Chapter 808

~7 min read 1,399 words

The Monarch manifested a small stool, squatted on it, rested his Death Scythe on his left shoulder, and while watching with ease, took out some nuts and started cracking them leisurely.

Seeing his posture, familiar memories immediately flooded Ang's soul. Back at the farm, didn't the old Skeleton Lord spend his days squatting on the ridge like this? Only, what he rested on his shoulder back then was a hoe.

Discovering Ang looking over, the Monarch smiled, lifted the nuts in his palm to show them, then picked one up and flicked it with his index finger.

The nut turned into a black shadow, shot out with a 'whoosh', and flew straight to Ang.

Ang was busy pulling people out and had no free hands, so he tilted his head. A bone hand reached out from Ang's body, caught the nut, and then the God of Undead slowly floated out from Ang's body and looked at the nut in his hand.

This was actually a real nut, not a superficial manifestation. However, it wasn't strange for the Monarch to manifest matter; what was strange was that it carried some information.

The God of Undead gently crushed the nut, and the attached information immediately entered Ang's soul.

The amount of information wasn't large, and Ang finished reading it almost instantly, tilting his head in shock.

The Monarch smiled and nodded: "This is the secret of the Void."

Noticing their interaction, Negris couldn't help but fly over and ask curiously: "What are you two being so mysterious about?"

Ang replied while pulling people out: "King said, secret."

"Pfft—a secret, and he tells you? What kind of secret can you hear that I can't? Damn it, you old immortal, you're biased." The last sentence, Negris shouted at the Monarch.

The Monarch cracked a nut leisurely and said slowly: "You can't handle this secret. Not telling you is for your own good."

"Can't handle it? What's wrong with me hearing a secret? I can forget it after hearing it, ah pfft, I... hmph."

Negris was so angry it wanted to say 'curse you', but as soon as the thought arose, an ominous feeling surged in its heart. The consequences of the descendant of the Serpent of Misfortune hissing curses at it flashed through its mind, and it immediately swallowed the words on the tip of its tongue.

Ang pulled out a bunch of Chaos Holy Spirits, laid them out along the edge of the domain with practiced ease, and began his performance.

Unlike before when pouring things into the Abyss Ball, the acceleration matrix of the Chaos Holy Spirits could only be laid on one side. The front already entered the domain's range and couldn't be laid forward, so the acceleration range was only half of what it was before.

This caused Ang's firing rate to drop significantly, but it was enough to make the New Black Source panic. Watching the continuous stream of jets pouring into the energy mass, it let out an angry low roar. Darkness spread from the energy mass, quickly enveloping the entire range of the domain.

Ang only saw darkness ahead. The New Black Source, the dark elemental energy mass, and even the Monarch were all plunged into darkness. Ahead appeared the shape of a matte black bubble; this was the true face of the Absolute Dark Domain.

Ang tilted his head. Now he couldn't see the impact point. Although he could rely on memory to hit the original point through the darkness, the jet seemed to be delayed by something, and he didn't know if it was hitting the original position.

Ang scratched his head and was just about to change methods when the black bubble suddenly burst. The darkness that had expanded quickly receded, revealing the Monarch and the New Black Source, only the New Black Source had turned into seventeen or eighteen pieces again.

The Monarch rested his scythe back on his shoulder and muttered: "Do you think I'm dead? Wait, that's not right, I am dead. What should I say? Do you think I'm paralyzed? That works, it's logical."

The Monarch muttered while floating back to his original spot to squat.

The New Black Source, shattered into seventeen or eighteen pieces, glared with its eyes and fell back into the dark elemental energy mass unwillingly. As long as the Monarch was there, it wouldn't be able to exert the full power of the Absolute Dark Domain.

Well, that made things much easier. Ang resumed his original rhythm and continued shooting the impure Holy Dark Elements into the energy mass.

The New Black Source might have realized that it wouldn't gain any advantage by showing itself, so it simply didn't appear. Without even an enemy, the whole scene seemed very boring.

After watching for a while, it discovered that Ang was guiding the jet in a methodical way, while his other hand reached into his space again.

"This dead skeleton, playing again," Negris muttered weakly, then turned to shout at the Monarch: "Hey, old immortal, this Absolute Dark Domain doesn't seem very powerful. How were you trapped by this thing? Are you getting old and losing your touch?"

"Losing my touch? Come in and stay for a while and see." As he spoke, he threw a nut toward his feet. When the nut left the Monarch's side by a certain distance, it suddenly took a sharp turn and fell straight toward the dark elemental energy mass in the center.

Sure enough, there was a very powerful force within the domain range, dragging all matter and energy toward the central energy ball. But because the Monarch looked so calm and unaffected, Negris hadn't noticed the existence of this force at all.

The Monarch continued: "If I hadn't repeatedly slashed and killed it, forcing it to fully activate the Absolute Dark, the entire domain range would have been shrouded in darkness. Everything would have been eroded, dissolved, and finally assimilated by the darkness, and I would be no exception."

"Ah?" Is it that dangerous? Negris was shocked and asked urgently: "Then what about Luoke? What should we do about Luoke? Can he hold out? Luoke and the others have been inside for so long, right? Won't something happen to them? Ang, stop playing, find a way to accelerate. Don't let Luoke be reduced to just a pile of bones by the time you're done."

"Oh," Ang replied noncommittally.

The Monarch wasn't in a hurry at all and said slowly: "If it were just Luoke trapped inside, he wouldn't be able to hold out for a few days. But with that... Little Black Source there, this Dark Source doesn't seem able to use all its darkness, so they're fine for now."

"For now? How long is 'for now'? What counts as 'done'?" Negris asked.

It didn't even know what counted as achieving the goal now. It only knew that Ang was mixing blessed Holy Dark Elements into the dark elements, but it didn't know what ratio was needed to meet the standard.

The Monarch's leisurely manner was more annoying than an old tree. But then again, even if an old tree lived long, it only had a lifespan of 100,000 years. The old immortal was eternal. If he really wanted to be leisurely, what tree could be more leisurely than him?

It heard him say: "I don't know about that, but it doesn't matter. Even if he's reduced to a pile of bones, Luoke is still that tough bone—bone—Kubada, what are you doing!"

At the end, the Monarch's expression suddenly changed drastically, and he couldn't help but jump up. It was the first time it had seen him lose his composure like this.

Negris also sensed a powerful energy reaction appearing behind it. Turning its head, it saw Ang letting the Little Tree Sapling spit out that Abyss Ball.

Hearing the Monarch's words, Ang tilted his head blankly: "Not playing, accelerate."

"Pfft—Negris only told you not to play, not to blow up the Chaos Plane! What the hell is this thing? What did you seal inside? Don't point it at me!" The Monarch hid as far away as he could, instantly dodging to the edge of the domain, ninety degrees perpendicular to Ang's position, with the energy mass as the center.
