Chapter 166 - 151, Lesson 1

~7 min read 1,257 words

The White Dragon sized up Bai Su, standing before him. He knew well that the White Ape was highly discerning, and not just any person could be taken in as a disciple. Bai Su appeared meek and delicate; the extent of her abilities required to gain the White Ape’s favor was unknown to him.

Bai Su felt a chill in her heart under his gaze. In the presence of this individual, suspected to be a True Dragon in human form, she felt a terrible pressure. It was a fear stemming from the depths of her bloodline.

"It’s your good fortune to be taken in as a disciple by Fellow Taoist White Ape," White Dragon said with a smile.

"He is called the White Dragon!" White Ape whispered, introducing him to his disciple.

Upon hearing the name White Dragon, Bai Su was even more certain that this man was indeed a True Dragon in Transformation; she dared not show the slightest disrespect and quickly bowed deeply, "Bai Su pays her respects to Lord White Dragon."

Unexpectedly, White Ape lifted her up, saying, "Since you have become my disciple, there’s no need for such a soft spine. A bow with hands clasped will suffice in the future."

"Exactly, exactly, why bother with so many worldly formalities? It’s precisely because there are too many such people that this world is so dull," White Dragon said with a clap, clearly in good spirits.

As they talked, they continued forward, passing through the great hall, traversing a long corridor adorned with precious plants. Not far ahead was a spacious square where many demon beasts were sweating profusely.

Powerful auras erupted from them, the thick Demon Qi rushing towards them, nearly making Bai Su feel breathless.

The individuals exerting themselves in the square would, if left outside, each dominate a territory as Demon Kings. She had not anticipated they would be secluded in this place, stirring her curiosity about the master of this land even more.

Among the crowd, a small figure immediately drew Bai Su’s attention—it was a Little Monster. Petite and seemingly not yet fully grown, it had a pair of pale blue butterfly wings on its back.

At the moment, she was practicing archery with a bow and arrow, aiming at a target far across the square. A demon with fox ears and a tail was giving her pointers at her side.

With the twang of the bowstring, an arrow streaked through the air and hit the bullseye, the sheer force punching through the target.

You Lan cheered happily at the sight, turning her head with a delighted face to look at Hu Er standing before her.

"Not bad, after this period of training, your strength has increased considerably. It won’t be long before you can start learning the true art of archery from me," Hu Er said, happily patting You Lan’s little head, encouraging her.

You Lan bowed her head, thoroughly enjoying her master’s affection, filled with hope in her heart that one day she would make the Three Realms recognize that the Butterfly Demon was not a weak race.

Looking up, she saw an impressive younger sister looking at her and felt somewhat puzzled—she had never seen this sister before.

Upon catching You Lan’s gaze, Bai Su smiled apologetically, finding the adorable little girl inherently endearing.

"Who is this?" Hu Er asked, looking towards White Ape who stood to the side.

To Hu Er and the others, who proclaimed themselves Swordsmen, White Ape was held in high esteem. After all, there were few in this day and age who were as dedicated to the Sword Dao as they were to their own hearts.

The might of White Ape’s Sword Path was well known; the piercing chill of his Sword Qi was something that still made people shiver in fear when recalled.

"This is my newly accepted disciple," White Ape said, his usual cold demeanor inspiring awe.

"Congratulations, congratulations!" Hu Er clasped his hands and said with a smile.

White Ape nodded and then continued to walk ahead with Bai Su.

Along the way, Bai Su saw countless monsters bowing to her master, and each of them was a powerful Demon King, which gave her a new understanding of her master’s strength.

White Ape led her to a set of chambers and gently pointed to one of them, saying, "From now on, you will live here. During the day, your practice of cultivation will take place in the square. If you need anything, you can ask Little Fox, I will take you to see her later."

After assigning her residence, White Ape continued to lead his newly accepted disciple forward until a group of Butterfly Demons slowly approached. Upon seeing White Ape, they all bowed and said, "Lord White Ape."

White Ape pointed to Bai Su and said, "This is my new disciple. Her residence will be next to You Lan. Prepare everything she needs."

"Don’t worry, we will take care of it," said the leading Butterfly Demon with a charming smile.

After the Butterfly Demons walked away, Bai Su curiously asked, "Master, who are these Butterfly Demons?"

"They are just a group of unfortunate souls who were saved by Lord Lin Fang and hence stay here, working as maids in the manor," White Ape said with a sigh.

While they were speaking, they arrived at a spacious hall decked with solid wood furniture and glossy, mirror-like brick and stone floors; it looked solemn yet opulent.

Three Little Monsters were diligently cleaning inside, and upon seeing White Ape enter, they all greeted him happily.

"Wow, who is this Miss?" Bashan Tiger suddenly leaped up and asked, his eyes darting suspiciously between White Ape’s face and the newcomer.

White Ape knocked a chestnut off Bashan Tiger’s head, making him clutch his head at once.

"This is my new disciple, Bai Su!"

"Wow, Old White Ape, you’ve taken a disciple? Does that make me an honorary uncle?" Bashan Tiger asked excitedly, already imagining the beautiful Miss calling him uncle.

"You idiot, who do you think you are, daring to call yourself uncle? Do you have the strength for it?" Yi Hailong would never miss an opportunity to take a jab at Bashan Tiger, and he immediately spoke up.

Before long, the two were arguing noisily in the hall, completely disregarding the others present.

Little Fox covered her face somewhat speechlessly, smiling at Bai Su, "Miss, don’t mind these two idiots, they’re always like this."

Bai Su, however, let out a chuckle, a laugh so beautiful and radiant it could put flowers to shame. Little Fox didn’t expect the Miss, who looked so valiant, to have such an enchanting smile and was mesmerized by it.

"Little Fox, I’m planning a welcoming banquet tonight. Prepare it for me," White Ape’s voice startled Little Fox awake.

The young Fox Spirit’s cheeks flushed as she quickly patted her chest and said, "Don’t worry, the task will be completed."

After saying that, she ran off in a hurry, leaving Bai Su with a knowing smile.

Everything Bai Su had seen and heard in this place was like a refreshing spring, nourishing the heart that had almost dried up due to the Demon Sword, reigniting her longing for life. The past madness and obsession vanished, replaced by a tender expression on her face.

"It seems you have already come to a realization," White Ape’s voice softly sounded beside Bai Su’s ear.

It was then that Bai Su realized the first lesson had already begun at that moment.
