Chapter 96: Equality for All

~6 min read 1,027 words

Watching Fang Can lost in thought, Ji Donglai sighed and pressed his palm to his forehead. “I’ve explained it clearly enough—why are you still hesitating?”

“Don’t tell me you’re thinking about some nonsense like ‘equality for all’?”

“Besides having the same appearance, what do ordinary people have in common with us?” Ji Donglai said.

“There’s a fundamental difference between us and carbon-based lifeforms—no extreme egalitarian would ever preach equality between humans and pigs or dogs.”

“If pigs, dogs, or even plants one day became equal to humans, what would humans eat?”

“So isn’t egalitarianism just a vaguer form of racism?”

Ji Donglai spoke coldly: “Psychics are born rulers, endowed with extraordinary talent from birth. You’ve reached this level in such a short time—don’t tell me it’s without psychic power.”

“Physics tells us all things are made of molecules and atoms, but psychics are different—they transcend the laws of physics themselves.”

“I’ve lived over three hundred years. Before the Great Collapse, I was just an ordinary plumber. No one understands human society better than I do.”

“Those capitalists have no difference from ordinary people, but psychics are different—they…”

“Enough, enough.” Fang Can waved his hand, seeing Ji Donglai getting carried away and about to cross the line. “Why are you getting so worked up?”

He sighed. “I never said I was planning equality for all. I’m well aware of my own flaws—I can’t endure the hardship of equality for all.”

“But what if I refuse your proposal?” Fang Can asked.

“Then we’ll meet again. In ten years, I’ll come back and ask you once more. I have all the time in the world to wait for you to change your mind. Psychics shouldn’t be at odds with each other.”

Ji Donglai gazed at the bright moon in the sky and spoke softly:

“No matter what you decide, I’m giving you City Z. Whether you choose to build or destroy it, it’s entirely up to you.”

“If someday you surpass everyone using power from another world, I won’t object if you rule the entire New Nation.”

Hearing this, Fang Can remarked, “That’s quite a gesture.”

“This is nothing. With your strength, even among psychics you’re promising. Joining Dragon Group is your best choice,” Ji Donglai persisted in his pitch.

“Then it seems I have no other choice,” Fang Can smiled.

“What’s there to choose? Joining only brings benefits—you won’t even have to do anything.”

“You’ll still be free to play, eat, and do whatever you want. Most tasks will be handled by your subordinates.”

“When you’re truly called, it’ll only be because something threatens psychic interests—so why hesitate? You’ll have to act.”

By the end, Ji Donglai himself believed anyone who could refuse was a god—how could he not know how glorious being a psychic was?

“Fine, I’ll reluctantly agree,” Fang Can nodded. “What do I need to do after accepting? Like reporting somewhere?”

“Do whatever you want. In truth, it’s just a name on the roster,” Ji Donglai said.

“But your erratic behavior in your livestream has drawn interest from others. If you wish, I can throw you a grand banquet in City A.”

“Erratic? Where am I erratic?” Fang Can frowned in protest. “I’ve always been perfectly normal.”

“You mean using your gut and brain as weapons is normal?” Ji Donglai raised an eyebrow.

Fang Can’s expression stiffened slightly, then he said seriously: “It’s a bit odd, but I myself am absolutely not erratic.”

He realized his fighting style truly was unorthodox—he’d have to be more careful next time. He was such a normal person; being mistaken for a pervert would be terrible.

“But now that I’ve joined Dragon Group, don’t you have anything better to share?” Fang Can pushed further.

“The most advanced training equipment in the New Nation, the safest medical care—you can train your abstract ability with complete peace of mind. Even if your body disintegrates into cellular fragments, we can bring you back,” Ji Donglai explained.

“That’s it?” Fang Can raised an eyebrow. “Nothing more powerful?”

“What are you getting at?”

“Like time users—speed up my cultivation by a hundredfold. Shared ability users—let me borrow others’ psychic powers. Blessing users—grant me buffs like healing, strength, speed.” Fang Can said, raising an eyebrow. He’d long considered the idea of psychics cooperating with each other.

“You’re dreaming,” Ji Donglai rolled his eyes. “There aren’t even five thousand psychics in the entire New Nation—our abilities aren’t numerous enough for you to mix and match.”

“And why should other psychics help you train?” Ji Donglai said sternly. “I said you enjoy benefits without obligations—so all psychics are equal, regardless of power.”

“If we’re all equal, why should others waste their leisure time for your personal cultivation? What does your training have to do with them?”

“A few psychics do have abilities that could boost your strength, but if you want their help, you must go to them and beg—don’t just order them around like a lord.”

“Uh…” Fang Can fell silent, surprised that psychics truly were this equal.

“As long as you don’t interfere with other psychics, you can do whatever you want in human society,” Ji Donglai shrugged.

“Then…” Fang Can hesitated before saying, “I want women. Many women to aid my cultivation.”

Ji Donglai’s gaze turned sly, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Just granted rights and already thinking about foreign languages and porn, huh?”

“But you’re still in early cultivation—this kind of chaos isn’t suitable now. Wait until you reach the Ascension Path. Then I’ll arrange a woman from a master’s household to welcome you.”

As Ji Donglai spoke, Fang Can grew even more speechless: “What are you thinking? This is purely for cultivation.”

“Yin-Yang absorption?” Ji Donglai’s eyes lit up. “If such a technique exists, send me a copy—I’ll try it too.”

“It’s not Yin-Yang absorption,” Fang Can sighed. “I just want to experience the sensation of the corpus cavernosum expanding and contracting, then fully embed that concept into my body.”

“Genius! I knew you had this talent,” Ji Donglai marveled.

“Don’t worry—I’ll have several truckloads of women delivered every morning. Let me know your type, and I’ll pre-screen them.”
