Chapter 408

~6 min read 1,083 words

"Huh?" Ang asked in confusion.

He spent two months driving the Sage's hearse to get here, and it's been less than half a month—how could they have arrived so fast?

"Meow~" The big cat on Lightning's head proudly raised its tiny paw.

"Meow!" Ang nodded, then began rubbing the little angel's head.

"Meow!" The little angel growled, shaking her head to avoid his touch.

"Meow!" Ang slapped her on the head and kept rubbing.

The little zombie patted its chest, stood tall: "Meow!"

"Meow!"

"Meow-meow-meow!"

"Meow~"

Lisa, Silvercoin, and Lightning exchanged glances, all looking troubled: "What are they saying? Did you understand?"

"I got the first part, but not the rest," Lightning replied, frustrated.

"Aren't you fluent in Meow-speak? How can you not understand?"

"They spoke too fast."

"I don't get it. Maybe Lord Nage can understand? Where's Lord Nage?"

The Sage said: "Nage was shoved into the Palace of Rest by Lord Ang—apparently dragged over there. Du Luo was taken too. Oh, you haven't met yet—this is the Witch, also my beloved."

Huh!?

Everyone involuntarily widened their eyes, straightened their backs, their inner gossip flames burning fiercely—they'd just been wondering why there was a beautiful woman here.

The Witch elbowed the Sage, smiling at everyone: "Don't listen to him—he's rambling. I'm the Witch, pleased to meet you. The Sage told me all about you. We're family now—no need to be formal."

Family!? Everyone exchanged glances; Lightning's expression was the most exaggerated—clearly brimming with mischief.

But the Sage already knew Lightning's habits. Behind the Witch's back, a wisp of black mist formed a grotesque grin, staring fixedly at Lightning.

After wrestling between being cheeky and preserving his life, Lightning slumped, defeated, lying flat on the ground: What a boring life this is… unless I grow strong enough to beat them! Lightning suddenly perked up and stood again.

Its sudden lying down and standing up didn't bother anyone—they were used to its occasional madness.

The big cat plopped onto the ground, its body swelling.

Soon, the Purple Bone Titans emerged from its fur, carrying all kinds of materials. Purple Bone asked: "Where's Lord Du Luo? Where should we put the materials?"

"Building a teleportation array? Du Luo went to the New World—set the materials aside for now. Who else can build a teleportation array? Go find him," Lisa commanded, asking as she spoke.

The Witch smiled faintly: "If it's just a basic teleportation array, I should be able to handle it."

"That's perfect, Witch Lord—do you remember Dolo Demei?" Lisa asked.

"Are they still alive?" The Witch asked, excited.

Ang pulled out the two banshees—they'd been staying in the Palace of Rest.

The Witch and the banshees met, naturally erupting in shrieks and jumps.

Lisa took charge without hesitation, shouting: "Let's build the teleportation array first—then we can travel quickly between the World Transit Station and here. Also, there's no air here—we need a barrier to store air, otherwise Lord Anthony and Lu Se can't come here."

Ang tilted his head, puzzled, and pointed at Lightning.

Lightning grinned: "I've got this—my mom gave it to me." As he spoke, he stuck out his tongue, on which rested a single emerald-green leaf, like jade.

Ang pulled out the sapling and pointed at the emerald leaf.

The sapling tilted its head, radiating confusion.

Ang said: "I need this."

The sapling instantly understood, waving its true leaves, sending out enthusiastic signals: Grow—stronger—grow—stronger—

Pop! A tiny bud sprouted from the sapling's branch, rapidly growing into a fresh emerald leaf.

Ang plucked it off and said: "More."

The sapling grew a dozen more emerald leaves.

Silvercoin nudged Lightning, whispering: "Is your mom's leaf from the Tree of Life?"

"Yes…" Lightning replied weakly—he'd thought it was unique, forgetting that Lord Ang carried the God of Life himself.

Ang handed the leaves to Lisa to distribute, then said to the big cat: "Meow."

"Meow?" The big cat's eyes widened, shaking its head frantically.

Ang pulled out a bag of elf beans and tossed them before it.

The big cat didn't even glance at the elf beans, shaking its head violently—this wasn't something elf beans could buy.

Ang "meowed" again—the big cat still shook its head. Even a full divine core wouldn't sway it.

Ang thought for a moment, turned, walked to the Black Crystal Body, and forcibly snapped off the first joint of the little finger on its right hand.

"Hey, what are you doing?" The Witch screamed. Her duty was to guard the Emperor's body—how could Ang break off the Emperor's little finger?

Ang tilted his head, looking at her. Everyone turned to stare at her. The Sage quietly tugged at her sleeve from behind.

"You… I…" The Witch suddenly realized she couldn't protect the Emperor's body—if Ang wanted to take it.

The Sage whispered in her ear: "Don't overthink it. Ang is the Emperor's heir. You're just a graveyard keeper. Do you really think you can dictate how he handles the body?"

"I… I… but…" The Witch felt something was wrong.

"But what? You can't beat any of us. Ang is saving the Emperor—everything he does might have deep meaning. If you stop him, what if the Emperor can't be revived?" The Sage shifted tactics.

"Ahh!" The Witch's mind spiraled into chaos. She shrieked and bolted down the Eternal Path.

The Sage hurried after her.

Ang took the little finger bone, pouring in vast amounts of soul flame. Tiny sparks multiplied inside the bone, growing denser and denser, until they began swirling.

Ang handed the bone fragment to the big cat.

The big cat stared fixedly at the bone, its eyes filled with inner struggle—then, unable to resist the lure, it shrank, lunged forward, and clutched it tightly.

It spat out a soul flame, bit down on the bone, and darted off to the side.

Ang retrieved its soul flame—a soul link formed between him and the big cat.

Ang had never had a soul link with the big cat before—it was too proud to submit to anyone. But from now on, the extradimensional beast officially became Ang's subject.

Ang tilted his head, sensing the connection, then shouted to the little angel: "Meow!"

The little angel dashed over.

Ang's bones rapidly turned purple-gold—Roc's transformation!

In his Rock form, Ang seized the little angel's neck and shoved her forward—simultaneously, a gaping spatial hole appeared before them, swallowing the little angel whole.

"Wait—the big cat's Cat-Claw? The one it uses to trade with Xieshen? You can use it like this?"
