Chapter 370: You Are Only Fit to Kill Fish
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang out!
The Bullet grazed Bai Wei's ear and smashed the square table behind her with a bang.
Bai Wei gasped in shock, looking up at Zhou Yanli beside her.
A faint, cool medicinal scent drifted from his plain white robes.
Bai Wei was stunned, "What are you doing?"
As she spoke, she looked down and saw his arm wrapped around her waist, making her head spin even more.
"Let go, put me down!"
Zhou Yanli shifted his stance, clutching Bai Wei as he flashed to the corner of the wall, then let out a cold snort, "If I hadn't saved you just now, your head would have been blown off."
As he spoke, he glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw Yamada Ichiro preparing to fire again.
He had no time to mind Bai Wei; he immediately hooked his toe, kicked a Long Sword up from the ground, and struck the hilt with his palm.
"Whoosh!"
The Long Sword transformed into a Spear, instantly thrusting toward Yamada Ichiro's chest.
Yamada Ichiro was forced to lower his gun and dodge in a panic.
Zhou Yanli snorted coldly, "Hmph, ant!"
After speaking, he tapped his toe, lunged forward, and simultaneously drew his Iron Bone Fan, sweeping it toward Yamada Ichiro's neck.
His speed was too fast; Yamada Ichiro was forced to draw his Katana and raise it to block.
Zhou Yanli had already realized that only by engaging in close-quarters combat and denying Yamada Ichiro the chance to fire could he gain the advantage, so he charged forward without hesitation to fight the opponent at close range.
However, as the leader of the Ronin, Yamada Ichiro's swordsmanship was not weak.
The two became locked in a struggle.
"Clang!"
Metal clashed against metal, and a trail of sparks splashed into the air.
Bai Wei's eyes widened; she never imagined that when Zhou Yanli went to engage Yamada Ichiro in close combat, he would actually bring her along.
The man held the Iron Bone Fan in his left hand and tucked her into the crook of his right arm, yet he still had the energy to fight Yamada, and was even holding his own.
The two fought fiercely, and Bai Wei, tucked in his arm, had to jump and dodge along with Zhou Yanli, swaying left and right; she was almost shaken to the point of vomiting.
Zhou Yanli had practiced martial arts, and his jumping and rolling were as easy as walking on flat ground.
But she couldn't do that!
What made her scalp tingle even more was that the Katana in Yamada Ichiro's hand would flash before her eyes from time to time, and a few times the tip of the blade nearly poked her face.
Bai Wei felt dizzy, and the sight of the blade light made her tremble.
"No... Zhou... cough... if you want to fight Yamada, put me down first."
From above, Zhou Yanli's cold, frosty voice fell.
"No."
"It's hard for you to fight while holding me like this, isn't it? I haven't been dieting lately and have gained ten pounds; I'm a bit heavy for you to carry."
"Not heavy."
"If you let me go, it will be more convenient to fight."
"Enough nonsense!" Zhou Yanli dodged a slash, speaking coldly, "If I let go, you will run away immediately. Until I have finished asking how many treasures you stole, you are not allowed to go anywhere."
"I really didn't steal anything! I won't run, I promise I won't run." Bai Wei was on the verge of tears.
If she remained tucked under Zhou Yanli's arm, she feared that by the time the fight ended, Yamada Ichiro might not be dead, but she would already be riddled with dozens of holes.
Either from being slashed by the Katana or stabbed by Zhou Yanli's Iron Bone Fan!
Just then, Zhou Yanli slashed his fan across Yamada Ichiro's arm.
Yamada Ichiro felt the pain, clutched his bleeding arm, and roared, "Zhou Yanli! I should have killed you from the start!"
"Heh, a piece of trash like you could never kill me; you are only fit to kill fish."
Yamada Ichiro was so angry he shrieked, and slashed again.
Bai Wei was already dizzy from the movement, her vision blurring, but she could hear Zhou Yanli's voice.
She had to admit it to herself.
In terms of martial prowess, Xiao Moting and Zhou Yanli were evenly matched, perhaps even slightly better.
But in terms of a venomous tongue, Xiao Moting was no match for Zhou Yanli at all.
Yamada Ichiro could be considered quite patient, yet he was driven into a state of total disarray by just a few words from Zhou Yanli.
However, Bai Wei still admired Zhou Yanli.
This man looked frail and had been ill for several months, yet his combat power was still so strong!
With one hand holding the Iron Bone Fan and the other clutching her, he still forced Yamada Ichiro to retreat repeatedly, covering him in wounds.
Yamada Ichiro was in a sorry state now; his body was covered in many gashes, his skin and flesh torn, dripping with blood, looking truly terrifying.
In close-quarters combat, he was no match for Zhou Yanli.
But whenever he wanted to reach for his gun, the opponent gave him no opportunity.
Seeing that Zhou Yanli was completely unharmed while carrying Bai Wei, Yamada Ichiro finally grew afraid.
"Zhou, for the sake of the Shrine Maiden, spare my life."
Zhou Yanli narrowed his eyes with sarcasm, "Spare you? What about the many people of Daliang you killed—did you spare them?"
Having said that, he glanced at Bai Wei and said softly.
"Stand steady."
"Huh?" Before Bai Wei could react, she suddenly felt her body released.
The arm Zhou Yanli had been using to hold Bai Wei suddenly let go.
His figure, like a bolt of white lightning, charged fiercely toward Yamada Ichiro.
Just as Bai Wei lifted her head, a mist of blood erupted before her eyes!
Before Yamada Ichiro could even let out a scream, Zhou Yanli slashed his neck with a fan!
The sharp fan ribs, thin as cicada wings, severed half of his neck.
Only half of Yamada Ichiro's head remained attached to his neck; his skull hung heavily to the side like a broken sack, and the fresh blood spraying from his neck cavity shot up over half a meter high like a fountain!
At this very moment, Zhou Yanli had already flickered his figure and flashed to the side.
He raised the Iron Bone Fan in his hand to block the spray of blood droplets, and not a single drop of blood stained his snow-white robes, which remained spotless.
He coldly snorted, "Yamada, it is not that I cannot kill you, but that I do not want you to die too comfortably. For every person of my Daliang Kingdom you kill, I will carve a wound into your body!"
The immense momentum caused Bai Wei to stumble and fall backward.
She widened her eyes.
This god-forsaken Zhou Yanli, after finishing the slow execution of Yamada Ichiro, was he just going to ignore her?
When he wanted to grab her, he tucked her under his arm, and when he wanted to let go, he just tossed her aside?
"Ah!"
Bai Wei let out a scream; she was about to fall!
Suddenly, she collided with a solid chest.
Immediately after, a steady, cold voice came from above her head.
"I am here, it is alright now."
Bai Wei held her breath, and her panicked heart inexplicably calmed down in an instant.
She looked up and saw a well-defined jawline, as well as a pair of deep, pitch-black eyes reflecting her own figure.
"Xiao Moting!"
"Bai, I have arrived."
Xiao Moting nodded slightly, held her in his arms with one hand, and raised his Long Blade horizontally with the other, shielding her protectively.
He looked up, his sharp, piercing eyes scanning the hall with intensity.
"Charge, kill them all!"
"Charge!"
A tidal wave of roars came from behind Xiao Moting.
A dense mass of soldiers, brandishing Long Swords and blades, charged in from behind him and stormed into the hall.
In the courtyard, there was also the clashing of weapons and a chorus of battle cries.
The troops brought by Xiao Moting were like tigers charging into a flock of sheep; wherever they passed, there was a pool of blood, and the Samurai fell one after another.
