Chapter 65: The Sudden Car Crash Immortal
“Friend, which batch of immortals did you join the White Jade Capital with?”
“I’m from the sixth batch; most of us in that group had primordial spiritual roots. For example, the Immortal of Undeath said he came from Mount Kunlun; and the Gemstone Gambler was rooted in a divine tree growing from a vein—what kind of spiritual root exactly, I don’t know.”
“I see.” Xiang Xuanqing gained two new pieces of information and noted them silently.
If a supreme primordial spiritual root is mentioned with such emphasis, it’s almost certainly another supreme primordial spiritual root.
“Could the Immortal of Undeath from Kunlun be the Pantao tree?”
Xiang Xuanqing marveled inwardly—if the Pantao tree had also come here secretly, hiding from Queen Mother Jin Mu, this was getting interesting.
“Friend, you haven’t finished touring the First City yet, have you?” The Ginseng Fruit Tree looked at Xiang Xuanqing.
“Not yet.”
Xiang Xuanqing shook his head: “I just packed up my stall, and the Barbecue Immortal directed me to find you.”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree felt a surge of delight: “The Barbecue Immortal still looks out for my business—I’ll buy more barbecue from him next time!”
“Come, come—I’ll show you some interesting spots.”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree began guiding Xiang Xuanqing through the First City.
“Friend, you mustn’t miss the First City when you come to the White Jade Capital—it’s the earliest link between the myriad worlds within Mount Yushan, and many fascinating immortals set up stalls here.”
“Also, do you see those Qionglou floating above the Tian City? They occasionally host lively events.”
“For instance, this assembly’s first Qionglou is the Gemstone Gambler’s exclusive venue—many immortals gather there to gamble on stones. I’ll take you there later.”
“If you’re lucky, you might even unearth some primordial spiritual treasures!”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree, true to his title as Guide Immortal, spoke fluently as he introduced every feature of the First City.
For example, immortals from the Fantasy Great World had organized a Fantasy Grand Adventure.
Participating immortals would become the fantasy subjects of the Fantasy Immortals, inspiring them to create astonishing works.
Xiang Xuanqing witnessed a skeptical Flower Immortal being transformed into an eight-legged crimson-gold spider.
The technique nearly turned illusion into reality—the Flower Immortal nearly lost her self, becoming truly a spider.
“What a pity—if she’d succeeded, our Weaving Immortals would’ve gained another member,” sighed several weavers among the crowd.
Also, the Tree Planting Immortal from the Ten Isles and Three Islands had launched an event called “Universal Salvation, Supreme Enlightenment.”
He called upon immortals to join a tree-planting campaign in the Western Sands, to save the suffering sentient beings there, guide them into the Immortal Path, and help them attain true enlightenment.
“Don’t you dare believe the Tree Planting Immortal’s lies—he’s not planting real trees, and he won’t bear true enlightenment!” The Ginseng Fruit Tree, clearly disliking the Tree Planting Immortal, secretly whispered to Xiang Xuanqing.
“Oh? Guide Immortal, found another wealthy patron?”
As the Ginseng Fruit Tree was about to pull Xiang Xuanqing away, the Tree Planting Immortal warmly greeted them.
“Friend, would you like to join our event?”
“Our event brings creation to the Honghuang and saves all sentient beings—it’s immense merit.”
Xiang Xuanqing looked at the Tree Planting Immortal—he wore a three-dimensional crown, draped in nine-colored cloud-silk robes, his face as radiant as jade, his hair pure white, his bearing elegant and noble.
Beside his stall lay a massive, muscular black bear.
The Ginseng Fruit Tree whispered: “He’s from the Ten Isles and Three Islands—the Tree Planting Immortal of Zifuzhou. In the White Jade Capital’s myriad worlds, he’s known as: Donghua Di Jun.”
“Donghua Di Jun?”
Hearing a familiar honorific, Xiang Xuanqing glanced at the Tree Planting Immortal twice.
Just as Xiang Xuanqing and the Ginseng Fruit Tree paused, the black bear at their feet suddenly opened blood-red eyes, bared its fangs, and growled a low, menacing rumble at them.
ROAR!!!
The Ginseng Fruit Tree jumped back: “Tree Planter, control your dumb beast!”
“Xiao Hei!”
Donghua Di Jun frowned slightly and softly scolded his mount.
The black bear continued growling, its eyes filled with panic and unease—as if it had encountered some colossal entity and felt threatened.
Donghua Di Jun was deeply surprised.
He stepped forward to calm his mount, then casually glanced at Xiang Xuanqing.
“My apologies, friends. Xiao Hei didn’t sleep well today—he’s been irritable and disturbed you both.”
Donghua Di Jun’s demeanor was sincere, his face full of regret.
“To make amends, please accept these two gifts.”
As he spoke, an immortal behind him presented a gourd and a five-colored lingzhi mushroom.
“Xuanjian water—sweet as honeyed syrup; drink it and gain immortality, bound with heaven and earth,” the Ginseng Fruit Tree instantly recognized the gifts.
“Consuming the five-colored lingzhi also grants immortality.”
Donghua Di Jun praised: “No wonder you’re the Guide Immortal—you know our Zifuzhou specialties inside out!”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree told Xiang Xuanqing: “Take them. These two items are useless to beings of Honghuang primordial roots, but you can trade them with immortals from other great worlds.”
“Of course, you can also refine them into pills.”
Xiang Xuanqing nodded slightly and accepted the five-colored lingzhi.
The Ginseng Fruit Tree took the gourd.
“Farewell, friends.”
Donghua Di Jun smiled warmly as he saw them off.
Watching the two immortals vanish into the distance, Donghua Di Jun glanced again at his mount.
He murmured thoughtfully: “Hmm, interesting—there’s a demon in the White Jade Capital?”
“Friend, you don’t seem to like the Tree Planting Immortal?”
Xiang Xuanqing weighed the five-colored lingzhi in his hand—it was pure primordial essence, flawless.
“He plants trees. I am a tree. Our paths differ.”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree refused to elaborate.
“Just stay far from him—he has ulterior motives. Hongjun made an agreement with a certain entity not to interfere in matters west of Kunlun.”
“Donghua lures others to plant trees in the Western Sands—how could that end well? One misstep, and you’ll be planted as a tree yourself.”
Xiang Xuanqing understood.
The one who made the agreement with Hongjun must be Luo Hou.
“Thank you for telling me.”
“No need to thank me. Helping customers avoid pitfalls is what a Guide Immortal should do.”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree grinned: “Otherwise, how would I have such a stellar reputation?”
He led Xiang Xuanqing onward, continuing their stroll.
Soon, they had nearly finished touring the 108 long streets of the First City.
“Come—I’ll take you to the Gemstone Gambler’s territory now. It’s bustling.”
The Ginseng Fruit Tree pointed to the Qionglou above.
As they chatted, a frantic cry echoed from afar.
“Leader! Leader!”
“Big business! Dozens of immortals want to join our tour group to visit the White Jade Capital!”
At the end of the street, a brilliant golden light rose from the horizon.
A sharp crack rang out.
A golden whip lashed high into the air.
Celestial horses neighed, hooves trampling through time and space.
A female immortal drove a golden chariot, charging recklessly, swift as lightning.
All the immortals present panicked.
“It’s the Chariot Immortal! Get out of the way!”
“Oh no, my stall!”
“It’s coming for me!”
“Oh my, the Car Crash Immortal killed another one again!!”
“Guide Immortal’s whole day’s work is ruined—pity.”
“Why don’t you pity the dead immortal? Oh, he’s not the first one he’s killed—then it’s fine.”
