Chapter 359: Leave None of Them Alive
Seeing that the situation was turning bad, Lao Zhangtou hurried over to smooth things over.
"My lord, he's had too much to drink and is spouting nonsense. I'll punish him severely later."
After saying this, he barked at the young laborer.
"I told you not to drink, but you had to be greedy for those two ounces of rotgut. Now that you're drunk and talking nonsense, apologize at once!"
The young laborer hurriedly bowed, trembling, "My lord, I've had too much to drink, please forgive me..."
The Fusang Samurai sneered, "Since you want to apologize, then show some sincerity."
Having said that, he swung his blade fiercely.
Splat!
Before Bai Wei could recover her senses, she saw a spray of bright red splash out before her eyes.
The young laborer collapsed into a pool of blood, his neck gurgling with blood.
This sudden scene left the surrounding crowd completely stunned.
Lao Zhangtou also opened his mouth in horror, simply unable to believe the scene before him.
The Fusang Samurai held his Katana and waved the blade nonchalantly, "Everyone look clearly, this is the price for not being obedient."
The thick, fresh blood dripped down the blade like red paint, landing on the ground.
After he finished speaking, he turned and walked into the gate as if nothing had happened.
Bai Wei looked at the scene before her, the blood in her entire body almost freezing into ice.
She had thought the Fusang People would only scold the young laborer or give him a kick.
But she never expected that they would actually resort to murder!
"How... how could they do this?"
Bai Wei muttered, her fists clenched tightly.
This young laborer had been a living person just a moment ago, and in the blink of an eye, he had lost his life.
He wasn't even twenty yet!
"Beasts, they are simply beasts." Bai Wei gritted her teeth in hatred, looking up and glaring at the departing Fusang People, her eyes filled with raging fire.
Her heart was filled with both pain and regret; if she had known earlier that the Fusang People would use a blade to sever the young laborer's neck, she would have definitely found a way to stop them!
Suddenly, a heart-wrenching sound rang out from the crowd.
A gray-haired woman rushed out, collapsing beside the youth's corpse, screaming in agony.
"Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu!"
"Look at your mother, don't scare me like this."
The people around were all silent.
Lao Zhangtou hurried forward, "Zhou Shen, don't be anxious yet. We'll find someone to take Xiao Wu to a doctor right now; perhaps... perhaps there's still hope."
Although he said this, everyone could hear that these were words to comfort Zhou Shen.
The young laborer lying on the ground had his neck more than half severed; how could he possibly be saved?
Even Bai Wei, who knew modern medicine, could not bring the young laborer back from the dead!
"What a sin!" Lao Zhangtou sighed deeply, his voice heavy and dry, filled with profound helplessness.
Bai Wei asked in a low voice, "Zhang Shu, do these Fusang People just kill people so casually? Does no law govern them at all?"
Lao Zhangtou gave a bitter smile, "These foreigners, what law do they care about? In their eyes, we people of Daliang are just timber, worth even less than pigs or dogs; if they kill, they kill."
"And the government doesn't care?" Bai Wei gritted her teeth, "This is treating human life like grass!"
"How would the government dare to cross them?" Lao Zhangtou said, gesturing with his chin toward the gate and lowering his voice, "These Fusang People have Heavenly Thunder and Fire Muskets in their hands; the Yuan Clan troops are simply no match for them."
"General Yuan is wary of these Fusang People on one hand, and on the other, he has requests of them, wanting to buy weapons like Heavenly Thunder and Fire Muskets from them. He doesn't dare offend the Fusang People and can only turn a blind eye. Even if the Fusang People burn, kill, and loot in the city, as long as they don't kill people of power and influence, General Yuan almost never intervenes."
Bai Wei felt indignant in her heart, "This traitor, for the sake of his own selfish desires, has forgotten his roots!"
"What else can be done?" Lao Zhangtou spread his hands helplessly, "The Fusang People's weapons and equipment are all stronger than ours. If we really had a falling out, the Yuan Clan troops might not necessarily be able to beat the Fusang, which is why General Yuan doesn't dare to interfere."
"Then... what about Zhou?" Bai Wei asked, "I remember he had conflicts with the Fusang People before."
Lao Zhangtou shook his head, "Zhou is actually quite good; he detests the Fusang People deeply. Whenever he saw the Fusang People running wild in the city, he would definitely take action. It's just a pity that Zhou is ill now and hasn't left his house for several months, so he can't manage these Fusang People either."
As he spoke, he hurriedly looked around.
"Bai, let's stop talking about these things. These Fusang People are especially vicious; if they hear us gossiping, they will definitely take our lives."
After saying this, he immediately called over two laborers standing nearby.
"You two come here, hurry and find a doctor to see if you can save the Zhou Family's son."
The two laborers nodded and hurriedly ran toward the city.
The gray-haired woman sat on the ground, holding her son's corpse, weeping bitterly.
"Xiao Wu, Mother only has you as a son; if something happens to you, what will Mother do?"
This also drew many people to watch.
Everyone's eyes were bloodshot and filled with immense hatred, but no one dared to say anything more, fearing it would bring disaster upon themselves.
They could only bury this hatred in their hearts.
Bai Wei took a deep breath, pushing her anger deep inside.
Once tonight passed, she would make these Fusang People pay in blood!
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Bai Wei reached into her collar, pulled out a small, exquisite Micro Intercom, and spoke rapidly.
"Xiao Moting, are you there?"
From the other end of the intercom, Xiao Moting's deep voice came through immediately.
"Bai, I am here. What happened?"
Bai Wei gritted her teeth, "These Fusang People are truly detestable. In tonight's operation, leave none of these Fusang People alive, regardless of age."
Xiao Moting was taken aback, then immediately said, "Alright, I'll listen to you."
After Bai Wei finished speaking, she quickly hid the walkie-talkie inside her bodice.
She had sewn a small pocket on the inside of her bodice to carry the walkie-talkie close to her body, so it could not be seen at all from the outside.
Even if it were searched out, there was no need to worry.
Because the Fusang People had never seen a walkie-talkie, they had no idea what it was for.
Lao Zhangtou shouted, "Everyone hurry up, quickly move the vegetables and grain from the carts into the Dye House; if we're late, these Fusang People will look for trouble again."
The gray-haired woman was still wailing on the ground.
The remaining few laborers dared not delay any longer and hurried to the carts to unload the goods.
They had all seen the brutality of the Fusang People with their own eyes, and no one dared to offend them.
Seeing this, Bai Wei also hurriedly walked forward to help lift the vegetable baskets off the cart.
She and another laborer lifted a basket of cabbage together and walked into the Dye House.
Once inside the gate, there were quite a few Fusang People along the way.
The Fusang People gathered in twos and threes, chatting in the Fusang language and letting out coarse laughter from time to time.
The group kept their heads low, not daring to look up.
The kitchen for cooking was not far from the backyard.
Several Fusang People passed by the roadside carrying Katanas, and one of the Fusang People had a black holster hanging from his waist with a Handgun tucked inside.
