust. If you can bring back a complete fruit next time, I'll guarantee ten star-dust, with no upper limit. Is that okay?" Silver Coin said familiarly.
The sub-born who brought the shell was disappointed. "Alright. But the place where I found this shell is too far away. I won't be going back there again."
Silver Coin gave it one star-dust and accepted the shell. But just as the sub-born was about to leave, Anthony intercepted it. "Where did you find these shells? If you tell me the location, I can give you ten star-dust."
An empty shell could only sell for one star-dust, but information about a location it wouldn't visit again could sell for ten. The Star-born immediately sold the location.
Silver Coin leaned over curiously. "Lord Anthony, do you recognize this shell?"
"It's not that I recognize it, but Lord Neigris does. He says this is a spray-melon shell. Is there a second spray-melon here?" Anthony said.
