Chapter 17: Finding Fun

~7 min read 1,346 words

Su Xi didn't expect that the information uncovered would be so explosive.

"This morning, the only thing I found was what she did during college. After Xiao Yu used a Misfortune Card on her, I had someone re‑investigate, and we uncovered things she had done in the past."

Su Xi sent the key pictures to Yang Zhichun.

Since Chu Han Ya was a child, she has been torturing illegitimate sons and daughters together with her mother. Those with outstanding looks are not dared to be touched; those of average appearance fall victim to their poisonous hands.

Her methods have grown more sophisticated with age and the number of victims. At first she acted herself, then she employed henchmen to coerce, and now she uses every possible scheme to drive people into a dead end; publicly, no one knows that the suffering is linked to Chu Han Ya. Her reputation remains spotless.

For example, in her earlier days she would push someone into a lake in winter, pull them out, then push them back in. When the victim seemed near death, she would feign concern and send them back, claiming a child was being reckless. The Chu family has plenty of doctors, and no one died on the spot, so no one investigates whether the person fell in out of playfulness or was thrown in. Even if she were discovered, the head of the Chu family would only blame Chu Han Ya for not covering up, letting others know she did something bad.

During college, Chu Han Ya's tactics were covert and vicious. For instance, she knew a girl who confessed to Su Xi liked the campus cats and dogs, so she deliberately steered a well‑meaning person to buy cat and dog food with a special additive. The additive reacts with a certain factor, causing the animals to go berserk and bite people. She then used a club's gift‑distribution to attach the tainted items to the girl's backpack and clothes. In the end, the girl was attacked by the animals and died despite rescue attempts. If it weren't an accident, investigators would never uncover it.

Later, investigators followed two threads: people Chu Han Ya despised and those who had confessed to Su Xi. Among these, those without connections either died or were maimed. Everything that happened to them was essentially a "accident".

"Accidents" become not accidents when they accumulate. Some people kept evidence of Chu Han Ya's crimes, but the Chu family's great enterprise makes those without backing too afraid to present it.

Since the employer didn't request it, the investigators didn't rouse that group.

Su Xi finished explaining everything and awaited Yang Zhichun's decision. If the Su family makes a move and the Chu family discovers it, the Chu family will surely retaliate. The rivalry between the two families is no small matter.

"Then let's send a big gift to the Chu family."

Yang Zhichun, after mentioning the Chu family, thought of that troublesome fake daughter‑in‑law.

"Is Zheng Dongping really coming back today?"

"Yes, she must have bought a ticket and flown back as soon as she heard the news."

"Did anyone send someone to stop her?"

Yang Zhichun rubbed her forehead. A few years ago, the board witnessed a Su family fiasco. She doesn't want history to repeat. Even if Zheng Dongping causes a scene, it can only be in the manor, not in front of the board.

Su Xi made a strange face, "She was driving herself and got into a car accident."

When Su Xi received the news, she read it twice to be sure she hadn't misread. How could it be such a coincidence?

"Hmm? What about the casualties?"

Zheng Dongping still holds the role of daughter‑in‑law; if something happens to her, the Su Clan's reputation would suffer. Yang Zhichun didn't ponder why Zheng Dongping, who returned from abroad, drove herself instead of taking a taxi. She only hopes Zheng Dongping's misdeeds won't affect the Su family's stock price.

"She collided with a funeral carriage; the living passenger was lucky and unharmed. The deceased's remains were destroyed by the impact. The driver reported it to the police, and she is now at the station waiting for the victim's family."

Yang Zhichun exhaled in relief; as long as the living are fine. However, the one who kept Zheng Dongping waiting there must have a substantial background. "Which family did the deceased belong to?"

"The dead was a junior member favored by the Chu family's patriarch, who is attending the funeral. That funeral carriage was used to transport the remains for preservation."

With the person dead, the Chu patriarch has already taken a heavy blow. Now the face is also ruined; the Chu patriarch could never let the mastermind go.

"What a coincidence, Zheng Dongping was pressured by the Chu family, grew resentful, and thus exposed Chu Han Ya's deeds—how fitting!"

Yang Zhichun smiled at that point, "Xiao Yu's words are spot on; when you're unhappy, making the enemy suffer smooths out the mood."

Su Xi nodded in agreement. That Misfortune Card packs quite a punch.

"Xiao Yu wants to hand out Misfortune Cards to those old guys on the spot. I plan to take her along to the meeting."

After Zheng Dongping received a Misfortune Card, she was stuck in the police station unable to leave. After Chu Han Ya got a Misfortune Card, her crimes were thoroughly uncovered. Su Xi is curious what misfortunes would befall the board's old guys if they were given Misfortune Cards.

Yang Zhichun also nodded.

"By the way, tell me about the person you like. Which family's girl do you fancy? Grandma won't oppose. Grandma will feel out the situation; they won't easily betroth the girl to another family."

Su Xi shook her head, "Not suitable."

Yang Zhichun knows the grandson's convictions and is always obstinate. He doesn't want to speak; however she pressures him, he won't say a word.

"Grandma won't force you, but Xiao Yu's words are likely true. No matter what happens to that girl, protect the person first. Injuries can be healed, marriages can be dissolved, but once someone dies, they cannot be revived."

Yang Zhichun now feels at ease. As long as her two grandchildren are safe and happy, that's all she needs. This old woman will just protect them and hand the Su family over to them securely, and she'll be relieved!

"Got it, I'll send someone to protect her."

"Hmm, there are many matters today; you can take it easy here for now. Later, those old guys will still need you to deal with them."

"Alright!"

Su Xi nodded. Su Yu talked about too many things today; there are still many issues he must resolve. The younger siblings' side is also a big problem. He must keep an eye on it and prevent anyone from scheming against them.

Su Yu was bored alone in her room. She flipped through Su Xi's bookshelf, which was filled with business‑related books. The school‑averse Su Yu glanced at the titles half‑heartedly and put them back.

"The meeting will definitely be at least an hour; I need to be ready."

Su Yu already knows how to prepare.

【System, can you look up the Su Clan's board members? Check if they have any dirt. Hehe, I'll casually ask later and use a Truth Card, or slip a Truth Card in when others mention it—definitely a big fun!】

I'm exposing my own family's secrets; that will make those board members spit blood in anger! Su Yu thought about it and felt delighted.

【I'll check right now!】

Su Yu topped up her only one million, so the system won't glitch. As soon as it senses Su Yu has more money, it will draw cards with full vigor!

While everyone was immersed in researching, the office door was knocked.

"Xiao Yu, we're heading to the conference room."

"Coming!"

Su Yu trotted with a cheerful little step, "tap tap," toward the doorway.
