Chapter 182 - 167: The Meeting
As they conversed, they gradually made their way toward the city center.
The deeper they went, the more lush the trees became, and the fewer people they saw. This layout was entirely different from that of the Human Clan’s cities.
Sensing Lin Fang’s curiosity, the old man continued, "The Great Chun King prefers tranquility. He wouldn’t have founded a city if he hadn’t needed to protect the members of the Demon Clan."
Tree Demon Spirits would occasionally dart out from the trees on either side. Upon seeing the Tree Demon Spirit with Lin Fang, they all showed faces full of disdain.
This glimpse of loneliness flashed across the face of the Tree Demon Spirit who was trying to maintain her pride in front of Lin Fang.
"Hehe, this little fellow has always been mischievous and troublesome, an outlier among the typically quiet Tree Demon Spirits. That’s why many of them don’t like him," the old man explained to Lin Fang with a laugh.
Hearing this, Lin Fang chuckled and said, "Why care about the gazes of others? Isn’t it good to be oneself, as long as one doesn’t harm others?"
Perhaps his words had an effect, as the little one’s spirits visibly lifted, though he still seemed somewhat downcast and not as lively as before.
After passing through the forest, the view suddenly opened up. A towering tree reaching into the heavens appeared before their eyes.
The trunk soared into the sky, the white clouds seemed to merely serve as its backdrop, and the dense foliage blocked out the sunlight. However, stray beams still filtered through the leaves, casting a dappled light that prevented the spot from being too gloomy.
"We’re here!" the old man declared, pointing at the towering tree ahead.
"Now, please go and meet the Great Chun King by yourself."
Lin Fang smiled and nodded, slowly making his way towards the great tree. As they say, mountains look close but are far away. The tree that seemed close in his sight took a considerable effort to reach.
But Lin Fang didn’t show any sign of impatience. On the contrary, he strolled along quite contentedly, occasionally stopping to enjoy the beautiful scenery, showing no sign of nervousness about meeting such an important figure.
After a while, Lin Fang finally leisurely approached the Great Chun King.
The moment he neared the giant tree, a long sigh reached his ears.
A human face slowly appeared on the thick trunk, looking quite eerie.
"You have finally arrived!" the Great Chun King’s rather aged voice resonated in Lin Fang’s ear.
His words seemed to convey no surprise at Lin Fang’s arrival but rather an air of long anticipation.
"Do you know me?" Lin Fang asked in surprise.
"I do not, but I know you are the one I have been waiting for," the Great Chun King said somberly.
Yet Lin Fang’s tension rose involuntarily, as he thought to himself, could it be that his secret of transversing had been discovered?
He asked somewhat nervously, "How can you be sure I am the one you have been waiting for?"
"The one I have been waiting for is a person whose destiny does not lie in this world, a variable that will bring new changes to this world. Once, a powerful entity told me that I would eventually meet you. Therefore, I have paid attention to every person who came by my side, to see if their destiny has undergone any changes."
"Until one day, a Little Tree Demon came here, and I felt the flavor of a changing destiny on him. That’s when I became aware of your existence."
"From that day on, I have been waiting for you to appear."
The voice of the Great Chun King thundered in Lin Fang’s mind, leaving him standing in a daze for a long while. This was his greatest secret, and he had not expected anyone to discover it.
He grew increasingly curious about the powerful being mentioned by the Great Chun King, who had predicted his arrival even before ancient times. Could it be related to his own time travel?
So he hurriedly asked, "May I know the name of that great power?"
The Great Chun King chuckled and said, "Of course, you can. That person rides a Green Ox, is surrounded by a vast purple aura, and appears very elderly."
"The Grand Supreme Elderly Lord!" Lin Fang blurted out; the description was clearly that of the Grand Supreme Elderly Lord.
"Not quite, not quite, it should be the Supreme Pure Deity," the Great Chun King said with a sigh.
"Aren’t they the same person?"
"They are one and yet not one."
"The Grand Supreme Elderly Lord is merely an incarnation of the Divine Morality Lord. The true Divine Morality Lord has not appeared in the Three Realms for many years," the Great Chun King slowly revealed some of the secrets of the Three Realms.
"In fact, not only the Divine Morality Lord but also the currently reigning Three Pure Ones are merely incarnations. Nobody knows where their true bodies are or what exactly they are doing."
Lin Fang raised his head to gaze at the sky. When he first crossed into this world, he always thought he was prescient and could make a splash in this world. Now, upon reflection, perhaps in the eyes of these mighty beings, all his actions were completely visible.
"If that’s the case, then has Buddha also noticed all this? Why hasn’t he made a move against me?" Lin Fang wondered and suddenly felt alarmed, beginning to look around as if he saw Buddha’s gaze cast upon him.
Fortunately, the Great Chun King spoke up in time, "You needn’t worry. The situation with several of the Buddhist Sect’s great powers is similar, except that Buddha continues to make public appearances, but even his state seems quite off."
"What’s off about it?"
"It’s as if he is a phantom character, though he speaks, moves, and even possesses immense mana, it seems he follows some strange rule, making everything proceed in a certain direction."
"This change must have happened after you arrived."
Upon hearing this, Lin Fang couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise, as he had not considered that he could have such a significant impact.
"Since you’ve seen me, have you gained anything?" Lin Fang asked with great concern, as this related to the reason for his time travel.
"I have understood the process, but unfortunately, I cannot tell you. This is your mission, and also your opportunity. I hope you can grasp it well."
After saying these words, a mysteriously profound aura emerged from the Great Chun King, an aura so enigmatic it seemed to go far beyond the existence of Heaven and Earth.
At this moment, Lin Fang was also in the state of Refining the spirit to revert to the void. In theory, the rules of Heaven and Earth should be like open questions to him, and by observing carefully, he ought to find some useful information.
However, in front of the present Great Chun King, it seemed to lose its effectiveness. No matter how he observed this mysterious aura, he gained nothing, as if they were on two never intersecting planes.
"When the time comes for you to understand, you naturally will. Now, it’s time for you to leave this place." As soon as the Great Chun King finished speaking, Lin Fang felt a mist flash before his eyes, and when he opened them again, he was back in the location where he had first gone to visit the Great Chun King.
"Great Chun King, Great Chun King!" Lin Fang shouted loudly, but the mighty being did not respond to Lin Fang’s calls, as if he had fallen into a deep sleep.
"Lord Lin Fang!"
You Lan heard the call and quickly ran over, curiously looking at him.
