Chapter 95

~6 min read 1,117 words

Ang discovered that the Essence of Life was miraculous: a lifeless stone, when a single drop was dripped onto it, suddenly gained the aura of life.

What kind of aura is life? Growth, instinct, consciousness, wisdom—so Ang sensed the stone sending him a message: stepped on…

Oh, quickly move your foot away.

But the life aura on the stone couldn’t last; it faded quickly. Ang dripped another drop, and found the stone standing there dazed, so Ang stepped on it again—and sensed it sending a message: cracked…

Then it split open.

The stone couldn’t sustain it, so Ang found a bone, a piece of wood, a horse’s head, a pillow… anything he saw, he dripped a drop on—and many miraculous changes occurred.

The bone actually grew new bone tissue; a dead tree, long dead for years, turned green and sprouted a tiny bud; the horse’s head naturally sparked with lightning—now no one cared whether it was a unicorn anymore; everyone just called it “horse,” and Lightning didn’t bother denying it anymore; there were too many denials to make.

Its horn had grown two-thirds of the way; it was already a formed horn, yet still couldn’t resonate with lightning. Ang had assumed he’d have to wait until the horn fully grew.

Unexpectedly, after a few drops of Essence of Life were dripped onto it, Lightning immediately felt a current surging from his tailbone straight to the crown of his head—puff!—his horn sparked with lightning.

“I’m electrified! I’m electrified! Hahaha, I’m finally electrified! I’m Lightning’s favorite! Child of Thunder…” Lightning’s proud declaration was cut short as a thick arm wrapped around him, a large hand gripping his horn, and Zi Hai’s voice sounded in his ear: “Little horse, what’s electrified?”

With tears welling in his eyes, Lightning released the lightning power he’d just generated from his horn: “You’re the horse! Your whole family’s horses! Look at the power of the Child of Thunder!”

Zi Hai shuddered violently, feeling an electric shock—pleasant!

Within her bloodline, the power of the Lord of Thunder stirred restlessly, making her hug Lightning tighter: “Oh, little horse, little horse, you’re so adorable! Do it again, harder, shock me.”

Lightning sadly realized: he was the Child of Thunder, but she was the Lord of Thunder; he was Lightning’s favorite, but she was the Goddess of Lightning…

Aside from Lightning’s horn, everything else quickly lost its life aura. After confirming it had no negative effect on plants, Ang boldly dripped a drop onto a young sapling.

The sapling showed no change, only sensing Ang with puzzlement—it now knew some things wouldn’t grow, like this big thing in front of it.

Anything could generate a life aura, but most couldn’t last. He played and played like this until the entire bottle of Essence of Life was gone.

Gathering personnel and preparing, Nageleis activated the teleportation array, and a strange-looking human, along with Silver Coin, was teleported over.

Nageleis’s gaze settled on the strange-looking human—why strange? Because the figure appeared unreal, with no aura of life.

The figure’s gaze also landed on Nageleis, and with sorrow he said: “God of Knowledge, you’ve grown thin.”

That one sentence made Nageleis explode: “Damn it, am I thin? Am I thin? Are you blind? I’m youthful!”

Two old men who hadn’t seen each other in over a thousand years exchanged a barrage of insults in a special way—as a greeting.

“What’s your situation?” Nageleis asked, watching Anthony’s unstable, semi-transparent form.

“A divine proxy. It can only last twenty-four hours. Luckily I know this technique, or I wouldn’t have escaped.” Anthony said, still shaken.

He hadn’t faced such a perilous scene in years. The Black Knight Emperor, who once only ambushed others, never imagined he’d be ambushed himself.

“You’re impressive enough—two Sword Saints, six Grand Mages, plus anti-magic and interdimensional disruptors, all launching a surprise ambush—and still you escaped. Hmph, haven’t seen you in over a thousand years, your power has broken through.” Nageleis shook his head.

This force wasn’t just enough to ambush a powerless bishop—it could easily ambush a dragon. After all, bishops are magic-users; once a Sword Saint closes in, they’re as good as dead.

Their failure was likely due to underestimating your strength—they didn’t expect Anthony to possess melee power comparable to a dragon’s, and set the ambush as if targeting a magic-user, which caused their failure.

But it wasn’t entirely a failure—they even accounted for your Holy Ward. They planted gnome bombs on the secret base’s teleportation array, blowing you and the whole building sky-high.

Who could’ve guessed you’d know such a rare divine technique as Divine Proxy? Live long enough, and you’ll pick up any bizarre ability.

Anthony shook his head: “It might be more than that. I suspect Nicholas was there too—I sensed some aura when I fled the scene.”

Oh, then add a Grand Priest-level divine caster. Sometimes, divine casters are harder to deal with than any other class—like Anthony himself. His melee power should be nearly equal to the opposing High-Grade Sword Saint, but with Holy Word, he can blow their head off.

You never know what power a divine caster might summon—what if you run into a Harvest Goddess’s caster who gives you instant pregnancy with a single glance…

Of course, divine techniques and divine casters have ranks. A lowly priestess couldn’t possibly use “Holy Word—Die!” to harm a being far beyond her level.

“Forget it, no more talk—let’s first try growing you a body. Do you have any blood, flesh, or bodily tissue?” Nageleis asked.

Anthony pulled out his bishop’s emblem, caked in blood.

Ang tilted his head, reached his wrist forward—and it vanished. He pulled it back, and in his hand was a badge nearly identical to the bishop’s emblem: “I have.” He meant “I have one too,” but left it unsaid.

“Oh, the Divine Knight emblem of Leo?” Anthony lifted his wrist slightly, perhaps intending to reach for it, but didn’t dare extend his hand.

“What’s this?” Ang pointed at the symbol flickering on it.

The symbol kept flashing. Though Ang didn’t care what it meant, after so long, he felt compelled to ask.

“Oh, it’s the Highest Mobilization Order. Anyone who receives this must prepare for immediate combat.” Anthony said.

Nageleis pointed curiously at Anthony’s bishop emblem: “Mobilize whom? Your emblem’s flashing too—are you being mobilized? You’re a Grand Priest—does that mean the entire human ecclesiastical district must mobilize?”

Anthony laughed it off: “We’ll talk about it later—I don’t have much time. Help me grow my body first. I’m curious—how do you think you can grow my old body in twenty… oh, we’ve talked this long? Only eighteen hours left. How will you grow my body in eighteen hours?”
