Chapter 313: Xiao Moting, Long Time No See

~8 min read 1,431 words

The corn was the villagers' heartfelt gift; Bai Wei accepted the corn and put it all into the Warehouse.

By now, the five-story Warehouse was already packed to the brim, stuffed with all kinds of supplies.

Standing alone in the massive Warehouse, a sense of security welled up in Bai Wei's heart.

This Warehouse was her foundation for when she went to Daliang.

Xiao Moting also sent over the Landmines that the craftsmen had finished making.

There were a full hundred or so, all packed into wooden crates stuffed with hay and cotton.

After inspecting the Warehouse, Bai Wei went back to pack her things.

Tomorrow morning, she would set off for ancient Daliang!

She hadn't seen Xiao Moting for several months, and she was very much looking forward to it.

She didn't know if Xiao Lujing had been studying hard, and she just wanted to get there as soon as possible.

This time, Bai Wei had also specially bought quite a few gifts, preparing to take them over to give to the Beijiang Army.

Morning came quickly.

As soon as Bai Wei opened her eyes, she immediately climbed out of bed, opened the door, and walked out.

Seeing Chen Ming sweeping the floor in the courtyard, she walked up to him quickly.

"A Ming, I'm going out on a trip today; the Farm is left to you."

Chen Ming placed the broom on the ground and nodded vigorously.

"Sister Bai, don't worry about your trip; I, I will look after the Farm well."

"Good boy." Bai Wei smiled.

Don't let Chen Ming's intellectual disability fool you; every time she entrusted him with something, he handled it perfectly.

People in the village saw Chen Ming working for her and grew jealous, wanting to send their own relatives to replace him, claiming that because Chen Ming wasn't very bright, he wasn't handy to use.

But Bai Wei refused them all.

In her view, apart from his low IQ, Chen Ming was better than others in every other aspect, and he was especially obedient to her.

If she hired someone with a devious mind to watch the Farm, something would go wrong sooner or later.

In the air, a long, drawn-out bird call rang out.

Cangyun flapped its wings and flew over.

It ate well and drank well every day in the modern world, having grown several circles fatter, and was kept with shiny, bright feathers.

Bai Wei smiled and said, "Cangyun, time to take you home."

"Caw."

Cangyun seemed to understand what Bai Wei was saying, flapping its wings and calling out once.

"Woof, woof, woof."

Dahuang rushed over, wagging its tail incessantly, reluctant to part.

Bai Wei squatted down and patted Dahuang's dog head.

"Dahuang, you stay here and watch the Farm with A Ming."

"When I come back from my trip, I'll bring you something delicious."

Dahuang turned its head and glanced at Cangyun.

During this time, it and Cangyun had become friends; although the dog and bird often fought over food, with Cangyun around, its life had become much livelier.

Perhaps knowing that Cangyun was about to be separated from it, Dahuang turned around, ran into the house, and quickly trotted out with a bone in its mouth.

It placed the bone in front of Cangyun and let out a woof at it.

"Yo, Dahuang, you were hoarding meat bones?" Bai Wei was both surprised and astonished.

This silly dog!

It was usually greedy to a fault, but she hadn't expected it to be so generous today, giving the meat bone it had hidden away to Cangyun to eat.

Cangyun also called out "Caw, caw" a few times toward Dahuang.

Seeing this dog and bird parting reluctantly, Bai Wei felt moved in her heart.

She stepped forward and said, "Dahuang, if there's a chance in the future, I'll take you over there to see Cangyun."

Upon hearing this, Dahuang immediately became excited, jumping and bounding around her.

It was getting late, so Bai Wei took Cangyun and walked toward the outside of the village.

She even put on a show by carrying a hiking backpack, which was stuffed full of things.

Since she was going on an "out-of-town trip," leaving empty-handed would arouse suspicion.

On the road out of the village, Bai Wei ran into several villagers.

Because the news that she was going on a "trip" had been spread long ago, the villagers weren't surprised to see her carrying a hiking backpack; instead, they stood by the roadside to greet her.

"Xiao Wei, going on a trip? Have a good time and stay safe."

"There's nothing fun in our village, go out and have a blast."

Bai Wei smiled and answered them one by one.

Walking straight ahead along the village road, she soon left the village.

Outside the village, the area was sparsely populated, and both sides of the village road were fields of sorghum.

Bai Wei walked a bit further, then checked that no one was around, quickly left the village road, and climbed up the mountain to the side.

Since there was no one nearby, she could have directly used Teleportation to Daliang.

But for the sake of safety, Bai Wei still climbed to the desolate mountain first to ensure no one was truly around before performing the Teleportation.

Bai Wei climbed to the mountainside, sweating from the exertion.

Everything around was quiet, with only the sound of birds in the wind.

Bai Wei immediately put down her hiking backpack, grabbed the strap of the backpack with one hand, held Cang Yun with the other, and focused her mind to begin the Teleportation.

Perhaps knowing that she was going home, Cang Yun stood obediently by her side, not moving an inch.

A familiar wave of dizziness washed over her.

Bai Wei suddenly felt as if her body had lost its weight, with blurry, colorful beams of light flowing rapidly all around her.

After the dizziness faded, Bai Wei slowly opened her eyes.

What came into view was already a familiar scene.

An antique-style room, clean and refreshing.

Xiao Moting stood before her, staring at her blankly, his pitch-black eyes suppressing surging excitement.

Bai Wei raised her head, looking up at his handsome, upright face, and spoke softly.

"Xiao Moting, long time no see..."

Before her voice had even faded, her whole body suddenly tensed.

Xiao Moting pulled her into his embrace, his low, hoarse voice carrying an irrepressible tremor.

"Bai, I have finally seen you again."

His sturdy arms were using so much strength that it felt as if he wanted to knead her deeply into his embrace.

Bai Wei bumped her head against Xiao Moting's chest, held so tightly by him that she could barely breathe.

Xiao Moting was not wearing armor, only the battle robe of the Beijiang Army.

Through the thin clothing, Bai Wei heard the heart deep within his chest cavity beating violently.

Bai Wei knew of his excitement, steadied herself, and reached out to gently wrap her arms around Xiao Moting's waist.

She said in a low voice, "Xiao Moting, I missed you too."

Cang Yun stood to the side, tilting its head to watch the two of them, quietly not making a single sound.

The two had not seen each other for several months, and neither could suppress the excitement in their hearts.

Just as the two were tightly embracing, a figure appeared at the doorway.

Xiao Lujing walked to the door, and just as he was about to speak, he suddenly furrowed his brows.

He looked at Bai Wei in surprise, and immediately after, his face was full of excitement.

Bai Wei was holding Xiao Moting and had not noticed at all that someone had come to the door.

Xiao Moting raised his head, saw Xiao Lujing standing at the door, shook his head slightly, and made a "hush" gesture.

At this moment, he did not want to be disturbed by anyone else.

Just then, Xiao Lujing's ears twitched, and he heard a faint sound of footsteps coming from behind him.

These footsteps were very slight, inaudible to others.

But he had practiced martial arts since he was a child and was a killer by trade, so he identified them immediately.

Xiao Lujing looked up at the two of them, then retreated silently.

Not far away, Han Guiying was rushing over in a flurry, with Xiao Dabao following beside her.

"I'm telling you Dabao, who told you to be such a glutton; you actually burst the new military uniform, let's see how you explain this to the Prince."
