Chapter 239: Strategy Discussion for the Other World!

~6 min read 1,034 words

Interstellar Federation, Qiongguang Star System, Shengyang Spiral Arm, Lieyan Planetary System.

On a common life planet, over a dozen men and women, each with distinct appearances but universally striking charm, had gathered here.

If ordinary citizens of the Interstellar Federation saw this scene, they would immediately sense something was wrong.

Because the appearances of these dozen individuals matched exactly those of the Federation's supreme leader, who appeared daily in news broadcasts visiting various star systems.

And this was certainly not some audacious civilian cosplaying the leader's likeness.

Because leaders of such stature, to avoid suspicion, had their appearances registered under anti-theft protocols.

Any resemblance exceeding 90% would constitute a severe violation of Federation law, resulting in mandatory facial reconfiguration.

But what would astonish outsiders most was that all these men and women wore armor resembling medieval antiquity, like fully armed cavalry.

"All of you arrived through spacetime wormholes; you should no longer be carrying any technological devices," said a young man with solemn expression.

The speaking young man was Li Qiongguang Mingxing, the supreme head of the Qiongguang Star System.

After Li Mingxing finished speaking, all the men and women present nodded in unison.

Compared to past meetings, this one was downright rudimentary—not held within the heavily guarded core of a death star, but out in the open on a remote ecological planet.

To attend this meeting, they had removed even detachable bio-implants and cybernetic eyes, replacing them with raw, living flesh stored in cultivation vats for who knew how long.

All of this was to guard against an invisible death, lurking somewhere, ready to strike at any moment.

These leaders, who had lived since birth with device-assisted, AI-analyzed existence, now returned to their biological forms—a complete rewrite of their behavioral patterns—that felt utterly alien to them.

Bio-eyes connected to neural circuits allowed them, merely by thought, to focus and view scenes on distant planets.

Cybernetic limbs, powered by fusion energy, enabled them to levitate and fly through air or dive into oceans with effortless anti-gravity propulsion.

Yet now, they sorrowfully realized this long-neglected biological flesh lacked even basic automatic recording and analytical functions, and their minds had grown so dull they could no longer retain information after a single glance.

One leader had a thought form in his mind, opened his mouth to speak—then forgot what he intended to say.

In the end, he could only mutely close his lips and curse inwardly: "Damn it, when we return, I'm installing a hyper-memory physical modification."

"Let me briefly summarize the relevant intelligence," said Li Mingxing.

"The incident began with a newly established online game company called Yiyu."

"The moment it was founded, it immediately released an electronic game titled 【Two Worlds Domination】, and spent enormous sums promoting it across the Federation—nearly everyone knew of it."

"But post-investigation revealed no one knew who founded the company, who developed the game, or who ran its publicity department."

"Only bank transfer records from major advertising firms confirmed that an unknown account had paid them."

After hearing Li Mingxing's words, all the leaders present involuntarily furrowed their brows—this was a ghost company.

"After heavy promotion, Yiyu contacted major gaming streamers online and had them test the game."

"Based on the streamers' explorations, the game's battlefield primarily consists of two universes: one an ancient martial world, the other a recent technological world."

"Players later discovered through killing that physical enhancements gained in-game could synchronize with their real bodies—meaning the game might be a real universe."

"But the greatest problem now lies not there, but in the technological world: due to players' rampant killings, the game characters have taken notice and are using psychic powers to influence us."

"One such psychic power is 'Luck,' which can remotely affect our universe, causing all electronic devices to malfunction."

"Under the influence of Luck, the life planets where the streamers resided suffered severe damage, affecting at least ten billion people."

Li Mingxing looked solemnly at each person present: "Therefore, for safety, I ordered you to remove all technological devices, to prevent accidents."

After Qiongming's speech, another leader immediately asked: "Do we have any countermeasures? It's just a civilization that can't even leave its own terrestrial planet."

"No," Li Mingxing shook his head. "Across a universe, our purely technological civilization can only suffer passively."

"The only way we can influence the other universe is through players with infinite respawns; but now that we've been exposed, we can't leverage our technological advantage to develop."

"Then ban the game entirely," said a leader coldly.

Immortality had already been achieved through existing technology; compared to the lower classes eager to climb, they valued the stability of the Interstellar Federation above all.

"That's actually the worst option," Li Mingxing sighed helplessly.

"Their psychic powers already affect us; even if we shut down the game, as long as they observe us, Luck will still interfere."

"Unless you kill the psychic users, we'll only endure one-sided attacks—unless you're prepared to never touch technology again."

"And banning the game won't just anger the psychics—it will provoke Yiyu Company."

Li Mingxing said coldly: "Yiyu is clearly a force capable of projecting life across dimensions; the consequences of provoking them are incalculable."

"I'd rather fight those psychics than risk angering Yiyu by shutting down the game."

Qiongming's words plunged the room into silence; then a beautiful woman sighed helplessly: "After all this discussion, the outcome is still that we must negotiate with those psychics."

Everyone present felt a bitter pang—this superpower spanning multiple star systems was being forced to humble itself before a civilization that couldn't even leave its own terrestrial planet.

A force that could be obliterated by a single planet-killer ship, yet remained untouchable due to the barrier of another universe.

At this moment, every member of the Interstellar Federation felt the terror of a phantom dog.

"Leader! Leader!"

As the group fell silent, a subordinate ran over from afar.

Using the most primitive method of communication—he ran on his legs and shouted with his vocal cords:

"Leader, new update: the remaining surviving players are attempting to establish contact—they wish to speak with us. Should we accept?"

After a moment's hesitation, the group replied: "Prepare for the conversation."
