Chapter 20: In the Name of Ang

~8 min read 1,533 words

'Clean and beautiful' used on a lich was a strange description. How could a lich be clean? Not being able to touch water and only being able to dry-wipe made it very difficult to thoroughly remove dirt.

Beautiful was even harder. Moisture loss and skin losing elasticity would cause the skin to wrinkle, so normal liches looked like 120-year-old old people, full of wrinkles.

But this female lich's skin was smooth, without obvious wrinkles, only having wrinkles at joints like the neck and elbows. This made her look like a... corpse that had dieted too much.

Of course, these were all the brass dragon's feelings. Ang didn't have any concept of clean and beautiful; he only saw this thick soul flame of the female lich and Fei Lin's clean finger.

Looking at Fei Lin in confusion, Ang asked: "Who is she?"

Fei Lin showed an embarrassed but polite, anxious and very helpless expression on his face and replied: "This is my wife, Miss Lisha. Lord, please forgive me, she is too excited. Please forgive her offense. If possible, could you teach this magic that purified my finger to her? I am willing to pay the corresponding price."

"Can teach?" Ang asked the brass dragon in his heart. The Purification spell was the brass dragon's; Ang felt he should ask the brass dragon.

"Yes," Nai Ge Li Si said with some dark humor: "It's just a first-rank Holy Light spell. Even if you teach her, she can't use it. This is a 'Holy' Light spell, belonging to the category of divine arts. Without the power of belief, it cannot be cast. Unless she can be like you, having a soul network or belief power, otherwise she must borrow the power of gods."

Teaching a spell or other knowledge between undead creatures was really too simple. Teaching was not a problem; the biggest problem was the ability to receive. With the intelligence of an ordinary skeleton, even if all the knowledge in the world were taught to it, it couldn't learn magic.

Miss Lisha's intelligence was of course no problem, and her magic level was very high. A mere first-rank spell, she learned it after one try, but unfortunately, she couldn't use it.

"How could this be?" Miss Lisha looked at her hands anxiously. She could feel that this magic had succeeded; the magic network circuit had been established, and she could feel it operating, but there was no energy release.

"Belief, divine power." Ang repeated the brass dragon's words. He didn't quite understand the meaning of these words.

But Miss Lisha understood. She murmured these two words, her eyes flashing as if there were bright light: "Lord, may I ask your name?"

As soon as Miss Lisha's question came out, Fei Lin's expression behind her changed drastically, subconsciously wanting to pounce up and cover her mouth.

Heavens, the Watcher Lord was very likely a projection of the Monarch. Now his wife actually asked the other party's name directly. Wasn't that equivalent to directly asking a god's divine name? The Undead Monarch was an existence comparable to a god; this was truly too offensive.

"Ang." Ang didn't feel offended and replied casually, leaving Fei Lin, who wanted to pounce up, stunned on the spot.

"Ang? In the name of Ang, grant me the ability to purify decay and beautify my appearance. Purify Appearance!" Miss Lisha shouted the above words in an incomparably pious tone.

"???" Big question marks popped up in the minds of Fei Lin and Nai Ge Li Si. This was Purification, a divine art to dispel filth and purify all things. What the hell was 'Purify Appearance'? Purifying appearance?

Ang only felt that the symbol condensed by Miss Lisha's soul flame was stirring in his soul.

With a thought, Ang immediately felt his power pouring into that symbol. At the same time, Miss Lisha's palms lit up with holy light.

Nai Ge Li Si's eyeballs were about to fall out: "This works too? You guy don't even have a godhead, a fake god. Why can she borrow your power?"

Things Nai Ge Li Si couldn't understand, Ang naturally couldn't understand either. Anyway, his power could be directly projected through the symbol belonging to Miss Lisha in his soul.

Miss Lisha looked at the holy light in her hands excitedly and couldn't wait to wipe it on her arms.

Her arms were grey-white skin and bones, smooth but without elasticity and luster. One could only say they looked a little better than ordinary zombie liches, but they still belonged to the category of 'corpse'.

Once the Holy Light shone, the abnormalities on the skin were revealed. It turned out she had pulled the excess skin back, folded it, and stuck it with glue or something. In this way, it looked very smooth from the front.

It was just that this kind of treatment required a lot of energy, and it couldn't be moved significantly.

As the Holy Light wiped over, the 'grey-white' on her arms immediately peeled off, revealing the rosy color that normal skin should have. And unlike the Purification spell, Miss Lisha's withered skin and flesh actually plumped up under the effect of the Purify Appearance spell, recovering luster and elasticity.

One could see that where the Holy Light wiped, a fair and fresh arm appeared.

Fei Lin widened his eyes, looking at Miss Lisha's arm, then at his own fingers that looked like peeled chicken claws, unable to believe it.

The Purification spell Ang cast only purified the 'patina' on his fingers; the skin and flesh didn't recover freshness. But the same magic, when Miss Lisha cast it, could make the skin and flesh fresh. What was the principle?

Unlike Fei Lin's confusion, Nai Ge Li Si saw the reason at a glance: "As expected of a 'Holy' Light spell. The advantage of divine arts lies here. The same divine art has ever-changing effects because it is the power of will. This woman not only really borrowed your power but also adjusted the effect. Her understanding of divine arts is very deep, and her belief is very firm."

Ang didn't understand Nai Ge Li Si's words, what will, effect, etc. He only knew his power was borrowed, and the mana on his body was exhausted, but the symbol representing Miss Lisha was a bit clearer.

Miss Lisha returned a wisp of thick soul flame. This wisp of soul flame didn't drift from her body to Ang, but directly emerged from that symbol.

This meant that even if they were not in the same plane, as long as this symbol existed, Ang could receive Miss Lisha's soul flame.

Miss Lisha was already trembling with excitement. Her right hand was trembling, her fingertips gently touching her left hand, which had become fresh and fair. The skin dented, and once she let go, it immediately bounced back to its original state. This Q-elastic feeling she hadn't had for many years made her cry 'woo woo woo', but no tears flowed out.

Fei Lin could too well understand his wife's mood. She used to be such a beauty-loving person, yet she had been trapped in an ugly body for thousands of years. If it weren't for the fear of becoming an undead or a ghost, or even an uglier rotting corpse, she would have committed suicide long ago.

Now, she saw the hope of recovering her original appearance. Just crying for a few sounds and recovering was already very remarkable.

One Purify Appearance spell was only enough for her to wipe from her fingers to her wrists. She hurriedly cast magic again: "In the name of Ang..." and then wiped her face.

The plumped-up cheeks stretched the skin stuck to the back of her neck, recovering luster and elasticity.

Just like that, one Purify Appearance spell after another made Miss Lisha fresh from head to toe, and the whole person took on a new look.

For the second Purify Appearance spell, Nai Ge Li Si was only a bit surprised. By the fifth or sixth, he was so shocked he didn't know what to say: "Why can she borrow so much of your power? It's endless. And it's not like moss is everywhere? In the past, when my believers borrowed my power once, I had to rest for three or five days. Is it because your mental power is strong and recovers fast?"

Maybe. Ang tilted his head. Every time Miss Lisha cast a Purification spell, Ang's mana would be exhausted, but he had already gotten used to it when watering the farmland. Every time the exhausted mana would recover before the next spell was cast.

Miss Lisha's casting frequency was far less than when he watered, so there was no need to worry about not recovering. And every time she borrowed mana, a thick soul flame would be returned. Ang didn't lose anything.

Miss Lisha touched her fresh skin with joy. After a long while, she suppressed her excitement, walked gracefully to Ang, crossed her hands on her shoulders, knelt on both knees, and said: "Former Holy Maiden of Light, Fallen Miss Lisha August, pay respects to my Lord." ===== CHAPTER 21 =====
