Chapter 1695

~6 min read 1,176 words

The massive star-descendant wielded a massive hammer, stepping through the void with a clatter-clatter-clatter as he ran over, and from afar he first flung a small hammer at the Star Monarch's palanquin, then leapt into the air and brought down the great hammer in his hands.

As the hammer swung, the haft extended at high speed; though the distance was great, when the hammer came down, its head had already fallen above the Star Monarch's palanquin.

This sight surprised everyone, and even the monarch couldn't help but say: "So reckless? Good to come."

Though the monarch often spoke of beheading people, when it came to actual action he was still quite reasonable; like this—being flicked in the eye by someone and then jumping up to strike with an iron hammer—he had never done such a thing.

But since the opponent was so savage, the monarch also grew excited; such a fellow could be slaughtered without any psychological burden, and he hadn't slaughtered anyone in a long time, his Death's Scythe in hand long thirsting and parched.

The monarch punched the small hammer flung at him into flight, stellar gravitation surged from his body, he brandished the scythe and chopped down at the falling great hammer—with a boom, the great hammer and the Death's Scythe shattered simultaneously, explosive energy waves splashing in all directions.

The stellar gravitation stabilized in place, the monarch's true form was drawn out and merged with the gravitation.

The monarch laughed heartily, the Death's Scythe recondensing in his hands: "Good, exhilarating—able to withstand one of my strikes, you are worthy to die by my hand."

Gripping the Death's Scythe, the monarch charged toward the unknown giant star-descendant.

The Star Forger was shocked, bewildered, and with a hint of panic, he instinctively shouted: "Augmented Form?!"

The Star Forgers of the Myriad Refinements Empire were still quite knowledgeable, able to recognize the Augmented Form; the Star Forger panicked slightly, then immediately began hammering in place with an iron hammer, the great hammerhead striking the void, conjuring bright marks out of nothing.

"Huh, is this a magic array?" Duoloken stared at the marks conjured from nothing, surprised. Antony said: "Indeed it is a magic array, and moreover it was struck forth using Star God artifacts, its energy level far surpassing ordinary magic arrays; it draws not magical elements but primal power, so it should be called a Primal Array."

The Star Forger's actions also caused the monarch to pause, leisurely watching the other's busyness.

Lord Nai Ge Li Si said irritably: "This old immortal is playing again."

When the enemy is setting up formations, it's best to interrupt their process rather than stand aside and watch the formation complete.

Duoloken said: "These arrays are formed instantly; they take shape as they are struck down, afterward merely stacking damage or constructing composite arrays."

"Of course, the monarch stopped mainly to play." Duoloken spread his hands and said.

The monarch hadn't engaged in a proper fight in a long time; before, whether on the Furnace Branch Road or the Lan'ya Branch Road, none counted as proper combat—just bumping and grinding—but now, having finally encountered a proper opponent using unfamiliar fresh tactics, not playing a bit would be unacceptable.

Six array marks formed around the Star Forger; he glanced at the monarch, saw the monarch still standing in place, immediately realized the opponent's intention, feeling both some annoyance and some relief.

Relief came because the opponent hadn't attacked immediately, giving him time to stack stronger arrays; he knew the strength of the Augmented Form well, and an unprepared encounter with it, if the opponent attacked first, would be very troublesome to deal with.

Annoyance came because the opponent clearly didn't take him seriously, actually nonchalantly waiting for him to finish setting up the arrays; such contempt infuriated him—even if you are an Augmented Form, you have no right to look down on him, this Star Forger.

The greatest problem in facing an Augmented Form is that it cannot be grasped; its attacks are unstoppable, even breaking spatial confinement; ordinary means cannot restrict its movement, causing most attacks to miss the opponent entirely.

To strike an Augmented Form, one must first restrict its movement; the Star Forger's six array marks, four of which are Abyssal Power, once formed, he pointed toward the monarch—Abyssal Shackles. Four gravitational bonds shot toward the monarch's direction, the field firmly locking the monarch, pulling him toward the array's direction.

"Yo ho!" the monarch exclaimed, shifted his feet, and planted himself firmly.

The Abyssal Shackles couldn't pull the monarch; instead, they dragged the Star Forger and the array marks toward the monarch.

The Star Forger silently thought: "Got you."

Though the direction changed, the result was the same—both sides' distance rapidly closing.

The remaining two arrays immediately activated, the surrounding space swiftly dimming and transforming into black mist, enveloping the Star Forger and the arrays—Dark Mist.

Seven primal powers constitute the foundation of all void; among them, dark power is omnipresent primal power, even in the most barren void its existence can be found.

Dark power can erode everything, including light and divine sense; when it spreads, all divine sense and light cannot penetrate.

The Abyssal Shackles dragged an impenetrable dark mist, rapidly approaching the monarch's position.

Antony commented: "Combat ability is strong, reaction is quick, strategy is also fine—unfortunately, the level gap is too vast."

The dark mist quickly engulfed the monarch; since divine sense cannot penetrate it, aside from Ange, no one could see clearly what happened inside.

Emperor Lunni and Hesro hastily deployed their "King's Vision," pointing it at the dark mist; only within the King's Vision did they see grids constantly distorting, expanding or contracting unpredictably, indicating violent spatial fluctuations within.

After several minutes? The dark mist suddenly dissipated, revealing the situation inside.

Around the Star Forger stood six arrays, two of which had already shattered—precisely the two operating dark power.

The remaining four arrays of Devouring Power released the Abyssal Shackles of the Black Abyss, firmly locking both sides in place.

And so the monarch stood there, the Star Forger gripping the great hammer, clatter-clatter-clatter striking there, the monarch unharmed, the Star Forger panting, his entire form considerably dimmed.

The level difference is enormous; the monarch standing there lets the opponent strike without breaking his defense—he had just bumped and grinded against Heliros of the Furnace Branch Road and Lan'ya of the Lan'ya Branch Road, Lan'ya even having been blown up by his anger, now devouring the entire branch road.

Not even the attack of a branch road master could do anything to the monarch, let alone a mere star-descendant.

When the Star Forger grew tired from hammering, the monarch raised the scythe and pointed it at him, smiling and asking: "Tired? If tired, then it's my turn."

The Star Forger hastily pointed at the Extinguished God Star and said: "Not tired, not tired—I can still continue, but I want to change location; I'll go to that god star, for my strength can only be fully unleashed upon a god star."
