Wait until I tell you to come out, got it?\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Eskel interrupted, \"Enough chatter, let's go, Lambert.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>As the Forktail screeched and swooped down, biting into the goat like it was a normal hunt…\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Eskel and Lambert turned into two dark blurs, charging out of the bushes.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The mutations from the Trial of the Grasses gave Witchers physical abilities far beyond those of normal humans.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>While it didn't make them invulnerable, their strength, agility, and reaction speeds were much greater than average.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>So, while the foolish Forktail was still enjoying its meal, completely unaware of the approaching danger…\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The two Witchers were already behind it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Eskel didn't hold back.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He swung his sword hard, aiming for the base of the Forktail's tail.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Blood spurted out.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Forktail let out a piercing scream.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Its tail lashed out instinctively.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Forktail's name came from its tail.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>At the end of its tail, it had long, sharp protrusions that could split an oak shield in two.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But Eskel was ready.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He rolled away, dodging the sweeping attack that whistled over his head.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>While the Forktail attacked Eskel, Lambert seized the opportunity and struck.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>His sword hit the same wound that Eskel had just made.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>More blood gushed out.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The blood splattered on the snow.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Forktail's screams grew louder.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>It spun around, glaring at the two with hatred and malice.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Then, it raised its head and opened its mouth.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Watch out!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Eskel and Lambert quickly retreated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Rings of visible sound waves pulsed outwards.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Forktail's roar wasn't as powerful as some other creatures that specialized in sonic attacks, but anyone within its range would be temporarily stunned.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>After using its roar to push the Witchers back, the Forktail didn't chase, but instead took flight.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Clearly, even with its limited intelligence, the Forktail knew it was no match for the Witchers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Staying would only mean being skinned and gutted.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"It's trying to escape!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Don't let it get away!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The two Witchers tried to stop the Forktail from fleeing.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But the Forktail was fast, and in a short time, it was already out of their sword's reach.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Witchers aren't great at long-range attacks. Even though the Forktail wasn't that far away, at that distance, if it wanted to escape, they couldn't stop it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But just as the Forktail was about to fly over the bush they'd hidden in, a blast of invisible force shot out from the bush, hitting the Forktail in the stomach from below.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Forktail cried out and fell from the sky like a broken kite.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>It crashed to the ground and slid for a short distance.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Kid!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>When Lambert saw Lynn come out of the bush, his heart jumped into his throat.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He and Eskel exchanged a look.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>They both rushed towards Lynn.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Even though Lynn was skilled enough to leave, training and real battles were different.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Many Witchers who passed all the tests and left Kaer Morhen died within a year, for that very reason.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>They were worried Lynn's recklessness would get him killed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But what happened next surprised them.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Lynn didn't charge in with his sword. He stopped a few meters from the Forktail.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He raised his hand.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>A stream of bright fire shot from his palm.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>It went straight for the Forktail's eyes.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He'd heard Lambert's warning.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But even without it, he wouldn't have been foolish enough to fight the Forktail up close.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He wasn't stupid.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Even though the Forktail's tail was gone, injured monsters were still dangerous.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Even Witchers were still flesh and blood.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>They could bleed and die.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Forktail was still a threat, even to experienced Witchers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>It was best to avoid unnecessary risks.
