Chapter 27: I

~6 min read 1,140 words

In the city of Z, everyone looked up at the sky, alert to their surroundings.

Their eyes carried faint traces of fear toward the unknown, as the air raid siren had been blaring for over ten minutes.

At first, no one paid attention to this incident, assuming it was just another routine superpower combat alert—until this disaster became intimately tied to everyone’s lives…

At Zhongcheng High School, due to the prolonged siren echoing across the city, some students tried pulling out their phones to vent online—but quickly realized something was wrong.

“What’s going on? My phone has no signal.”

“It’s not that my phone has no signal—mine still shows full bars, but I can’t log into any video sites.”

“Damn it, this superpower user is strong—they’re blocking our internet access!”

In a corner by the window, Fang Can tilted his head, looking down at the entire class with a relaxed expression.

After all, his Superpower Hazard Radar had not triggered any alarms yet, meaning the current situation was still within manageable limits.

So no panic—no big deal.

Besides, watching this group of classmates who normally screamed for bloodshed but now panicked into chaos made Fang Can find it amusing.

He casually pulled out his phone, checked the signal—it was full—but when he opened “Kuai Dou Bhu,” he couldn’t access it.

Classmates could still call each other normally, but if they tried contacting someone outside Z City, it showed “unreachable.”

“This feels like being firewalled.”

Fang Can thought of this—how could there be a firewall inside a firewall?

Before he could ponder further, a signal automatically connected to everyone’s electronic devices, and their phones began downloading a file named “Five Elements Nourishment Art.”

“Five Elements Nourishment Art?” Fang Can’s brow furrowed sharply—he sensed something was off.

The entire file was only 70 MB; within moments, everyone’s download completed.

With suspicion, Fang Can opened the file—and the first directory made his vision go black.

“Five Elements Nourishment Art · Transcending the Mortal Body Chapter”

“Fuck, the Idealist Martial Path is still chasing me.” Fang Can was utterly speechless, flipping through it idly.

After skipping the preface, table of contents, history of martial arts, China’s research contributions to martial arts, recent bottlenecks in martial arts development, China’s current martial arts landscape, future outlook, and all that textbook-level nonsense, he finally reached the actual text—barely a few pages long.

Seeing the human body’s 108 acupoints, the Ritual Method, and the Ten Thousand Forms and Intent Fist, Fang Can confirmed this was genuine Idealist Martial Path.

Coupled with the blocked signals beyond the city, the sudden air raid siren, a grim suspicion rose in Fang Can’s mind.

Moments later, a video popped up before everyone’s eyes—a boy in an orange shirt waved at the screen: “Citizens of Z City, on behalf of Dragon Unit, I extend early congratulations—you are the targets of this year’s Celebration Day.”

As the boy spoke, the entire class felt as if plunged into ice—cold hands and feet—unable to believe the Celebration Day they’d been joking about was now so close.

“How could this happen? I need to get out!”

“Damn it, there are nine hundred cities nationwide—why did we get picked?”

“I need to leave the city! I need to leave the city!”

With the boy’s announcement, the entire city erupted into chaos, for everyone knew the fate of cities chosen as Celebration Day targets.

The boy in the video didn’t know, nor did he care about the commotion—he continued smiling:

“The perimeter of Z City is now sealed. Anyone attempting to leave will be attacked, until Celebration Day ends.”

“During this period, no laws will apply within the city. Authorities will only return to take control after Celebration Day concludes.”

“Also, the file I sent you is the latest research. If you train hard, it might slightly increase your chances of survival.”

“Before Celebration Day, if you can generate Qi, each of you will be rewarded ten million.”

“Finally, good luck.”

With that, the boy waved at everyone with a smile, then severed the connection.

As the phone screens went dark, the school fell briefly silent—then erupted into deafening noise.

Instantly, wails, screams, and shouts spread throughout the city.

A frenzy seemed ready to unfold across the entire metropolis.

In the No. 2 teaching building of Zhongcheng High, a sharp crack of shattering glass echoed as a chair smashed through the window and flew out of the classroom.

A teacher glared at the boy with a buzz cut: “Zhang Yang, what are you doing? Don’t you think things are chaotic enough already?”

But all he received was a punch to the face.

The buzz-cut boy delivered a “Respect for Teachers” punch that knocked the teacher flat—and shouted to the terrified class:

“I’ve had enough of these shitty books. Functions, geometry—I don’t want to hear another word.”

“You all heard it—there are no laws now. Who cares about exams or studying? I’m done!”

With that, the buzz-cut boy strode out of the classroom, and no one dared stop him.

“This is bad.” Fang Can, in the corner, sighed helplessly.

Similar disruptions to order would only multiply across the city from now on.

Looting, murder, and other acts would fuel chaos—a vicious cycle. By the time Celebration Day ended, this city might resemble Los Santos.

“So… should I act?” Fang Can thought, watching the chaotic classroom.

If he revealed his identity as a superpower user and combined it with his current strength, he might just stabilize the city’s order.

After all, order or chaos hinges on hope—and as a superpower user, he could serve as a temporary guarantee of credibility.

As he hesitated, Fang Can absentmindedly pulled a coin from his pocket, ready to leave it to fate.

As the coin flipped through the air and bounced twice on the ground, it suddenly stood upright, lodged in a crack between floor tiles.

“What does this mean?”

Fang Can stared at the upright coin: “Am I supposed to do whatever I want?”

“Heh!” Fang Can’s lips curled upward. He picked up the coin with his right hand and pinched it gently.

The entire class was now in utter chaos—some terrified, others ecstatic, as if celebrating a festival.

Then, all at once, everyone felt a tightening in their chests—as if some great horror had descended.

Without prompting, everyone instinctively turned to look behind them.

In the corner by the window, Fang Can slapped the coin—its “do as you please” side—onto the desk, then slowly stood up.

No one dared meet his gaze. No one spoke. It was as if the man before them radiated terrifying authority.

Having used his newly learned Mind Manifestation to awe the entire class, Fang Can, amid their awe, anticipation, and envy, spread his hands and said:

“I’m a superpower user… I’m done hiding.”
