Chapter 1544
"Is it possible to manifest the star souls? Can you manifest them, and ask them what the situation is?" asked Negris.
As soon as Negris finished speaking, before Ang could even answer, Anthony and Ulssman stared with wide eyes, looking at him in disbelief.
Negris was confused: "Why are you looking at me?"
Anthony leaned in, tilting Negris's head left and right: "It's still Lord Negris, but why is he so smart and quick-witted this time?"
Ulssman also said: "Indeed, we didn't even think of manifesting the star souls to ask them. How did you think of it before us?"
It was truly strange. Negris, as a pet, usually didn't come up with reliable ideas, but now he had suddenly outpaced them. It was too rare.
"What's so strange about that? My Huang Tong Book is also page by page..."
At this point, Negris felt a surge of spirit and slapped his waist hard: "I knew it felt familiar! Isn't this just like my Huang Tong Book? It collects star souls, while my Huang Tong Book collects heroic spirits."
Anthony and Ulssman looked at each other and suddenly realized: "That's right. If it's the same mechanism, we don't even need to manifest them; we can talk to them directly, as long as we grant them the ability to think."
"Just like me," Ulssman added.
Back then, Ulssman had also been captured by Ang in the Huang Tong Book and granted the ability to think by it.
Later, with the white crystals, he gained independent thinking, though compared to when he was in the Huang Tong Book, the independent Ulssman lost that astonishing speed of thought and no longer had such a stunning performance.
Of course, a wise man is still a wise man; he just takes longer to think, and his immediate reactions have slowed down.
"If that's the case, can we manifest the consciousness from the fragment, put it into the Huang Tong Book, and let it talk to us?" Anthony asked.
No sooner had Anthony finished speaking than a golden-yellow Huang Tong Book floated out from the membrane, and Ang's voice sounded simultaneously: "Star soul, cannot manifest. Catch one, big."
"Cannot manifest the star soul? Is it that you can't manifest it right now, or that star souls cannot be manifested?" Negris asked, opening the Huang Tong Book as he spoke, curious to see how big it was.
Inside the Huang Tong Book, he saw an eel with long legs. Because there was no reference point, he couldn't tell how big it was. Negris curiously dove in, and immediately, his true form manifested beside the eel's toe.
"Hiss—so big? Isn't this even bigger than the true form of the Speed Snail?" Negris was shocked beyond measure.
The Speed Snail, also known as the Iron-Scaled Scavenger, was a massive ancient god with a body comparable to a main material plane. A single scale of it was ten kilometers long, five kilometers wide, and five hundred meters thick, and being made of iron, it was extremely hard.
The long-legged eel before him was even more massive than the Iron-Scaled Scavenger; a single toe was hundreds of times larger than Negris's brass dragon true form, and his true form was a fifty-meter-tall brass dragon.
The long-legged eel seemed to notice Negris, lowered its head to look, and flicked its tongue.
A tongue hundreds of times larger than the brass dragon shot out from the eel's mouth, sticking to Negris like a chameleon catching an ant, trying to pull him into its mouth.
If this were reality, Negris would definitely have been stuck; he hadn't reacted at all before his face was covered.
However, this was the Huang Tong Book, his home turf. He didn't want to move, and even a million stars couldn't shake him here.
The long-legged eel retracted its tongue and found the little yellow "booger" still in front of it. Unfortunately, it had no eyes and couldn't see his expression, but its head tilted to one side, showing its confusion.
It flicked its tongue again, but upon retracting it, found Negris still hadn't moved.
The long-legged eel became stubborn and kept flicking its tongue. After several times, Negris was stuck to the ground in a lump.
"Ahhh, are you done yet? I'll step on you to death!" Negris was so angry his form began to swell.
This was his territory; he could grow as large as he wanted. Soon, his form grew larger than the eel, and he stepped on the eel in return.
The eel retracted its four legs and, from a "long-legged" eel, shrank directly into a regular eel, spraying blobs of acid from a row of small holes on its body.
The parts of Negris that were sprayed charred and withered rapidly, eventually turning into fly ash.
"What... what is this thing? This is too terrifying, right?" Negris said, shocked.
Even the most powerful acid wouldn't have such a rapid effect upon contact. This wasn't acid at all; it was more like liquid high-temperature star flame, directly annihilating whatever it touched.
Unfortunately, this was the Huang Tong Book. With a thought from Negris, his charred limbs restored to their original state. Then, Negris reached out a claw, picked up the eel, and examined it.
This eel had probably never been picked up in its entire life, but it quickly found a way to respond. Its long body coiled around Negris's claw, and then it opened its mouth: "Hee—ptoo!"
Another spray of acid landed on Negris's head.
His entire head was turned to ash, but Negris was completely fine. He pinched the eel with his claw and shook it violently, shaking the eel until it was dizzy.
Outside the Huang Tong Book, Anthony said: "My lord, the intelligence of this eel doesn't seem to be up to par. Can we switch to another intelligent creature?"
A bulge appeared on the membrane, and the Huang Tong Book was rolled inside. Not long after, it was spat back out. Nothing seemed to have changed, but upon flipping to another page, a human appeared on the page.
Divine light floated on the human's body, surrounded by several inscriptions, and something seemed to flicker in and out of existence on his back.
"A god?" Anthony and Ulssman were stunned. Ang had actually caught a god? And a human-shaped god at that.
The voices of Anthony and the others seemed to startle the human god inside. He turned his head abruptly, inscriptions flashing in his pupils. Anthony and Ulssman both felt a gaze fall upon them.
This change made Anthony and Ulssman widen their eyes in unison. Anthony even said: "He's even more fierce than you; he can actually manifest divine power even inside the Huang Tong Book."
"... You are a god, what kind of night do you want? You..." Negris wanted to mock it, and before it could finish speaking, the entire Void shook violently.
The membrane formed by Ang bulged violently, as if impacted by something. The information storm had arrived.
