Chapter 305 - 250 Senior

~6 min read 1,015 words

Faming stepped into the scarred city amidst the admiration of the crowd, looking dignified and compassionate.

At the same time, in a luxurious mansion within the city, a young man lying on a rocking chair and resting with his eyes closed suddenly opened his eyes.

His face was pale, and he looked extremely weak. Beside him was a delicate maid, attentively fanning him to dispel the summer’s heat.

Seeing the young man suddenly open his eyes, the maid asked with a smile, "Young Master, why aren’t you resting? The physician said you need to think less and stay still, so you can recover your health sooner."

"If you ask me, you should go see that Doctor Ding. He’s the famous doctor in our city now, you know. I’ve lost count of how many complex diseases he’s cured with his hands."

The young man, upon hearing the maid’s words, let a barely perceptible trace of ferocity flicker in his eyes, but he concealed it well and instead, his face beamed with a smile as he said, "You, always fussing like an old woman—you’d better be careful, or you might not get married."

The maid blushed slightly at his words and said coquettishly, "Young Master, you’re joking about that again with this servant."

"Didn’t you say I should think less and stay still? Why not invite Doctor Ding to our mansion?" the young man asked with a smile.

"You don’t understand, Doctor Ding is quite temperamental. He’s amiable to the common folk, but he never shows any courtesy to wealthy families like ours, and he certainly doesn’t want to make house calls for treatment."

Curiosity appeared on the young man’s face as he heard this, "Quite an eccentric character, then. Once my illness gets a bit better, I must go and see this Doctor Ding myself."

"Alright, you can leave now, I need to rest properly!" The young man waved his hand, dismissing the maid.

The maid hesitated and said, "But the master and mistress instructed me to keep an eye on you."

The young man glanced at her coldly and said, "Get out!"

For some reason, the maid always felt that ever since the young master fell ill, he had become a stranger to her; he never used to treat her this way.

But when she saw his icy eyes, the maid couldn’t help but feel a chill in her heart and retreated respectfully, leaving the young man alone.

Once the maid had slowly left, the young man reclined against the rocking chair, gazing at the blue sky, and a cold smirk spread across his lips, "That dead baldy never changes!"

As Faming entered the city, he frowned slightly at the thick air of ’The mundane world filled with desires and distractions’.

The pervasive atmosphere of worldly desires completely masked the track of the Demon Qi, making it impossible for him to find the Flood Dragon’s trail. Seeing that night was falling, Faming had no choice but to find refuge in a rundown temple.

The night gradually descended, shrouding the land in darkness, while a silver moon rose slowly into the sky, casting a silvery glow.

People accustomed to rising at sunrise and resting at sunset had already entered their dreams, except for the watchmen, who would strike their wooden clappers intermittently.

At this moment, a group of people took advantage of the night to gradually make their way toward Cangwu Courtyard.

These stealthy individuals arrived outside of Cangwu Courtyard and one of them whispered, "Big Brother, are we really going to do this? Doctor Ding is such a good man."

From his tone, it seemed he was feeling a little uneasy about their actions.

But the leader of the group said, "Since when did you become so soft-hearted, kid? Besides, we’re not after their lives, we just want to drive them away."

"This time those people have been unusually generous. Tomorrow, I’ll take the brothers for a good time at Yihong Courtyard." the leader said with a laugh.

Upon hearing this, everyone’s breath quickened and they all called out, vowing to complete the mission.

Little did they know that as soon as they had arrived, the couple inside the house had opened their eyes, and their conversation had not missed a word to the ears of Lady Wu, who revealed a hint of a smile.

Physician Ding, however, said, "Go easy, after all, we still have to live here."

"Don’t worry, you know me," Lady Wu replied softly.

While they were talking, the uninvited guests had already climbed into the yard, quietly moving towards the pharmacy, where the herbs were kept.

A cloud slowly drifted over, obscuring the silver moon in the sky, casting everything into darkness.

Using the cover of darkness, the intruders moved forward, quietly opened the door, and saw a room filled with various herbs, their faces revealing a smug delight. They slowly pulled out the prepared poison from their garments, intending to sprinkle it among the herbs when a rustling sound suddenly reached their ears.

The leader spoke in displeasure, "Who’s that? Don’t they know to keep it down? What if we wake the couple up?"

The rest of the group looked at each other because the noise hadn’t come from any of them.

"Big Brother, we didn’t say anything!"

The group felt a chill suddenly spread from the soles of their feet, and shivers uncontrollably ran down their spines.

They turned in horror, only to see two eyes, the size of bells, glowing with a ghostly green light in the darkness.

Upon closer examination, they were scared out of their wits to see a giant green python staring at them coldly.

At that moment, the neighborhood ruffians, used to bullying men and dominating women, were so frightened that they lost all sense of control, letting out a scream before scattering in every direction—some even wetting themselves in fear, and the air became filled with an unpleasant odor.

Once these cowardly intruders had fled the courtyard, the ferocious green python began to shrink until it turned into a green bamboo pole.
