Chapter 114 - 99: Fox Kingdom
The woodcutter glanced at Lin Fang but said nothing more, after all, many things about such a noble young master could indeed sway the Tieshan Immortal.
After saying farewell to the woodcutter, Lin Fang followed the path he had pointed out and soon saw a lush banana grove. Within the forest lay a broad greenstone pathway lined with flowers of various colors, clearly well tended to.
At the end of the road was a cave, over which stood a beautifully constructed pavilion with intricately carved beams and painted rafters.
On the pavilion hung a wooden plaque with three large characters inlaid with gold: Banana Cave.
Gazing at his destination, Lin Fang sighed internally, "This Tieshan Princess really knows how to enjoy life, turning a mere cave into something quite elegant. It’s a pity that old Niumo is so fickle-hearted, neglecting such a virtuous wife, spending his days entangled with the Jade-faced Princess."
As he just stepped into the grove, a scolding voice reached his ears.
"Who goes there?"
Several female demons emerged from the forest, brandishing swords, seemingly on guard in this place.
"I am Lin Fang, here to seek an audience with the Tieshan Princess!" Lin Fang said, bowing with his hands folded in front.
"Who are you, a commoner, to demand an audience with our princess?" The female demon retorted arrogantly, not taking Lin Fang seriously at all.
"I have a letter to deliver to the Supreme Sage Bull Demon King. I heard that the Tieshan Princess is his wife, which is why I have come here. If there is a misunderstanding, I shall leave immediately."
No sooner had Lin Fang finished speaking than the female demon’s expression changed dramatically. When it came to matters concerning their mistress, they dared not be negligent. Their previous arrogance stemmed from the assumption that Lin Fang was merely a mundane person; now, hearing that he carried a letter from the Demon King, they dared not treat him lightly, true or false.
"Wait here. I shall go and report this," she said.
One of the female demons hurried into the cave mansion to meet with her mistress.
In no time at all, a breathtaking woman dressed in a green gown, adorned with jewels and jade, emerged from the cave. Her eyes and brows exuded a formidable presence that involuntarily drew looks of respect. Lin Fang surmised that this was the wife of the Demon King, the mother of Red Boy, the renowned Tieshan Immortal.
He didn’t expect that the Tieshan Princess would come out so eagerly after mentioning the letter delivery. It seemed that the Demon King held great importance in her heart.
"Are you the one delivering the letter?" the Tieshan Princess asked, her voice sweet and gentle, an odd contrast to her imposing appearance.
"Indeed, it is I!" Lin Fang replied.
"Whom did the letter come from?"
"The True Immortal Ruyi from Maiden’s Country at Jieyang Mountain," Lin Fang answered softly.
"Ah, it’s a letter from my younger brother. Hand it over then," she said.
Lin Fang smiled and handed over the letter, which Tieshan Princess took without avoidance, opening it to read in front of everyone. However, quickly after, her brows furrowed deeply, and by the end, she was fuming with rage.
"What a monkey, to harm my child, and to not even spare my family members, truly thinking my home is without defenders!" Tieshan Princess cursed angrily, her voice filled with rage and hatred.
Red Boy was her child, and also the pride of her life. At such a young age, he had honed his Samadhi True Fire to perfection, and his martial skills were unparalleled. In the days as she grew distant from King Niumo, it was her son who sustained her through the hardest times.
But now, her own son could not return home. Others might not be clear about the methods of the Buddhist Sect, but she, born of the Rakshasa Clan, knew them inside out. It was far from a benevolent place, and she might never see her son again in this life. How could she not grind her teeth with hatred towards the Monkey!
She was trembling, her eyes red with suppressed emotion, as she turned to a female demon and said, "Go, bring back that faithless wretch. Tell him there’s news of his son, and see if he cares."
The female demon was startled by Tieshan Princess’s fierce expression and hurriedly agreed before rushing off to the northwest. After all, their master lately dallied in the territory of the Fox Spirit, and it had been a long time since he last visited Banana Cave.
Watching the female demon’s retreating figure, Tieshan Princess finally calmed her emotions and apologized to Lin Fang with a embarrassed smile, "I’ve made a fool of myself in front of a guest, having been unable to control my emotions."
Lin Fang could only offer an awkward yet polite smile in return. It was hard to mediate such domestic affairs, and certainly not his place to comment on King Niumo’s family matters.
"Please, come in and rest for a while. My husband will probably arrive soon," Tieshan Princess said airily, her demeanor graceful, but Lin Fang still saw the fiercely suppressed flames in her seemingly calm eyes.
And nearly a thousand miles away from Emerald Cloud Mountain, there lay a range of steep mountains lush with dense forests and rich grasslands, where myriad animals thrived, and winding rivers nourished the land, which in turn nurtured countless members of the Fox Clan.
This was the renowned Long-Live Fox Kingdom, whose leader proclaimed himself the Long-Live Fox King, a powerful Demon King.
Of course, the reason he could establish a foothold on this land, causing numerous lurking monsters to keep a respectful distance, wasn’t due to the Fox King’s sheer might, but rather because he had found a strong backer.
The Great Sage Pingtian, a renowned powerhouse among the Demon Clan known throughout the Three Realms. Centuries ago, he had already made a name for himself, and his followers included a host of potent Demon Kings, making him an uncontested overlord in this region.
The Long-Live Fox King had married off his precious jewel of a daughter to become a concubine to the Bull Demon King, securing protection from him and thus turning this land into a paradise for the Fox Clan.
In just a few short years, a sizable congregation of Fox Spirits had gathered in this region. These demons, handsome men and beautiful women, contributed to the great reputation of the Long-Live Fox Kingdom across the Three Realms. Many Immortals and monsters, concealing their identities, came here for leisure, allowing the Jade-faced Princess to accumulate a fortune of gold and silver, which ultimately served to enrich the Bull Demon King backing her.
On this day, as usual, the Bull Demon King lay in the grand hall of the Long-Live Fox Kingdom, beside him a naturally beautiful woman with an extraordinary charm, laughing and chatting with him.
The hall was filled with dancing beauties; their eyes brimmed with seduction, their figures lithe, and their dance moves full of allure. Their long fox tails swayed with their motions, adding an extra temptation.
The Bull Demon King drank fine wine and watched the singing and dancing, accompanied by beautiful women, living a carefree and pleasurable life.
Outside the hall, an entourage of fox demons clad in armor, wielding sharp weapons, stood guard like attendant soldiers in the Mortal World. The Long-Live Fox King, longing for Mortal World life, had fashioned his Imperial Palace to resemble that of a Mortal Emperor, making the Long-Live Fox Kingdom almost indistinguishable from a mortal kingdom save for the fact its populous consisted of fox demons.
Just then, a female demon wielding a sword rushed in from the outside world.
