Chapter 275 - 229: Escape
Without a word throughout the night, The Great King who Avoids Cold said with a laugh to the King of Summer Resort, "Second Brother, I think that Sun Wukong has been scared witless and doesn’t dare to come."
King Bichen also commented from the side, "Indeed, Second Brother, there’s no need to borrow trouble. I reckon that monkey has probably returned to his Huaguo Mountain by now."
"That way, we brothers can truly enjoy the legendary Tang Monk’s meat," the King of Summer Resort chuckled and patted his belly, contentedly stating.
He was itching to taste the legendary Tang Monk’s meat.
However, fate is unpredictable, and before he had time to order his little demons to turn the Tang Monk into a delicious dish, a thunderous noise erupted at the entrance of the Cave Mansion.
The noise was so intense that it shook the Cave Mansion, stirring up clouds of dust.
"Who is it this time?" King Bihan suddenly stood up, bellowing angrily.
He hadn’t had a peaceful day these past few days, which had the Demon King brewing with anger.
"My King, not good—Sun Wukong is challenging us again," a little demon hastily reported.
"Oh, so the monkey has come back, is there anyone else with him?" Due to the reminder from the King of Summer Resort, he was now more cautious, fearing that the monkey might have brought some help.
"Reporting to the King, only Sun Wukong himself."
"To come alone and challenge us, he’s really courting death. Brothers, let’s go out and teach him a lesson," King Bihan shouted, calling his two brothers to join him in confronting the reckless monkey.
"Hmph, he actually dares to come," King Bichen said gravely.
He had not expected the monkey, whom they had defeated together, to brazenly return so soon, and it was only then he realized what the King of Summer Resort had meant by troublesome.
Only the King of Summer Resort appeared hesitant; he was skeptical that the monkey had ill intentions this time and that perhaps allies were hidden somewhere close by.
He quietly placed the straw man on the stone table before exiting the Cave Mansion with his brothers.
No sooner had they gone out than they saw the swaggering monkey. King Bihan, unable to hold in his anger, exclaimed, "Good for nothing monkey, a sore loser and yet you still have the nerve to strut around."
"You tasteless monster, release my master and junior immediately, or today I, Old Sun, will shatter your Rat Hole and settle accounts with all of you vile creatures," Sun Wukong retorted without any politeness.
When it came to verbal sparring, not even several King Bihans combined could match Sun Wukong, who left them speechless.
"Argh, you damned foul monkey, how dare you insult me so, today I will make sure you won’t return alive," he said, and charging with his weapon in hand.
Seeing this, the King of Summer Resort and King Bichen hastily stepped forward to join the battle, the three brothers taking on Sun Wukong together.
But this time, the Monkey seemed to grow stronger as the battle waged on, perhaps to save face in front of the Star Lords, and pulled out all the stops.
His Iron Rod moved in an impenetrable dance, every move demonstrating the prowess of a master.
The Kui Wood Wolf and others in the sky nodded their approval, saying, "Truly worthy of the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, what splendid skill."
However, this only increased the pressure on the three brothers, King Bihan; fighting a fully powered monkey, deserving of his fierce reputation from the Havoc in Heaven, they felt overwhelmed by the shadows of the Iron Rod, being beaten back step by step.
Realizing they could not go on like this, King Bihan quickly made a sign with his eyes; the brothers, understanding his intent, spread out and began to use their Divine Skills.
The Monkey of course knew the severity of their Divine Skills and promptly shouted, "Hurry up and help!"
"Great Sage, do not worry, we are here!" As soon as this was voiced, several Star Lords appeared in the sky.
Hearing this voice, King Bihan inwardly exclaimed with dread, as the reminder from the King of Summer Resort suddenly resurfaced in his mind: this monkey truly had backup.
Looking up, he was so frightened that his soul nearly left his body, for standing in the sky were four Star Lords, exactly the Four Wooden Bird Stars.
They were the natural nemesis of all wild beasts that had achieved enlightenment.
Therefore, upon seeing them, King Bihan could not help his soul from nearly escaping. Without any hesitation, he shouted loudly, "Brothers, run for it!"
No sooner had his voice faded than the three monsters scattered and fled in all directions.
"Since we’ve arrived, how could we let you escape!" The Star Lords laughed heartily from the sky.
The four Star Lords and Sun Wukong pursued them relentlessly from behind. King Bihan, in utter terror, asked, "Esteemed younger brothers, it seems this time we truly cannot escape our fate!"
"It’s a pity for us brothers, who have diligently practiced cultivation for a thousand years since we became sentient, to have achieved our status today only to die and have our paths destroyed. And to have our bodies desecrated by others," he lamented.
As he spoke, tears involuntarily welled up in the King of Summer Resort’s eyes. A moment ago, he was full of pride and contentment, but now he could do nothing but cry in sadness and live in constant dread—as swiftly as fortunes change, so had their predicament.
"Eldest brother, do not lose heart, I still have a way to save our lives," the King of Summer Resort said gravely.
No sooner had he spoken than he quickened his pace to the northeast, without regard for the questioning gazes of his two brothers.
"Wretched beasts, do not attempt to flee!" The voice of the monkey seemed to be right next to their ears, making the three even more fearful.
But at that moment, the scenery flashed before their eyes, and without realizing it, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place, with no sign of the relentlessly pursuing monkey and Star Lords behind them.
"Where is this?" King Bihan asked in astonishment.
However, the King of Summer Resort did not know either. Originally, Lin Fang had only told him that if he wanted to save his life, he just needed to head northeast.
"Hahaha! We’re still alive!" King Bihan couldn’t help but laugh out loud in relief.
"Sun Wukong, you wait for me. If I get the chance one day, I will make sure you regret this."
Having spat out these harsh words, he began to look around. He had not realized until he saw it, and was taken aback once he did.
The place was brimming with spiritual energy, filled with exotic flowers and plants everywhere, with spirit beasts running on the ground—it was like an Immortal’s Cave Abode.
A greedy thought arose in King Bihan’s heart; if he and his brothers could occupy this place, it would be far more enjoyable than living in Xuanying Cavern.
"Are these the three little guys?" Suddenly, an ancient voice sounded next to their ears.
They saw an old man, accompanied by an ape dressed in a white garment, slowly approaching them.
"Old man, what is this place?" King Bihan asked rudely.
No sooner had his words fallen than a majestic will overwhelmed him, rendering him unable to maintain his form and forcing him to kneel on the ground. His entire body could not stop trembling, and even breathing became difficult.
Only then did he realize that he might have provoked someone he shouldn’t have; this old man’s strength was far superior to his own.
"Who exactly are you?" he asked in surprise.
"You may call me the Demon Master," the old man said slowly.
